Android :: Cant Catch OnItemClick When Use CheckBox In ListView / Fix It?

I want to use ListView each Item of wich has checkBox. I want checkBox check and uncheck when I click it and some processes runing when I click on item, but not on the checkBox. I'm trying to use this layout as item...
checkBox checks and unchecks as I want, but OnItemClickLictener doesn't catch anything when I click on Item. However it makes what I want if I choose and click it using trackball. What should I do?

I kind of have a 2 part question here.
1) How can I populate my ListView so that strings are what is displayed, but when items are selected, a non-visible id value (contact id from phone contacts) is the value that is actually used?
2) I have a ListView that's using multipleChoice mode for item selections. It's popluated with names from my contacts list. When I select an item in the ListView, I want that selected item to trigger a call to my SqLite routine to store the value into a database record. How do I make this event fire when an item is checked in the listview?I had hoped to be able to use something like the onClick event for each checked item, but have made not one bit of progress.

I'm trying to bind data from my SQLiteDatabase to a ListView. I'm currently using a SimpleCursorAdapter to fill in my ListView. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with setting a CheckBox's checked attribute. This is how I do it now; instead of changing the CheckBox's checked status the adapter is filling in the value to the text argument, so the value is displayed right of the CheckBox as text.
Java:

new String[] { Datenbank.DB_STATE, Datenbank.DB_NAME }, new int[] { R.id.list_checkbox, R.id.list_text } ) );

I think I've tried everything(made focusable:false!!) and I cant capture in anyway the selected checkbox on my list item. Even OnItemClickListener, doesn't respond to any click. How can I retrieve checked checkboxes in my list item? My list item included: image view, 4 textviews and the checkbox. Some code:

I've tried many ways. many listeners, can't figure how to capture listener to my checkboxes. The data I am binding to the list items from the database, isn't concerned about the checkbox.. only the textviews. There isn't any connection between the database and the checkbox I have in the list's item.

I want other checkbox unchecked automatically when I click one of them. So it is like a single choice. I write following codes which can implement multiple choice but when I try to switch it to single choice I got trouble.
in checkBoxOnClickListener I cannot find other (checkbox)view and toggle them. Any suggestion pals? Let me know if you think my express skills poor. code...

Currently I have a list view within it each row has a checkbox attached. I would like that once any checkbox is checked, at the bottom of the screen a view displays, and once none of the checkboxes are checked, the view automatically disappeared. Possible to do this?

I'm sure this is an obvious one but I'm at a loss. I'm using my own layout for list rows, all well and fine. but the moment I add a checkbox view to the rows layout only the checkbox responds to user selection. I'd like for the checkbox to change state if the user taps anywhere within a given row. (as with android prefs)

I cant find a way to save the checkbox state when using a Cursor adapter. Everything else works fine but if i click on a checkbox it is repeated when it is recycled. Ive seen examples using array adapters but because of my lack of experience im finding it hard to translate it into using a cursor adapter. Could someone please shed the light as to where onItemClick() function gets called as callback when I click on the item of a ListView?
In core/java/android/widget/AdapterView.java:
onItemClick() belongs to the interface OnItemClickListener of AdapterView.
The listener is set through setOnItemClickListener() of AdapterView.
The listener is only invoked in performItemClick() of AdapterView.
The listener is also invoked indirectly in performItemClick() of ListView.
But, I still don't know where exactly onItemClick() of the listener will get called when I click on the item of a ListView. Logically it should be like:
device -> kernel driver -> dalvik VM -> my app.
Could someone please tell me the exact code that calls onItemClick() when I click on the item through the device?

I have a gridView that I display in a popupwindow (the gridview is in a transparent layout, which inherits from linearlayout and just has a partially transparent background). I can never get this GridView's OnItemClick to execute. When I touch an image in my gridview it appears to be clicked (image bachgrond changes), but OnItemClick is not being called.

I have code in my activity's onCreate that sets an onItemClick listener. when it fires I try to show a ProgressDialog that will be up until a subsequent thread "Thread" does it's processing. Strangely to me, the progress dialog never shows until *after* the thread.run() processing is complete. Almost like it's blocking. Am I doing something wrong? this is true even if the run method of doCurrentLocation doesn't do anything.

I'm writing an app dealing with JPEG pictures. The main Activity let the user slide between a set of pictures, but if these pictures are too large (imagine a set of pictures taken with a 12Mpix camera, not resized), the pre-loading of the second picture throws an OutOfMemoryException that leads to an immediate app VM shutdown whereas I surrounded my calls to BitmapFactory.decodeXXX() whit a try/ catch(Exception). So, the user gets an error message making him think the app is unstable, and the app didn't have any chance of telling him what really happened. How can I handle this a more "user friendly" way? Can I predict the memory size that will be necessary to load a compressed JPEG picture?

I was in my jeep the other day when I heard a ad for some song and a itagging...That got me thinking. Now before the fanboy name calling starts, this is not a comparison to iPhone. I have never owned one, nor shall I ever. I think for the android based phone to compete more with the whole iphone market, I think we need to develop our own brand of iTagging, our own brand of iPhone docks, and our own version of iTunes. I understand that the iPhone has been out for a long time and has had the media market to back it up. Heres the thing. There are way more versions of android based phones that there will be of iPhones. I know that there are a lot of variations of the phones, but its nothing adapters cant fix for the docks. as for the itagging, and the itunes apps, its nothing a dev cant handle. I am not a Dev, nor am I a manufacturer, but Im sure some of us can find a friend of a friend who knows this guy that lives down the street to help out our cause...

This would be some excellent support for the faithful Android developers. I have eight apps but live in Canada so I haven't been permitted to post them on the Market yet. Still I'm hoping Google might take this into account for Canadian developers who can't yet meet the sales criteria. I applied anyway and hope Google will respond so I can begin mobile testing.

There is a site in the uk called m.catchuptv.com that steams live tv on to the phone. it was originally an iphone thing, but now works on android. The last couple of days it has stopped working where it times out and cant connect to the server. I dont know if its my phone (htc desire) or its the site. it works best over wi-fi.
