Last night I updated to X10i on the PC Companion. At first I freaked out when I turned by phone back on, but then began to enjoy the new look etc. However, I noticed that browsers and apps DO NOT work (Android Market, Facebook, browser etc) whenever I'm connected to my Wi-Fi at home, but when I turn the Wi-Fi off and let it go to 3G, they all work fine...wtf? My phone was sitting 2 metres away from the signal. It's definitely connected as it has the Wi-Fi logo on the top of the screen, it's just that nothing will load.I'm in Australia and we don't have the 2.1 update yet, so that's out of the question for now.
Some people keep asking how to downgrade back to 1.6. So I wanted to provide how to do it
Note: This will give you UK Generic R1FA016 firmware
1) Install SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service). You can get it from here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/down...-22.214.171.124.exe
2) Run SEUS, follow the prompts. You don't need to update the phone through it, but get the phone ready for updating. This process should install the drivers necessary for the rooting process.
Note: I suggest you keep your USB cable attached to that USB port. Remember which USB port of your computer it's attached to, as changing USB ports can lead to a bit of confusion for the next 2 steps!
3) To check if #2 was successful, click on Start, click Run, and type: regedit In the Registry Editor that pops up, click on Computer, press CTRL+F, and search for this: USBVid_0fce&Pid_adde
After it's finished finding, on the right side you'll see DeviceInstance, then it says REG_SZ, then it says something like USBVid_0fce&Pid_adde5&270d2a78&0&3 You'll need that last bit (in this example: 5&270d2a78&0&3 Yours would probably be different). This is your DeviceID (you'll need it soon!)
Note: You may have multiple of these if you plugged the USB cord into many USB ports on your computer. Each USB port will give a different DeviceID, so if you have more than one DeviceID, you'll have to choose one, and if it doesn't work (you'll find out when you reach #5!) you will have to choose another one.
Alternatively, download the file in the next step and extract it, go to the folder called 1st, and run the DeviceID.jar file. It should give your DeviceID
4) Download this: Download R1FA16 rar or from here: [url] Extract it. In the step1 folder, you'll see a file called DeviceID.txt Open it up, delete whatever's there, and put YOUR DeviceID (that you found from the previous step). Save the file and close notepad.
Note: Make sure there are no extra spaces or lines after/before the DeviceID. The ONLY thing that should be in the file is your DeviceID, NO SPACES/LINES (for example, only this: 5&270d2a78&0&3 [yours will probably be different])
5) Take out the USB cable from your phone (leave it plugged into your computer) Turn your phone OFF. Open up step1.cmd (it's not inside the step1 folder, but outside it), but DON'T PRESS ANYTHING
Now we have to put the phone into flash mode. This is how you do it: Hold the Back button on your phone, and while holding the back button, insert the USB cable into the phone. A green light should come on the phone (like when it's charging or a missed call) Quickly "Press any key to continue..." in the open step1.cmd window.
Let it finish what it's doing. It will say "Press any key to continue..." after it's finished. Until then, DON'T touch anything!

After completion, this will give you a Generic X10i R1FA016 firmware (check it by pressing the left button, go to settings>about phone and at the very bottom under build number) Keep your phone plugged into the USB.
6) Run SEUS to get to the latest firmware (do this before 2.1 is released in the UK if you don't want 2.1)
My X10i fails to install the update, it downloads and starts updating then about 2 seconds later says failed, it does this with PC Companion and SE updater, it does this on win 7 64bit and win xp whats going wrong?
Myself, started with backup and restore, backup was completed and also backed up my contacts to flash just in case. Hooked phone to PC companion and was informed an update was available. Followed through the update process and when the phone was disconnected and powered on as instructed I was still left with 1.6. Now when I connect to PC companion I am informed software is up to date with 1.6.
My phone is not able to communicate with any google server and as a result I cant access the Market, Facebook, Email and other such features which require a google account. It is showing "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server." This persists since I bought the phone about two weeks ago.
I have done several searches how how to transfer all my message from my nokia 5800 to my SE x10i. i had load of message on my sd from nokia, when i inserted the card and tried to import from sd card, it was telling me nothing to import.
I've just tried to update my X10 to the new 2.1 firmware, with absolutely no luck.I get through all the stages, everything works fine, no errors reported, everything reset on the phone, all looked great. But, when I check the version its' still at 1.6. And every time i connect it to the PC after the upgrade, it tells me there's an update available, just to go through the same thing again, and still leave me with 1.6. Any ideas?I tried uninstalling and reinstalling PC Companion. No change. I'm on Orange UK, and the update only became available to me today.
Even though I am still on a v1.6. Whenever I connection my phone try to do a update, it keeps saying that I already have the lastest software. Only gives me the option to repair or cancel. Same thing is happening if I search for the update from phone. I want v2.1.
i got the update notification for xperia x10 few days back, i quickily connected it to pc using pc companion and took the backup, then i started the update process, it reached till prepared, and after that it started initialization, but here the problem started. it was showing the initialization for 4 hours,i thought may be it hanged so i stopped it and disconnected the phone and restarted the update process, same thing happened this time. the progress bar doesnt show any progress after initialization, it showed 100% in initialization after some 4 hours but after tht nothing happened.i dont knw the problem, it can't be network problem, as i have a 1mbps connection and i checked the speed also before starting the update,i kept the update process as it is for 10 hours, but it still didnt show any progress from the last time.
Since last night (let's say about 36 hours) I haven't been able to download/update anything from the android market. Is just a problem with me or is the market down at the moment. Most frustrating. I really want to get a bookmark organiser.
hey guys hopefully you can help me out with this.i have an unbranded x10 that i am trying to update to 2.1.when i go to software updates on the phone it's telling me that it's available downloads it and starts to do the update but finishes early and says "unable to finish update" any ideas why it would just stop in the middle and not finish?
I've just downloaded the latest update to my phone and I'm now unable to download any apps. I can select the app to download but when i select it the phone says 'starting download' and doesn't actually download anything.
I am having an issue where my phone connects fine to my home internet Via a new N-Router, then while using the phone and going through different apps like facebook or android market. I get errors about unable to fetch updates or unable to update page. All the while the WiFi icon is still on in the status bar. It seems that when I turn off the WiFi then back on or power the phone off then back on it work again for a short while. I don't have issues with my laptop or WiFi that use this same router.
From yesterday, i am unable to install any new apps or update old apps from the market..when i press update/install it says update un successful and the app is also removed. any idea about this problem?
I am unable to download and update free apps from the Android Market on my Xperia X10 since the last 15-20 days. Can anyone help me with this problem? I am facing a lot of issues due to non-availability of many already installed apps and also I am unable to download and use new apps.
I am a new member and a relatively new owner of an X10i. Overall I am happy with the phone but I am hoping some can answer a question. When I press the home button (middle one) I get a prompt to select to 'Complete Action using Home or Timescape' This is quite annoying. I want the default action to be Home (not Timescape) but despite ticking the box in the prompt it still pops up this box.
i am not able enter flash mode in my X10i device i wanted to flash kernel.
I followed all the procedure: 1) by holding back button & plugged in USB cable. 2) my phone got recognized in the flash tool. Got a message stating "Device connected in flash mode" 3) then my device did not stay much longer in flash mode (less then 10 sec). After that it automatically booted to phone charging screen.
below is log generated in flash tool, when i tried to flash the kernel:
26/026/2013 07:26:07 - INFO - Selected kCernel-CM9-v03.ftf 26/026/2013 07:26:07 - INFO - Preparing files for flashing 26/026/2013 07:26:07 - INFO - Please connect your device into flashmode.
I have an X10i locked. I in error entered a wrong code 5 times and now i have ran out of attempts to unlock the phone or enter any unlock code, Now i have the right code confirmed by 3UK but have no attempts to enter an unlock code.
