Android :: Droid Incredible Tell Who Is Calling?
Apr 23, 2010
If the person isn't in my contacts, will it just show me the phone number or will it pull some information about where the number is located and maybe even who is calling?
Most caller IDs can do this for landlines.

It doesn't have a front facing camera like Evo BUT the Fring app works perfectly and will let you do video calls with the Incredible. This is actually excellent news for me. A lot of the times I couldn't care less who sees me but I want to see them (daughter, wife, etc.). This way they can look at what I'm looking at while I see them.

Been calling home on my incredible for a couple of months now and got a nasty surprise when I got my bill.I decided to download Google Voice to call internationally as I found it's rates to be cheaper than Skype.Bill came in and again to my surprise it seems I'm getting charged by Verizon and GV now.SO what is the cheapest way to call internationally from my android phone.is it Skype, do you know a fix for GV, the international plan from Verizon (f that) or another app.

Could someone write a tutorial for setting up free voice calling without using VZ minutes or point me to one that works with the Inc? It's kind of confusing because it's not just one app that gets it all going. Help! I'm out of minutes!

I like how the Google Voice looks when making calls. Is there any way to make it look like this all of the time, not just using Google Voice?

Do I really need to change all my phone numbers to have area codes in them? When people call, for example, it shows 619-423-5666 instead of "Work" which is saved as 423-5666. Do I really have to change every one of them and start saving numbers w/ zip code?

Looking for a tip here.
How do you look up a local phone number (for calling) or address (for nav).
I have tried Yellow Pages, magnifying glass (search), and a few other apps but nothing is working great for finding the closest Pizza Hut for example (had a gift certificate). What do you use?

On the LG Dare when I couldn't pick up my phone and I had to ignore a call after I pressed ignore it gave me the option to send a quick text which was a presaved text message to the person who was calling me. Can the incredible do this? Or there an app that can?

I want to make an application using android which does the following:
Starting Step: Asks user to use audio file or text(English)
1. Picks a phone number at random(or based on certain query) from database,I read that android uses sqlite 2. Makes a call to this number and plays the selected sound file OR the entered message using Text to speech. 3. When call finishes Update the database 4. Repeats the process till application is open
I am new to Android Developer's Community. So Please tell me if it is possible or not to make such an application and also tell me how much time and effort will it take? Will it be easy or tough for a beginner?

I am calling intents alot in my program and I thought that I could write a public class that would have all of my intents so I can just call something like intents.testIntent(params) and then have it fire off the intent.
I tried it out but am getting a force close with a null pointer exception. This is my whole class. I know it is probably sloppy but I have just been learning java for 2 months so I still am an amateur. Any way, my code...

I came across a droid1 theme called Luna Theme. The website from the creator is here: The LUNA THEME for Android - Anthem Of The Sun. I contacted them and basically was told that he doesn't have a droid x to test the theme on and doesn't know the differences between the droid1 and the droid x. If someone who is good at porting themes over to the DX could/wants to port it they can contact him at luna@anthemofthesun.com. I personally would donate to see this come to fruition.

Does anyone know, is there a way to turn off calls (so the phone doesn't make or receive calls, they just go straight to voice mail, as if the phone was turned off) but still have 3g Internet turned on?
There are some days where I don't want any calls, and would just like to browse the Internet on my phone uninterrupted.

So on my way to class the other day listening to the media player in the car was just fine, I plug it in to one of those little FM transmitter things and it bounces along under my e-brake handle just fine. But when I parked my car and plugged in my headphones things went bonkers. It started skipping tracks, fast forward, and rewinding tracks, and finally started calling people, I called a friend of mine 4 times. When it started doing it again tonight I did some investigating and discovered that it's recognizing my headPHONES as a headSET. I tried it with my roommate's headphones and it started as headphones but if I twisted the plug the little microphone would appear. So I guess this is a 2 part question.
1.) Can I turn off the microphone of a headset through the phone?
2.) Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you fix it?
Ok that's 3 parts but who's counting.

I don't know if this has been asked before, sorry if its a repeat questions. I'm trying to help out my co-worker, he had a palm treo and now has a Moto Droid. His palm treo would anounce the person's name that was calling, he liked this for when he didnt have his phone near him, he would know who was calling and knew if to rush and get it or not. I'm not a android user YET, I have a Curve and waiting for the Nexus one to go on vzw to do the switch, so I have no idea if this option he's looking for is available for his Droid.

I have google voice set up to make all calls. But whenever I call out, I call out using the phone's number, and not my google voice number. I've tried looking through all the settings on both the app and the desktop version and have not found anything that works. I still get my SMS through the app, so the service is working. I just can't get it to call out using my google voice number, and this was automatic on my incredible

This started today. When I call my wife, or receive one from her for that matter. The name displayed is her google chat name, not her name. Under her contact there are 3 numbers listed. Work, Home and Cell. If I call her work, it displays her actual name, but the other two display her google chat name. Don't know what happened.

ever since 2.1 I have noticed all outgoing calls turn on speakerphone by default - and in coming also trigger speakerphone. PITA to place calls, or get them, and always have to turn off speakerphone button. Anyone know why or how to stop it? I cannot say for sure it is 2.1 issue but that is newest change I recall.

I've now heard this from a few different callers (2 in the last day). They are hearing an echo of their voice. They are calling me and it's happened when I have called them.I'm calling from my phone (no bluetooth or speaker). When it's happened I've called back and it's cleared the issue, a couple of times it hasn't. Do you think it's a hardware or network issue?

I just pre ordered my DROID by calling into Verizon Wireless Sales, their main number and they give the instant rebate over the phone if you do it over the phone ... so yeah just wanted to give a heads up.
I won't be getting my phone on friday, anyone who pre orders over the phone will NOT get your phones on friday, it would be like tuesday or wed...
I'm actually fine with waiting because i know i will get one.
Another FYI- the verizon rep over the phone said they have 65,000 units to sell for PHONE sales... this is seperate then what best buy and verizon stores are getting..
