I've been dealing with this for quite a while - I'm finally just getting fed up with it to the point where I'm actually doing something about it. I use GV exclusively probably half of the entries in my phone history appear as "unknown". Its also hit-or-miss if the contact's name appears when i dial out or when they're ringing in. Also, when me and another contact call each other back and forth several times, sometimes their info appears, sometimes they appear as "(unknown)" -- its baffling me.
I am trying to take a phone number from my call log and edit it to be added to a contact without typing it by hand. On my Sprint Katana, when you clicked on the phone number in the call log, you had the choice to edit or append the number. On my Hero, when I press on the phone number, it calls it? Am I missing a step, or not holding the press long enough? I have searched and read as many as come up under a search, but I can't find any that address it from the call log issue.
I have a question about the "People (Contacts) app". Is it possible to have more than one phone number for a single contact? I am assuming so by the way the manual is written. I have tried to follow the instructions on page 34 of the manual "adding a number to an entry in People". Step 2 directions do not exist. "Tap ADD>PHONE". I do not see that as an option. Am I missing something?
Ok this is not a facebook question as all the others appear to be. however im not sure what is wrong, but whenever i make a call or get an incomming phone call from people in my phone book it no longer displays their photo, weather it is a facebook linked photo or a picture i linked from my SD card.
I have both gmail and facebook synced to my phone and have chosen to only sync fbook contacts that are already in my gmail. Problem is the picture selection seems to be completely random. Some contact pictures are from gmail, some contact pictures are from fbook and some are from gmail when I first setup the phone and never changed. Is there an easy way to help the phone 'decide' which photo to go with?
I have noticed when I go into my address book that phone numbers appear as (XXX) XXXXXXX. The number for text messages appear as (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Has anyone else seen the dash being left off for home / work / mobile numbers? Not a big deal.
I'm using Android 2.1 on the Galaxy S.I have multiple numbers defined per contact, e.g. mobile, work, home. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.
I've noticed that in the People app, the phone numbers are formatted like this: (xxx) yyyzzzz but phone numbers that are used in message fields such as "Send Message" are formatted (xxx) yyy-zzzz. Is there any way to have the phone numbers formatted using the dash? Why, you ask? Because it's easier to read when you are looking up a phone number to give to someone; and I'm old, so don't laugh at me! GMail's contacts formats them all with a dash, but I can't find a way to make the Hero do so.
I transferred contacts from my old phone (Samsung Instinct). One of the numbers was a voicemail for another location. On the Instinct you put in the numbers with a pause in the string which allowed you to delay entry of saved access codes until the right time. Is there a way to do this on the Hero?
Can't Port Number within the same carrier. Situation: I've been with Sprint since 1997. Long story short, I have a plan I don't want to give up: PCS Free & Clear Plan $27.00 per month 700 Anytime Minutes 1000 SMS Text Messages Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes* (Starting at 7 p.m.) Free Roaming Free Mobile-to-Mobile See blog post here: Bourne to Blog: Negotiating with your Mobile Phone Carrier. I wanted to upgrade to an Android phone, but this would require a "data plan". Some time ago, I was told that since I wanted to keep my plan, I could add unlimited data for an additional $30/month and keep the plan. However, about a month ago, I emailed customer service wanting to do this with the Android phone. They told me can't do this with the Android phone, you'll have to switch to data plan (essentially losing my plan). So, here's what I did: My dad got me an Android on his "Family Plan" along with my step-mom and step-sister. To add me onto his plan is just an additional $20 per month. So, this made the most economical sense (since I wasn't about to give up my old phone and plan).
I have turned off vibration in the settings but it still vibrated when phone/dial a number. Is there any way to turn this off as well? I liked it at first, but turning it off really speeds up the response time. For some reason it is still vibrating when I go to phone and start typing a number. The lag id horrible compared to typing with the vibrate off
So I have my Facebook account set to sync with my contact but I use Google voice all the time for text and phone. Is there a way to get the pictures that go with my contact to show up when they text or call my gvoice number?
All my pictures are from Facebook so if everything works right the pictures I see in gvoice should be the same as the profile pix in FB.
Prior to switching ROMs back and forth, I was able to nandroid off of my phone with no issue. Now, I cannot and at first I found it slightly alarming, but then I brushed it off. However, I feel like something might be wrong with my phone? Help?
Also, recently (as in today). My phone has been sending messages to other people, randomly. I got a phone call from my mother but it popped up as a totally different number.
Since I got my Hero in November, I've been able to use the internet while on a phone call through my Bluetooth headset.I've done it hundreds of times.Everything from surfing the web to clicking and viewing picture links in Twitter texts.Suddenly, tonight, I tried to do it and noticed that I had no internet connection. As soon as I hung up from the call, the internet kicked back on.I looked up what I was trying to look up and when I got another phone call, it kicked off again.I have looked up this issue and have read repeatedly that you can't do this on a CDMA network. My question is this...why was I able to do it for months and suddenly I'm not? I just did it last night!
It's been asked before but never answered as far as I can see. want to send Contact A's phone number (and only the phone number, not the whole contact) to Contact B by SMS. If I go into People and press menu-> more->Send Contact, the hero attached a Vcard to an MMS. Which I don't want. Just the number. What's more, Vcard sending doesn't even work when sending to another Hero let alone to another type of phone. Any tips? Handcent doesn't appear to do this either.
is there a quick way to silence any ringtone or notification on the phone. when your in a public place and suddenly your phone is the loudest thing on earth.i'd like to be able to push a button or do something that makes it immediately stop. with my blackberry i pushed the buttons on the side (volume buttons) and it made it stop.i can't figure it out on the hero.
So this started a week or so ago. I don't receive text messages unless I'm on a phone call. So until I call or receive a phone call. I don't get any messages. Once I do call. i get like 5 messages. anyone else have this problem? Quite frustrating. Called sprint to reset network n stuff but still no resolution. They said to hard reset but I'm reluctant.
