Sprint HTC Hero : Can't Upgrade To 1.56.651.2 - Firmware Update Always Reported No Update Available
Dec 2, 2009
I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the "Update Available From Sprint" thread, making sure I was on v1.29.651.1, yada yada. Worked on this for a week and a half. Spoke with Sprint, spoke with HTC, no luck. Going to firmware update always reported NO UPDATE AVAILABLE.
Took the phone back to Best Buy and demanded an exchange. After receiving the new phone, went to try to firmware update, it showed that one was available. I asked for my old battery back since it was charged fully so that I could do the update. Put my old battery back in, went to update, NO UPDATE AVAILABLE!
Turns out it was my battery? Put the new one back in and the update was successful. I had scoured the net before but did not notice anyone with this particular issue. I
I bought a Hero in April of this year. I have tried to download the firmware update 2.1 but my phone says there isn't an update available.I'm currently running version 1.5, software version 1.56.651.2.I have tried to update the firmware through my computer (Macbook) but the files are Windows programs.Any advise?
I have the 1.5 right now as i didnt see any reason to update as my phone has left me happy. But i consider it now and want to know will i loose my apps if i update say i have shapewriter and its no longer avalible on the market and i update will i not be able to get it back.
The version of the software that is most current is version 6 (the phone shipped with version 3).
To ascertain version: Go to Dialer/Hit Star/#9999#
You will see the PDA; Phone; and Software Version numbers in this section The T939xxxx6 for PDA AND PHONE and then Software Version - ending in .006 on the last line.
I was told that the reason that I keep seeing the "No update file exists" message when I check "update firmware" is because I have the latest version.
At some point my phone was updated without giving me a message. I did notice the red and blue arrows yesterday. But there was no message. My SD card mounted and dismounted on its own and gave an error message, and then all references to the error and SD card disappeared.
If your phone is/has exhibited this sort of behavior, you may already have the update.
i have a few questions, the first,is rom update and firmware two diffrent things?just got the htc hero on orange uk and tried to download the rom update for orange and it said my phone wasnt applicable, fair enough if its up to date but then some applications say i need a updated firmware,if this is a diffrent thing, how do i update it as there is no link on the actual phone as would be on other phones and cant find any such link on the site to download it?
I have the HTC Hero/T-Mobile G2 Touch and I still do not have the latest firmware 2.1 update on it. I've got as far as changing the year to 2013 and it brings up the request to update the phone. I select to update it and it turns off my phone to install.
It then loads but stops half-way and it just shows a white triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle with an image of a phone underneath. The update does not continue from there. I've tried it at least 4 times and it's done the same every time.
just updated my Htc hero (GSM) firmware 1.5 to 2.1 through the system settings>update without Rooting it ;( Now it wont go ahead of boot screen, just hangs on the hero screen
1) Tried removing battery/sdcard didn work 2) Recovery mode - It is showing me a Hero with a triangle having " ! " mark 3) In System recovery utiltity (home+power) - tried wipe data, it works - but when i try apply sdcard:update.zip -> E:cant open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file/directory).Installation Failed
it also shows me this error : E:can't open/cache/recovery/command
I just installed the firmware update for HTC Hero when it prompted me to download it and install on my phone. Everything is great, EXCEPT, my touch input keyboard always stops unexpectedly when i try to use it. i can't type anything with it! the message i get:
Sorry! The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. FORCE CLOSE.
Does anyone have an idea what the difference is between the Firmware Update - 1.47.651.1 (21.43 MB) and the HTC software update 1.32.651.6 (13.14MB) is? My phone prompted me to do the Firmware update this afternoon and it worked great. I checked my wifes EVO this evening and noticed she still had the older software version 1.32.651.1.When I checked for a Firmware Update nothing is available for her phone. However, if I check for the HTC software Update it shows 1.32.651.1 is available for download. This isn't the same version I was prompted to download this afeternoon.
Please Post all Sprint Hero update rumors here. This not to be confused with the " Official 2.1 Thread. I would also sugest to our ever so patient moderators to move any post of this nature to this thread. Let's clean up the forum and when the update is out out we can get rid of all this with one flush.
I searched up Android 2.1 on Google and I Found a website with Sprint Hero - 2.1 leaked! "Website: Sprint HTC Hero Android 2.1 Upgrade Leaked" Rumors have been flying around the web about Spring releasing an official Android 2.1 upgrade for their HTC Hero mobile phone. The dates for the Android 2.1 upgrade for the Spring HTC Hero have been speculated to be either on April 29th, and others simply by the end of April. But according to BlogsDNA.com, hackers at XDA Developers forum have leaked a Sprint HTC Hero test ROM marked: RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2.20.651.1_signed_test The stands for Radio Unit Update, and is a common package that HTC phones of all kinds use, from Windows Mobile Phones to Android Roms.Without a doubt, the remaining days in the month of April building up to be full of high profile mobile phone announcements.Expected this month (April) are the HTC Incredible and Nexus One at Verizon, and now this, the Sprint HTC Hero Android 2.1 upgrade. Rumors were also spreading about a possible iPhone / Verizon deal being announced. We ve already had the iPhone OS 4.0 announcement. And of course, I would be remiss to leave out the iPad announcement from Apple.
Well recently I rooted my phone and flashed the cSrOm(crunchysoft rom) and iv'e been wondering how do you update the phone firmware like at the moment before I flashed I was running android 2.1 can I like install 2.2 when its available using the PC and htc sync
I have Fresh 1.1 with Gumbo. How do I update my fresh to 2.0c? Do I just drag the file to root then flash it in recovery without doing anything else? And after I am done doing that, do I have to install a newer version of gumbo or will it still be there?
I was trying to update to 2.1 using the Sprint update tool and it froze. I tried again and my phone is able to go into download mode, but it isn't recognized by the update tool. I also cannot boot my phone normally.
Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not the MR update is coming pre-loaded on the new Hero's? Like if you bought you're Hero in the last few weeks and whether or not you had to do the MR update after you got it?
I had been using Fresh Rom 2.0d by flipz since last night, and got everything setup, last night I had trouble updating the Profile and PRL so this morning I tried it again and succeeded the PRL update, unfortunately right after the PRL update the Sprint Network never came back. I can ROAM when I switch off Sprint Only but no Sprint Network. What can I do to resolve the issue? Tried resetting the phone to no help, pulled the battery and reset, also attempted to update PRL and Profile again but without Service it won't do either.
My phone was lagging when I would make a call, last night I was playing with it and I updated my profile. So far my phone makes calls a lot better, not much of a lag. Menu>Settings>About Phone>System Updates> Update Profile
So I just flashed the new Damage Control ROM (2.08) on my Sprint HTC Hero, and I wanted to flash the .zip file for live wallpapers.....how do I do this? Am I supposed to rename it as update.zip or something and put it on my sd card? and then what...?
