Android :: Android Bluetooth Development - Problem Connecting

Mar 17, 2010

I'm trying for hours and couldn't find an answer anywhere online nor in my Logs. I'm trying to establisch an RFCOMM Link by Bluetooth between an external Device that implements the SPP 1.04 Profile. Here is the output from sdptool:

CODE:...........

The Device just provides this and doesn't have any input or screen. And it does work with Linux etc.

I'm using the following Code in order to establish an Connection:

CODE:.................

If I look at the dump, everything works until I try to connect to the socket and I don't understand why it isn't working after that. Here ist the dump Look for the TAG ThinBTClient for Log Output.

CODE:..............

E/THINBTCLIENT( 5991): BT GPS connected

CODE:.............

E/THINBTCLIENT( 5991): TRYING TO CONNECT

CODE:................

Here it stops. Am I using the wrong UUID

There is some very important Information missing on the Android- dev Page about the Bluetooth API. The android.Permissions.INTERNET have to be set in the Manifest too, because without them creating a Socket will fail.

Android :: Connecting PC Via Bluetooth SNP

May 6, 2010

I have a widcomm example BluChat "WIDCOMM SDK RFComm Service" running on my PC with an USB dongle (BT-2400P). I would like to connect this chat from my HTC Desire. So I stared with the Java example http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/BluetoothChat/index.html. This is also using BT RFComm. If I'm using my HTC as a server it work's fine, but I would like to use my PC as a server. Then .connect() comes back with "Service Discovery Failure".

I have modified the UUID string in the Java example to match the PC-application

HTC Incredible :: Connecting Bluetooth

Jun 1, 2010

I have a set of "Anycom" stereo Bluetooth headphones, and when I try to connect them to my Incredible, the "pair" right away and the Inc recognizes them for what they are. The problem is all I get is a "Paired but not connected" message, under my Bluetooth settings. I hit "connect" and it does momentarily, then it goes back to that same message. I'm not getting the prompt for the "0000" pin input, which I think may be the problem as the headphones may be waiting for that to be inputted.

General :: Bluetooth Headset Not Connecting?

I've already connected different bluetooth things to my TF201 (with CM, so it's 4.3.1), but am not able to connect my bluetooth headset to it. The tablet just doesn't see the device. (I already had this problem before I installed CM). Is there something I could change in order to make it visible to the tablet. Most people issues around this is that they don't pair when the device is visible. (I assume that it is not related to the CM)

HTC EVO 4G :: Connecting To Monitor Via Cable - Two Bluetooth Devices

May 29, 2010

My gf's computer is going south, but all she really does is go online. If I were to find a way to connect her Evo to a monitor (this should be easy with and HDMI cable, right?), a mouse (bluetooth?), and a keyboard (can you do two bluetooth devices at the same time?), she'd be able to essentially have a computer when she docks her phone to all this, right?

But, does Andoid have an app and Evo the capability to bluetooth to a mouse and keyboard and is the HDMI cable the way to go to get the display on a spare monitor, or could I use the USB? Just thinking out loud here. Cell phone processors are fast enough to handle internet browsing and emailing, which is pretty much all she does, and the speed of the connection (we're in a 4G area) would make downloads fast. How could it be done?

Android :: Connecting Android Bluetooth Client Socket To Ubuntu Server Socket

Jul 15, 2010

I am writing an Android app that should exchange data to a server over Bluetooth, with the server side on a PC running Ubuntu, using the bluez library, in C (or C++).

My Android app fails (IOException) when I try to connect to my server socket on the PC.

Here is essentially what I in the java code (in Android, full eclipse project here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2968234/ThinBTClient.zip)

CODE:...........

This throws IOException after a timeout of 10seconds or so.

On the server side (in Ubuntu 8.10), I basically set up a Bluetooth server socket, along the lines described in the example bluez/sdp-register.c

Down below is my C++ program. To compile it do

g++ -I/usr/include/glib-2.0/ -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -o bt_server bt_server.cpp -lbluetooth

I can do the reverse succesfully, i.e. create a server socket in Android and connect from Linux, however this is not what I want to do!

I think either the problem has to do with my config of Ubuntu.

I put my iPad AT&T microSIM card in the Milestone using an adapter but Amazon sell the Euro version so it means no 3G in the USA, either with T-Mobile or AT&T.

Android :: Development Machine

Nov 24, 2010

With the latest SDK release, and the ability to download separate platforms releases into the SDK, the hardware resources required to develop for Android have increased significantly. Assuming that the developer targets all currently available seven platforms - that could take your dev machine to its knees. Taken alone the 'Android SDK Content Loader' takes nearly two minutes on a dual-core machine with 2GB memory.

As the title suggest the reason for creating this wiki is for everyone to list their development hardware configurations, and thus determine what is a well-suited machine for Android development.

The secondary reason for the wiki is that I'm trying to get my employer to provide me with a decent machine for development as I'm currently forced to work on a nearly 4 year old randomly-built machine, and expected to deliver great results. However, the reality is that my system keeps running out of memory, and I can hardly get a chance to write a few lines of code in between the numerous crashes.

Is Ubunto 9.04 compatible with development in Android? Before i ugrade, deploy on device was normal. Now, using 9.04, doesn't recognize it using "adb devices". This below is already set on my ubuntu: 1. Login as root and create this file: /etc/udev/rules.d/50- android. rules.

For Gusty/Hardy, edit the file to read: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666"
For Dapper, edit the file to read: SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", SYSFS{idVendor}=="0bb4", MODE="0666" 2. Now execute: chmod a+rx /etc/udev/rules.d/50-android.rules
