What I want to do is that when a normal key (such as "A") is pressed from the onscreen keyboard, I can be notified to do something just like when that key is pressed from real keyboard. But it seems EditText can not receive onKey event from onScreen keyboard.How can I do that?

Is there a way I could capture the Keyevents of a softkeyboard(qwerty usually) ? I need the keyCode of the key pressed, so can't really rely on the onTextChanged Listeners. After seeing many posts regarding the same through different forums, I wasn't able to find any suitable solutions. I am a beginner with android applications and Java.

Works well with Android soft keyboard, but it has issues with HTC soft keyboard, like the one found with HTC Hero. Specifically, problem is when a user selects an "alternate" key from a small pop-up window following a long-press on a key. With Android soft keyboard, my View is receiving onKeyDown event only from a selected alternate key. With HTC soft keyboard, onKeyDown event is received for both the original key (the one that was long-pressed), and the alternate key selected from a pop-up menu. I can't figure out a way to determine if certain key events need to be cancelled or not. (I am dealing with Android 1.5).

Now i am able to capture the hard keyboard's, i.e. computers's keyboard, events, but i am not able to capture the sofkeyboard's key events. There are some keys like numbers, enter, delete etc. in the softkeyboard which i am able to capture using onKey, but i am not able to capture the alphabets and other keys. i also tried setOnKeyboardActionListener, but didnt get the desired results,( may be i was not using it correctly). Can any one suggest how to capture the click of alphabets on the sofkeyboard.

The dpad right event using Bluetooth devices, then it takes my keyboard service would like to pass on Android system or highest focus view(ex. system dialog, menu...etc). but I don't know how.
I'm not a software developer, but I have done enough reading online to get the Android SDK, Eclipse, and the necessary downloads to get it all working.
I am able to capture device screenshots using the DDMS, but I need to capture full motion video of the system OS and apps for an Android TV commercial.
So far I've called the manufacturer and several software guys, but haven't had any luck. I've even tried the HDMI out, but it's not pixel accurate, which is very important.
There has to be a way to do this, since the apps are featured in other commercials and videos, and I don't believe that the only way to do it is to film the device's screen.
No matter how complex the answer and solution to this might be, I'd love to find out. Even if it means bringing on someone to execute it.
It needs to be at least a 20-30 fps capture.
I want to listen for the touch events from Lock Screen and Home Screen, is there any way i can tap those to my applications.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new in Android and i am working to make an on-screen keyboard which can be visitable via arrow(direction) keys of my external keyboard. I mean i wanna move left, right, up and down in the on-screen keyboard's UI (keys) with pressing arrow keys from my external(hardware) keyboard. The key that cursor is on should be focused, when i press an arrow key from my external keyboard the focused key should change and when i press "enter" from my external keyboard it should be operated.(written to the screen etc.) How can i make this? Is there any idea? How can i make virtual keyboard's keys visitable? It doesn't look like moving around a matrix of buttons.

I then use PuTTY to telnet to 127.0.0.1:4321
I can issue a command like tap 100 100 I get a response OK but I see nothing happening on the UI. I have placed a button at that location but I does not receive the touch event.
When I run monkey like this
monkey -p <MY PACKAGE> --pct-touch 100 -v 10
I see touch events being dispatched to the screen.
Dont get me wrong, the QWERTY keyboard is sick, and I love it. But after typing on the keyboard for while, I wanted to switch it up, so I tried the on screen key pad. And to my surprise, the on screen keyboard appears to be much quicker than using the QWERTY!
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a list activity that creates a header row above the data rows from the adapter. I want to receive click events when the user selects the header or a data row (but my data rows have check boxes in them, so this part is tricky). When I use the touch screen, I get this expected behavior:
1. Tapping on any row causes a click event and a dialog appears.
2. Long-pressing on a data row causes a context menu to appear.
3. Long-pressing on the header row does *not* show the context menu.
However, when I use the arrow keys (emulator) or trackball (G1), I get this unexpected behavior:
1. Selecting any row fails to cause any click events, even though the row's appearance changes like it's being clicked.
2. Long-pressing on the header row *does* show the context menu, which I don't want.
3. Occasionally, it doesn't focus the correct row when I move up or down (e.g. it skips from the header to the last data row).
Is there a way to see summary of e-mail and calendar events on the unlock screen? Would be nice to see my next appointment on the screen instead of unlocking and having a look.
I searched but didn't find anything.
So instead of going the rooted route out of fear of voiding my warranty and tampering with my phone, I've done extensive searching on how I can capture screenshots using my Mac OSX (10.4.11). I'm at my wit's end after encountering a multitude of issues and have even tried using a Windows PC which didn't work either for a different reason. Every time I try opening up the DDMS on my Mac, there's a window that pops up saying: There is no default application specified to open the document "ddms". After seeing if certain applications would make it open, it doesn't work. Where do I go from here? Aside from having the latest Java software (which I'm not even sure, although whenever I check for updates there's no option for it on the list), do I need anything else to make it open and operate? If anyone could help me out here I would GREATLY appreciate it. I wanted to drop in on the "Post your Screenshots!" thread but I would've looked like a pendejo with my ghetto-fab pictures of my phone shot from my digital camera.

i would like a program that take pictures with the camera in my samsung galaxy s. i do some long walks and i am hoping someone can make a program that takes a picture every preset time intervals so i can join all the pictures into a movie. i was thinking to just have my phone in a strap around my neck. then the camera would take a picture every say 10 seconds and save image to the sd card.

For HTTP debugging purposes, I'm try to set up Fiddler to capture and display the HTTP traffic from my application. I've installed Fiddler2 and have tried various configuration options to get it to recognize the HTTP traffic.
I've set the "http-proxy" arg to -http-proxy 127.0.01:8888 in the Eclipse Target-Additonal Emulator Command Line Options. (I've even tried 10.0.2.2). I've also run the emulator from the command line, I start Fiddler and then my application. My issue is that Fiddler is not recognizing any of the HTTP traffic.
I'm looking for help in figuring out how to configure Fiddler2 and the Android Target to have Fiddler capture the HTTP traffic .
I need my activity to handle HOME button press with a receiver programmatically, but the event is not firing. I can,however, successfully register and capture this intent filter if I declare it in a manifest.xml activity section.Does anyone know why this doesn't capture the home button click?By the way, I tried working around this by creating another activity and specifying its intent filter in the manifest. I set the activity enabled="false" in the manifest but I couldn't figure out how to enable that activity at run time. Bottom line, I only want to register the home button intent filter for my application only when my application is running, and I can't figure out how to do that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.
