Dec 3, 2009Lots of people underestimated Apple and thought Android phones were ahead of the game. Judging by this video, it seems like a tie if not Apple has the race still won. I mean, the fluidness of iPhone is just amazing, which honestly makes it look more intriguing.

Aug 11, 2010Can anyone shed any light on why I'm unable to click and play a youtube clip on an Android handset when placed inside a webview?I've put a very simple app together (it's being extended, but no right away) and it has a web view assigned using the Android SDK.The rest of the webview works as expected (text, images, css etc), however, the YouTube clips will not show, they just show as black or white rectangles (where the video embed should be).We use the same view to display content on the iPhone app equivalent, without any issues.This is using a basic flash embed, the Safari browser on iPhone converts these to H.264 and plays them nicely in QuickTime.Can Android do the same?

You have to call the recognizer intent, have it send the recording for transcription to google, and wait for the text back. Some of my ideas would require recording the audio within my app and then sending the clip to google for transcription. Is there any way I can send an audio clip to be processed with speech to text?

Dec 14, 2009I'm using the SoundPool to play a series of small audio clips and am having issues with the audio when it starts. I have the audio attached to a button press. When I press the button mulitple times the tick persists. I was wondering if this was the audio file itself or is there something I need to do differently with the SoundPool other than play simply play the clip. These are .ogg files I created using Audacity. When I play them in my dekstop media player, they sound fine.

Oct 11, 2010I've tried to open Google Map application on iphone & android. From iPhone developer reference website I am able to open the native google map from link.

Motorola Droid :: Wallet With Magnetic Clip
Dec 17, 2009I may be purchasing a Droid soon. One thing that worries me a little is the GPS/Dock function that "activates" when you dock it in the media or car dock. From what I understand this triggers due to magnets that the Droid senses.
I use a leather money clip that holds like 10 cards then has a clip with a magnet in it to hold bills. (See picture).
My concern is that if I keep the Dtoid in my right pocket with my wallet it's going to activate and start draining the battery like crazy. As the phone would be too big to fit in the small "change" pocket on jeans that I used to use for my LG Voyager and previous phones it has me a little worried how I'm going to tote it around. I may buy one of those glasses cleaning clothes and wrap it in that, but the magnetic portion could still be an issue.

So far, the DInc is the only device that I personally feel holds a candle to the 3GS.
