Sprint HTC Hero : Way To Disable Hand Free Activation On Phone?
Nov 9, 2009
Does anyone know how to disable the Hand Free Activation on the Sprint HTC Hero? There doesn't appear to be any way to remove the SIM. I need to disable the connection to Sprint. Can do the data but how is the voice disabled?
I'm running launcher Pro and during a missed call, I went to call log to text back, it defaulted to stock message program. It asked me which program I wanted to open and I accidentally chose stock and set it as default. How can I change it back to hand cent?
i am getting odd behavior from the default browser.I go to this (Rohars Roughnecks GuildWars™ Progress Tracker - Login Page) page to enter in login information but the silly phone wont bring up the keyboard to let me type.what does the browser key off to launch the keyboard?it seems to work on other sites.at least google.i dont browse alot on the phone.
I've tested two Voice to SMS Apps (Text By Voice, and Voice Text). The latter uses Google Voice Search for speech recognition. When I have a hands free bluetooth kit in my car connected, both apps listen through the microphone in the phone, not the hands free mic. This leads me to believe this may be an O/S limitation with Android 4.1.1 (I'm running on a Samsung S3). Can confirm that only the Phone app can use the hands free mic. Otherwise, it seems very odd/coincidental BOTH of these apps fail to use the hands free mic like the Phone app does.
Is there a simple way to enable / disable vibrate for the phone / notifications? I tried using the volume rocker, going to vibrate there. That works for the ringers, but not notifications. I mainly want to set / unset vibrate for gmail and Google Voice. I have tried various 3rd party apps like Volume Control / Audio Manager, but nothing seems to work consistently.
I have a Sprint HTC Hero w/ 1.5 (Nov 18 update). Can someone please share how to disable phone vibration when we dial a number? Also, I am using Handscent SMS, can you please also share how to enable phone vibration when writing a text message?
So I'm running android 2.1 on my Sprint Hero, but I want to disable the Sense UI so I can run the Android OS default home (just to check it out). Most of the things I've read online say to do the following...
1)settings 2)applications 3)manage applications 4)HTC Sense 5) Clear default
The only problem is, there is no default to clear. I can't even click on it and force close does not work.
I'm trying to show up for new service with Verizon and get the Incredible. But I cannot figure out if activation is free. I've had 3 online chats and have received different answers each time. In my last chat, they told me every possible answer, yes, no, depends, doesn't depend, what the website says, not what the website says.I tried to order earlier today, and I thought on the checkout screen it said free activation. Not sure whats changed. Now when I try it lists a $35 activation fee. But on the left of the screen is a box that says free activation, Friday-Monday, will be credited on 1st or 2nd bill.Things I changed was logging in through my university website (discount), and trying a 1yr commitment.I've been told several times that the free activation is only on a 2yr commitment. But I don't see it say that anywhere online. This whole process is not inspiring confidence in Verizon. I cannot get an answer to a simple question about the supposed free activation. They make the rules overly complex and keep changing them. They reps are clueless. Reminds me too much of Sprint.
I found this dock that is almost what I'm looking for, but I don't like FM transmitters. I prefer just to use a cable for the sound since it's clearer and I don't have to keep fiddling with stations when I get feedback. All the other docks that I've found are window mounted suction cup deals. Does anyone know of a dock that plugs into the cigarette lighter, but doesn't have the FM transmitter?
I was using PhoneFusion for voicemail but now I want to go back to Sprint Visual Voicemail. I cancelled my Phone Fusion accoint and I got a message telling me to disable call forwarding in order to get my messages in visual voicemail. How do I disable call forwarding?
Is there anyway to disable this in the messaging app because i like portrait for messaging since i have no lag there, but i do like to type in landscape on the browser. Am rooted running darchdroid 2.7 if it matters.
Got my new Hero and super excited! I am looking to disable notifications in my IM app (IM+ by shapeservices) - is this possible? Reason being - I dont that when I get a message it shows in the notifications bar... is there some scripting I can do? is there a IM app out there that doesnt show any type of notification when an IM is received?
I recently purchased a Sprint HTC Hero, updated to 1.56 and it still has horrendous battery life. I charged it to 100%, unplugged it, didn't touch it once and 4 hours later the battery was almost dead. After troubleshooting I think that the ZERO cellular reception I get in my home is the culprit. I believe that the phone is constantly searching for service and causing a battery drain. The HTC Sense widget only turns off the Cellular DATA, but not the actually radio. I would like to be able to leave WiFi on (i use Google Voice SMS at home) and disable the CDMA Radio alltogether.. is there a way?
New to the hero and i have a question. i have installed sms text to replace the hero app and now whenever a text comes in i get notification for both apps. how do i disable the hero text application? i don't really want to unistall it, just disable it. I'm getting the same thing with the voicemail program.
I am trying to download a ringtone onto my phone (which apparently gets downloaded to my sd card under download) but its saying I have no available space. Its a 2 gig mem card and i have 1.7 gigs left on it thats completely free. And my phone has 99mb of internal memory free. So a few hundred kb ringtone should not be saying this.
How can I find how much free space / memory I have left on my phone? RAM, MB, etc? I just rooted, installed a ROM and learned how to delete bloatware. Now I want to learn how to monitor my usage of space, and try to make my phone faster.
I have a Blaupunkt Melbourn car stereo with the Blaupunkt USB/Bluetooth Interface installed in my car and it used to work just fine with my Sprint Mogul and Touch Pro, but I can't seem to make it work with my Hero. When I pair the two, the radio only recognizes the Hero as an audio source and not as a phone. In other words, I assume I can stream music from the phone to the radio but I can't answer the phone with it. I should add that the connection icon shows up as audio headphones instead of a phone handset in the Bluetooth Devices screen. And this is just the opposite of what I need. I could care less whether I can stream music, but I need to be able to use the car radio as a hands-free device and as I wrote in the last paragraph, the radio worked perfectly in that capacity with my last two phones. So does anyone have any idea whether this is a phone problem or a stereo problem? Does anyone have any idea if there's a work-around? For that matter, does anyone have any helpful information at all?
So I rooted my phone, did a nanodroid back-up, and added a custom Rom. At first I flashed MoCaDo onto the phone but I had a lot of force closes. So I flashed Fresh .5 over MocaDo 1.1 and the force closes stop. The phone feels a lot zipper. I have WiFi tether. Spare parts is great. Now how do I move apps to the sd card to free up more space?
