First post here....biggest issue with the Hero is that when you are in a call, the screen time's out. If you are in a call that you need to hit numbers, then you have to hit the power button, then swipe, then get to your keypad. Is there a way of preventing the screen from timing out while in a call? If I switch to "never", will that stop it?
My Hero's screen won't time out anymore. It worked fine until today. I have the screen timeout setting set to 30 seconds and it just dims and stays dimmed without actually locking it completely. What other setting do I need to adjust?
is there a way to set screen timeouts to specific apps? For instance, when running navigation, can the screen time out be set to never timeout just for that app? I only want the screen to stay lite for certain apps.
Is there any way or app that will make the screen blank during a call? I have search and found nothing so far. It appears that the Hero does not have a proximity sensor so the screen stays active during a call and I am always touching it with my face which hangs up or launches something etc.
I've searched on here and can't find the threads. How do you turn off the screen when in a call? I'm tired of hanging up or pushing buttons while talking. And is there a better lock screen out there? I've looked on the market place, but haven't really found any. I want to have the choice of unlocking my phone when it rings before I can answer.
Also,I get delays on my messages where I can see there is a blinking light, but the sound won't notify me of a text until I wake up the phone. Anyone else getting hits? I use Handcent.
I'm having a problem with my screen timeout - nomatter what I set it to, it soon afterwards resets back to 30 seconds. I've tried 2 minutes, 10 minutes etc. and it might work immediately, but not long afterwards it gets reset.
The only thing I had running that I thought might possibly affect it was timeriffic, but I've deactivated that now and its still happening.
And yes, I know that apps like screenmodewidget and Screebl can be used to work around the problem, but I'd rather fix it!
Just setting up the display profiles on my phone....does anyone know how to change the screen time out for different scenes.....eg when I'm using my phone normally I want the display to timeout and lock etc, but when the phone is on charge at work or in the car I never want it to timeout.
Changing the timeout setting seems to apply for all profiles.
I have a UK 3 Hero and am running Screebl. I set the screen timeout for a minute but it keeps reverting back to 15 secs. I am changing the time in the phone's settings and Screebl's, but it keeps changing back.
1. Can't lock screen while in a call. Red button just hangs up the call.
2. Apps cannot be installed to sd card. Internal Phone Storage after a device wipe shows about 136MB free. I downloaded about 5 or 6 apps and the phone ran out of room. I deleted the apps, but the space was not reclaimed. This is why I had to reset the device. Now I am afraid to install apps without filling it up again.
3. Bluetooth does no always connect back to my headset. sometime I have to turn on/off bluetooth on phone. Sometimes I have to reboot phone. One time I installed Pandora and bluetooth would not work until I figured out that removing Pandora would fix it.
4. Camera is no good.
5. WIFI cannot connect to an N router running in mixed mode (a,b,g,n). You must "dumb" down the router to b,g mode in order to connect the phone. This means hat other users who have no issues with N have to suffer the reduced speed of b,g.
6. No way to "EXIT" an app to reclaim RAM.
7. KB not as accurate as the iphone.
8. I have disabled HTC Sense and it is still slow. For example, often when I load favorites, nothing displays for about 3-4 seconds. This is not acceptable.
Overall, not a very tested or mature OS. I feel like I should not be starting from scratch like this. The folks at Android are guilty of using the consumer as a guinea pig. This is not acceptable. We are not reinventing the wheel, so why are obvious features missing?
This just started happening lately. Every time I set my screen timeout to anything other than the default 30 seconds, it will just change itself back in a couple of minutes. I can't think of any apps I've installed recently that could possibly be causing this. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I have my screen timeout set to 30 seconds but now it doesn't seem to want to turn off like it should even when the phone is sitting still. I also turned off the email notifications so I wouldn't hear the sound in the middle of the night and it still plays the sound. Are these things that need a reboot before they take effect or might there be an actual problem with the phone?
On my previous phone it had a "full lock" feature on it that when a text message or phone call came in it would show all stars on the screen and require my password before you could answer the call or view the text message does the hero have that option or is there an app I can download?
I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..
Sprint has reportedly stopped charging $0.20 per min for call forwarding (Conditional only). See here: Google Voice & Sprint... 11/08/09 Inside Sprint Now. I've read tons of forums, discussions, web sites, and there's a lot of conflicting information and some Sprint reps are getting confused on this, it's new.
However, here's my general understanding:.................
I have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.
I posted this in the Support and Troubleshooting forum but didn't get any replies, so I thought I'd post it in the main forum.Hopefully some of you guys/gals/aliens (illegal or not, I don't mind) can help me out with this one.
I was messaging around today and found where to shut of the screen while charging, but I wanted to turn it back on and can't find where it is? Also before the update I could have sworn there was an option on the screen timeout to set it to never. Now I don't have that option.
Searched on here but couldn't find a dedicated thread for the Not Call Log application. For those of you like me who accidentally call someone after hanging up this app is for you.It is free and simple. You set the app to go to a default screen after hanging up with someone.I have mine set to go to the home screen. Just a heads up for anyone interested.
I wish it wasn't so hard to use data while on a call. It sometimes works with Wifi but in time it will disconnect, and not reconnect until you end the call. WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED! Its supposed to be a smart phone after all.
Two times in the last two days I had an issue where my Hero wouldn't call when selecting a contact or manually entering the phone number. Both times I turned the phone off and back on and it worked perfectly.
I have a problem with my HTC Hero with Google, can anyone solve this for me and what does it do. Error Code 67 .Registration Failure. Press [OK] For Options. Your PCS Vision User name and/or password may be incorrect.
Since I got my Hero in November, I've been able to use the internet while on a phone call through my Bluetooth headset.I've done it hundreds of times.Everything from surfing the web to clicking and viewing picture links in Twitter texts.Suddenly, tonight, I tried to do it and noticed that I had no internet connection. As soon as I hung up from the call, the internet kicked back on.I looked up what I was trying to look up and when I got another phone call, it kicked off again.I have looked up this issue and have read repeatedly that you can't do this on a CDMA network. My question is this...why was I able to do it for months and suddenly I'm not? I just did it last night!
I can't pinpoint if it's only happening under this circumstance or not but sometimes i will answer a phone call but not be able to hear the other person's voice but the call is still active and connected. The most recent time it happened I remember that I happened to have the phone in my hand when it rang so i answered it immediately but i heard nothing on the other end... they called back again and this time i let it ring twice before answering it and didn't have a problem that time...
I was using PhoneFusion for voicemail but now I want to go back to Sprint Visual Voicemail. I cancelled my Phone Fusion accoint and I got a message telling me to disable call forwarding in order to get my messages in visual voicemail. How do I disable call forwarding?
