Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: PDANet Tethering For Wifi
Having given it much thought I decided against rooting until the updates are out and XDA have sorted out a new 2.1 root for us which meant Barnacle was out for me at present so I have just installed PdaNet on my phone and netbook.
OMG I'm so over excited by it. I am typing this on my netbook using my phone. Yeah so I need to get a life, but I am in de-mob happy mode and the thought that I may be able to use my phone for wifi whilst away has really pleased me. It couldn't have been more simple. Download on my netbook, (had already downloaded it from market on my phone) and follow the on screen instructions.
Anyway it seems to be working pretty well, so just wondered if anyone had had any negative effect using it other than it maybe using up battery power and eating into my 3 gig of data for the month?

Just like the old PdaNet, it is as simple as clicking on the PdaNet tray icon and your computer will go online instantly. Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Is WiFi Possible Without SIM?
Just recieved my X10 (hooray!) and, because Vodafone have clearly not ported anybody over to their network before (or so it seems by the level of incompetence!), I didn't received a temp. number and my SIM is not active. So, does anyone know if you can access the internet via WiFi through via your home wireless without the SIM? I know you can do this on the, ahem, iPhone...

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Won't Reconnect
I have set up the phone to connect to my home wifi connection and it does this just fine. Once connected I can do everything I wan't. Upload, download, browse and so on.But after a while, once the phone has been asleep, the wifi connection is dropped and the phone drops back onto the cellular data connection. The problem is that once it has done this, the only way to reconnect to the wifi is to switch off wifi and switch it back on again at which point it works fine again until next time it goes to sleep.I have checked the wifi sleep settings etc and this does not help so any clues? How can I persuade this phone to connect to wifi when it's available. Likewise, my other phone (a HTC Desire) will always connect to the wifi if it is in range so I am happy that this is a phone specific issue.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Keeps Turning Off
My X10i keeps dropping its WiFi conection. It is in an "excellent" signal strength area. I can now see that is related to my poor mobile network coverage at home. When the mobile network signal drops, then the WiFi turns off and the turns on again, scans and reconnects. When the mobile network connects again (after a minute or two) the WiFi turns off, then on again, scans and reconnects. This cycling is happening every minute or two. Which leads to lots of frustrating network errors. Things improve if I turn off 3G and set network to GSM only.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Trouble Connecting To Wifi
I recently got an x10. I want to connect to this wireless network but it requires both username and password log in information. I can't seem to find a way to adjust my wireless settings so that it will allow me to enter the information. It only lets me enter password information. I know it requires both because I have connected to it on my computer. I know that there are other networks available, but there is reason that I want to use this one.

Sony Ericsson Xperia /pro :: Make X10 Mini Use Wifi Instead Of 3G?
I have been doing a lot of browsing of sites such as youtube on my phone. I thought this was all happening via the wifi connection to my home network, however I have discovered it has been doing it from 3G as well, since it has eaten up a lot of money on my phone. The question is how do I enable Internet browsing on wifi as default (when wifi connections are present) rather than through 3G? This is really important since it seems to have cost me a fortune, when I could have been browsing for free at home. I have the X10mini pro and am running Android 2.1

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Having WIFI On Makes Battery Last Longer
This may sound strange but a few days ago I decided to have my WIFI 'Always On', and since then my battery seems to last alot longer.I have tried switching it off for a day to see if it was just coincidence, but with WIFI turned off, my battery died alot quicker. I thought it could be that when connecting through 3G it has to connect through the mass which could be miles away, but through WIFI it only has to connect to my router which is within 5 metres at all times. Maybe I am wrong but nonetheless its great being able to have my WIFI switched on at all times without loosing battery power quicker Is this the case with anyone else?Maybe some people could try this for a day to see if it improves your battery, and if it does so for you as it does for me, then there is another option to improve your battery life

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Function - Roger Wireless
I had mine X10i over 4 months now, no matter how I updated the version or reset the device back to factory default, the WiFi still did not work properly unless I re-start the device. The WiFi only can be turn on is when the device just turned on. If the WiFi connection got disconnected or was being turned off, then it can NEVER be connect it back or NEVER can be turn back on. This is killing me that I have to at least re-start my phone twice a day. Another thing is that if I don't turn on my WiFi at the time the device was turned on, then I never could be able to turn on the WiFi again. What is the issue with this function?

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Rooted - Try Barnacle Wifi Tether?
As the title, I downloaded barnacle about 2 weeks ago and could not get it working on my phone then visited the makers site on my laptop. Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem. Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Unable To Start Wifi/Bluetooth
I'm getting this problem where I can connect to WiFi the first time with no problem but once I disconnect and the phone sleeps, it can't connect to the network again and says "Unable to Start WiFi", I can't even get to Wireless settings because it can't start the WiFi. It's the same story with Bluetooth. It'll work once. If I turn the phone off and then on again, it will work once more but only ONCE before doing the same thing again.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: R2BA026 Update Has Broken The WiFi
I am an Admin from www.se-nse.net and would like to draw your attention to an article I have recently posted. Whichever team of jokers that are responsible for the radio implementation on the X10 should lose their jobs. Firstly came the catastrophic battery drain and a ridiculous WiFi bug but thankfully both were fixed in the recent R2BA020 update. Having momentarily restored my faith along came R2BA026 bringing back the bug which makes my WiFi utterly useless!

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Unable To Connect To WiFi Router With WEP Encryption
I'm new to the forum and to Android. Last week I replaced my Palm Centro with the new AT&T Xperria X10. About a week before the new cell phone arrived, I replaced our old Netgear wireless router with a new Cisco-Linksys E2000 router. All was well, except my daughter's PC (XP Home) and my other daughter's laptop (Vista), could not connect to the router. Got the new X10, and it connected without any problem. Then - trying to get the other two computers to connect, I changed the 801.b security from WAP2 Personal to WEP Shared (One of them has an old Linksys wireless adapter that won't allow anything but WEP). Then my daughters were both able to connect, but not the Xperia. I have tried everything I can think of - no success. I changed the router security mode to disabled, and I could not connect. I changed the Xperia to Static IP - no connection. I entered the password in both ASCII text and HEX, neither succeeded.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini/pro :: Android Market Can't Use Wifi Connection
When I'm at home, I keep my 3G data services turned off. I have a wifi connection and the 3G connection isn't very good inside my house anyway. For some reason, every time I open Android Market, it tells me I have to turn on data services, even if I'm connected already to wifi, and then it keeps interrupting because of the poor 3G connection. Is there any way to force this application to use wifi? I have no problem with other applications.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Connected To WiFi But Streaming Through Mobile Internet
This month orange gave me a bill for 30 pounds extra as I used 1.5 gigs on my x10 after talking to orange on the phone for a long time, They were very help full, unlike Sony Ericsson, it turns out that while at home when my phone says its connected to WiFi, and is usually as I have tested by turning of data 3G and things on the hand set. It is still using 3G and streaming through the mobile internet. Orange tell me its a problem with the handset and they have had a few people with the same problem. Orange kindly didn't charge me for my data use and told me to ring Sony who were very unhelpful and just claimed it isn't the hand set. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if any thing can be done. I now try to always have the 3G off but not sure if that is going to help.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: WiFi Connectivity Setup / Phone Cannot Find Network
I bought my Xperia x10 mini yesterday, and one of the first things I did was to set it up for WiFi in my house (which I already have 2 laptops and a stationary PC connected to). Setting it up was easy and quick, but my phone doesn't find the network, not even if I am standing right beside the router. I have tried to restart the WiFi connection, restart my phone, delete and re-add the home connection, but the phone still doesn't connect to the network. The network's SSID isn't broadcasted for security reasons, could this be the problem? When I search for networks, it doesn't find any 'unnamed' networks like the windows pcs do. (which is normally the one I need to connect to.) Is there something wrong with my hardware? Or my software (my phone is completely up-to-date)? (Except broadcast the SSID, which is not an option..)
