Android :: Set A EditText In A Certain Column Of A TableLayout?
May 5, 2010I have a TableLayout on one Android Activity UI. It has two columns. Now I need to add a new row, and put an EditText box in second column of that new row. And also, I want that EditText full fill the whole cell. I have some code like this:

It puts the EditText in the second column fine, but the EditText is too small. I tried to use etText.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT)); but that seems to disabled the TableRow.LayoutParams setting. I guess each control can only have one LayoutParamas setting. So, how to make the EditText as a 4 lines text editor and also make sure it is in the second column of that row?

Sep 29, 2010On my htc i was looking through display, i see g sensor calibration and i perform this calibration and after i do so the screen seems to have a delay when switch from the horizontal position to the vertical position. its weird because when i switch to the phone horizontally it switch normally and responds fast. but when i switch back to vertically it takes almost 7 seconds to actually switch back, sometimes it switch within 2 or 3 secs but never as quick as switching horizontally.

If you're already updated, shut down and repower (soft reboot) should do the trick. I actually updated my phone and after it started to do this. But I get an error within xml editor: "Error: No resource found that matches the given name (at 'style' with value '@android:style/ Widget_TextView')." It is strange because @android:style/ Widget_TextView definitively exists - I double checked it in code via android.R.style.Widget_TextView. Another strange thing is that I don't get android:style offered in the xml editor while typing? There is android:id, android:text and everything else.. but not android:style?
I consider the hard way (making EditText look like TextView) to be: extending EditText and overriding it's onDraw method.

If I make it with HorizontalScrollView, and the children with layout_width set to "fill_parent" code...
I can't scroll horizontally and only see one view.
If I set the layout_width with number like this: layout_width="320sp" then the two columns sit next to each other and I can scroll horizontally.
Do you have any idea how TweetDeck makes theirs?

Apr 20, 2010So I have an app on the market, and with an update I want to add some columns to the database. No problems so far. But I want to detect if the database in use is missing these columns, and add them if this is the case. I need this to be done dynamically and not just after the update to the new version, because the application is supposed to still be able to import older databases. Normally I would be able to use the PRAGMA query, but Im not sure how to do this with Android. I cant use execSQL since it is a query, and I cant figure out how to use PRAGMA with the query()-function.
Ofcourse I could just catch exceptions and then add the column, or always add the columns to each table before I start to work with it, but that is not a neat solution.
Android :: ScrollView With EditText - Scrolling In EditText
May 14, 2010Our app (WordPress for Android) uses a ScrollView for the new blog post view. The issue is that if a user writes a lengthy blog post in the EditText, they are unable to scroll inside of the EditText because the ScrollView seems to be taking over the scrolling action, even when you are in the EditText.

I've narrowed the problem down to the TextView's layout_width attribute. If I give it "wrap_content", it works, but doesn't "block" down, and it appears on the same line as the EditText.

Nov 10, 2010I'm attempting to create a method that will allow me to retrieve a value from the last row of a database, and then insert it into an EditText field. (This is a value that the user will not change all that often, so it would be helpful if when they do set it, it stays set when they come back to it).
My method, based on a similar method I have for getting the total of a specific column, is as such. code...
If I run the program without this statement, it works fine and the value saves to the db. As soon as I try to run it with this, I get a force close. Any suggestions?

Android :: Android - EditText And Button - When Click Button - Unfocus EditText And Hide Soft Keyboard

I have this at the top of my application. When the application starts, the EditText is orange highlighted and has a cursor in it; when the EditText is tapped, the soft keyboard pops up. The user uses it to type into the EditText.
However, when they click the Button, my onClick method fires and does everything it's supposed to, however the soft keyboard stays on screen and the EditText is still highlighted with its cursor.
I also have, at the top of the Button onclick: findViewById(R.id.name).clearFocus();
In spite of this, the EditText does not seem to clear its focus. How do I make the button actually act as if it is submitting the form?
Also, I do not transition to a different Activity on the click of the Button. I suppose that is the typical case, and probably the reason why they don't bother hiding the keyboard. However I want to keep the search box and button at the top of the screen, so I just dynamically fill and add views to the screen when the Button is pressed. How can I achieve my desired behavior?
Motorola Droid : Touchscreen Is Randomly Pressing In Exact Straight Line Near 2nd Column
Aug 3, 2010My touchscreen is randomly pressing in an exact straight line near the 2nd column. Utilizing a program called steamy window, I could see exactly where the touchscreen was being touched. See attached photo.
Some Diagnostic Info:
- I live in SC where it has been quite hot.
- It first started this weekend after being in the car dock for 15mins. Afterward the phone was very warm.
- It seems to stop after the phone has cooled.
- It started happening again today in a 78 Degree air conditioned apt. after using the phone for 30mins.
- After letting it sit to type this, it has seemed to stop.
- Pressing the edges of the screen seems to reproduce the issue.
- Moisture stickers still have the red x's on em.
- My screen is as clean as can be
From reading other posts, I'm well aware it could be a moisture/humidity/heat thing. But it shouldn't be doing it in my AC'd apt. I'm also aware some say its greasy fingers/screen. But as I've mentioned my screen is very clean & it still does it.
Some History:
I've had my Droid since November. I've dropped it ONCE on the pavement some time in January/February. Afterward everything has worked fine. About 2/3 months ago I noticed my screen started randomly clicking things. (In my Apt.) Fearing it was going to call someone, I immediately did a battery pull & cleaned the screen. Everything was fine until this weekend.
I'm getting married mid august, and don't have a whole lot of time/money to fix this, but need the phone desperately during the next month. I was hoping someone would have some advice for me.
I do not have insurance. Is this covered under some warranty?
I am rooted (CM5.07/No Theme). Should I do a factory reset b4 I take it in?
Will they do anything other than tell me I'm screwed?
