Sprint HTC Hero :: Memory Card Swapped / Zip File With Stock Folders
Mar 22, 2010
Just got this phone last week, and besides the battery life I'm quite enjoying it. This weekend I was visiting some friends I haven't seen in a long time, we had a few beers and then got a bright idea. My friend has a work phone with an 8GB MicroSD card that he doesn't use. So, we swapped memory cards. Now I'm 4 states away and just now realized that I should have copied the folders onto the new card. Anyone have a zip file with the "stock" folders and info for these phones? I tried searching but it seems I have a rather unique twist to a common issue.
I bought a new 8gb transcend class 6 for my hero and took out the old card and put the new one in and formatted it. Looked at the original 2 gb card and has lots of folders. Question is: do I have to copy and paste the old folders to the new card or will the phone automatically set up new folders? Phone's relatively new so I don't care about the existing photos and whatnot and do I create specific folders myself i.e. mp3, pics, etc.
Hey for anyone that needs a good memory card for their phone for music or whatever. I found a deal on a kingston class 4 8gb microsdhc for $16.95 with free shipping and no tax for most: Kingston 8GB microSDHC Card - (Class 4) - SDC4/8GB - Buy.com
I Have the Sprint Hero A really Awesome phone. However, is it a programing issue or a operating system issue that all the apps run from the main memory, and you can't run apps from the memory card?I keep running out of memory.how can I avoid this problem?
I just want to be able to put apps on my external memory card. Do i have to root it to put apps on my external memory card?? also is it hard to use the Pre-Kitchen 0.2.? Does anyone have a video on how to use it? and after rooting it how do i get my apps on external memory?
So I was told by a Sprint rep that if the phone memory gets below about 80 MB then the phone will start to lag. Well I can't seem to delete enough stuff to get back above 80 MB available memory, I deleted pics, texts messages and various apps that I would have liked to keep. I started playing with my wife's phone which has more apps then mine, I checked her available phone memory and she has 102 MB!!! I can't figure out what I could have on my phone memory that would be taking up over 20 MB of space. Where can I look to try and figure this out? My wife's phone is very zippy and quick, while my phone waits forever when switching apps. Also, How do I transfer pics I have taken on my phone to the SD card instead of using phone memory?
I just installed the 2.1 update from sprint. is it possible to now install apps to my SD card rather than the internal phone memory? if so how is it possible? i installed appmonster and that seems to just backup apps.
Sorry if this has been discussed on here before but I did search for about 20 minutes and found nothing relating to what I am experiencing. I get the following error when trying to take pictures on my HTC Hero (Sprint) "Unable to save file to SD card due to insufficient file permissions" I have removed and replaced the card. It will work for about 15 minutes then the same error. I also backed up everything and formatted the card. It worked again for about 15 minutes then the same error.
I have a MP3 file I want to download from my Gmail account to my SD card, for the life of me I cannot get it to download, it shows preview but no option to download and save, am I missing something here ?
I have my phone coming tomorrow. I have done some research and I have downloaded the latest HTC sync and drivers for my windows 7. I have downloaded a few utilities as well. Anything in particular that I need to do to with the phone or any applications that have to be installed first? Also what file format does it use on the microSD card? Is it a linux format?
Do anyone have a file in the root directory of your SD card named search.trace? I have one that is about 8.5 megs. I took a look at it but it didn't look like the entries were specific to a particular app. Looks like some system log. Anyone know if there would be a problem deleting it?
Trying to figure out why I can't open file attachments from emails. Received some pdf files and two doc files today. Tried opening files from email with pdf reader program and quickoffice or whatever its called. Neither type of file would open. Tried to download then open files with same problem. Files are definitely .pdf and .doc, just opened and rad them on laptop now. Also confused...is there any way to look at my SD card folders and files through a phone app? Can't figure out how to see anything other then my music and photos.
I usually view email with attachments from my pc because I usually lack the time to download the attachment. Today, I had some spare time so I tried to download an attachment. It downloaded fine but when I went to view it, I received a pop-up box to save it to the sd card. After pressing ok, I was told the save was successful but now I can't find it. Aside from pics and videos, how do I access other folders with saved data?
I have a new Sprint Hero and really like it so far I have Comcast set up as POP email and it seems to work fine However, I only see 4 available folders: Trash, Drafts, Sent, Outbox. Is there a way to set up a Folder / sub folders to save email in?
On my Hero I have a lot of pictures that I want to move around to different folders only I'm not seeing an option to do this. How can I create a folder or move pictures from one folder to another one that was already created on my SD card?
New to this forum. Just bought my Hero the other day and am loving it! As a die-hard Apple fan who's stuck with Sprint, I'd say the Hero get's high marks in my book.Anyway, I'm a MobileMe subscriber and have all my various email addresses funneling down to my MobileMe account. I set up the Mail app to retrieve email from my MobileMe account via IMAP but am having a bit of trouble with the Sent and Trash folders. The Android Mail client is creating a secondary Sent and Trash folder even though "Sent" and "Trash" already exist in MobileMe. I noticed that there's also a Deleted Messages and Sent Messages folder as well in the Android Mail client.I tried out the K-9 Mail client which allows you to remap the folders (I remapped Sent to Sent Messages and Trash to Deleted Messages), but I'm not a big fan of K-9 and love how the default Mail app works.Does anyone know how I might be able to remap folders or get the Sent/Trash folder in the Android Mail client to map to the Sent/Trash folder in MobileMe?
I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread some time back but got no response.
This is what my file permission looks like.
I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.
When I mount my phone there are a lot of deferent folders that I have no idea what they are for, even empty ones. How could one manage their folders and content in those folders to minimize usage on the SD card? Example: I have repeated sound effects that I have downloaded. If I go to assign a notification sound it shows three or four of the same sound. Also, repeated picture folders.
When adding a new folder, it simply states: "Folder" Is it possible to give a folder a name? Modify the name of a folder? Re-name the folder? Once items are dragged into folders, can they be taken out? Dragged out? Deleted while in the folder? Seems I have to delete the entire folder and start over.
I'm assuming this is the easiest thing in the world. I just can't figure it out. I have 2 POP email accounts and I'm looking to delete several messages without having to click on the X next to each one. How can I delete ALL the emails in a certain folder (inbox, trash, sent, etc...)
