Android :: How To Diagnose And Fix Database?

Nov 13, 2009

I created an application which stores values into the database and retrieves the stored data. While running an application in run mode everything seems to work fine (the values are stored and retrieved successfully) but when I run in the debug mode the process throws IllegalStateException and so far haven't found a cause. Android :: Diagnose Force Close Remotely?

Jun 14, 2010

I have a customer who upgraded his app (that I wrote and publish) and now it's force closing immediately upon launch. There is critical payroll data contained within the app so it's important that we are able to recover the data. If I could see the output of the log (as from logcat), I'm sure I could diagnose the problem, but the user is not technical and cannot use a shell. Is there a way to access the user's log from within the phone?

General :: How To Diagnose USB Connection

Feb 7, 2014

I have a HTC Droid Inc 2 w/ 2.3.4.I am no longer able to connect to the PC. I have it set on "Disk Drive" but anytime I plug into the computer's USB, it only charges without any prompts given. If I do a Fastboot with the phone plugged to the USB, the puter then says "doesn't recognize device". I suppose it must be a hardware problem with the port on the phone. I used to be able to connect with the same phone and computer. Don't I HAVE to plug directly to the PC in order to unlock the security to get rooted?

Samsung Moment :: How To Diagnose What Is Killing Battery

Dec 25, 2009

In the past week or so, I've noticed my battery life drastically decrease. I could easily go a day and a half with moderate use (some web surfing, all my apps and widgets going, etc.). Last week, my battery was gone one day in about 7.5 hours. I thought it was from installing Screebl Lite. I disabled Screebl, same problem. So I uninstalled Screebl, same problem. I have Spare Parts installed, but it's not the most intuitive thing in the world. I try looking at the battery usage stats, but it says "Android System" is the biggest battery user. And I don't know what is good, what is bad, what is normal.

Example: Today, I had my phone at 100% charge. Took it off the charger around 10 AM. Around 11:00, I paired up the new Bluetooth headset I got for Christmas. I made a call. Listened to a couple of songs. Watched a couple of minutes of video. I browsed the Market for a few, disabled bluetooth and went about my day. By about 6:00, I was at 5%.

Android :: Mobile Database App?

Aug 13, 2009

Sorry if this is the wrong forum (i'm sure the thread will be moved if it is!)I am seriously considering getting the htc hero (g2 touch), but everything hinges on the availability of a mobile database app, such as Visual CE (which I currently use on my WM phone) or Handbase. Basically a customisable form-based data collection app which can be sync'ed with a desktop database. Does anyone know of such an app?PS one of the shortfalls of Android from a marketing perspective is that there is no definitive way to view all available applications - Android Market is limited when accessed via the web.

Android :: Web Access To Database

Dec 7, 2009

I would like to ask you smart people if anyone has seen any documentation regarding web access to a database from within an Android application. I would like to create a (FREE) application where the users can share information (rants/complains) around the globe. Each user will be able to see a little globe in his phone with locations of other users and some specific information about them.

Architecturally, I am thinking "database in my GoDaddy host, exposing a web service", and the web service accessed from the Android application. But I see no documentation about accessing web services. I can also go XML, maybe, but I am not seeing what mechanisms exist in the Android for over-the-web XML access.

I have a feeling I am mis-understanding something big in the picture. Can someone point me to docs, or knows something about this topic? (the iPhone has a Lighter app where you can see people lighting around the globe. Mine is similar, but people would not be lighting, instead they will be "complaining/ranting").

Android :: Access Database

May 26, 2010

I am working on a Android app and I have a dilemma. I have a list of Objects. I have to update each of these objects with a database. I have 2 methods:

Method 1:I can loop through the Objects. For each object I can connect to the server, update it, and then move on to the next Object, and so forth.

Method 2:I can store the Objects in a list, send the whole list to the server, update it on the server side, then return a list of updated objects.

My questions are:

Which method is faster?
Which method is easier on the phone's battery?

But it gives me the exception: no such table. Someone told me that if i am attempting to copy the file in SQLiteOpenHelper's onCreate(), it's too late. So the copy file code can not copy the complete file. So i need to use adb or ddms to pull the database first? So, Anyone can teach me how to use my own databse?
