Samsung Moment :: Speakerphone - Quite Muffled And/or Breaking Up
Aug 22, 2010
When using the built in speaker phone on my Samsung Moment, the person on the other end of the call complains that I am quite, muffled, and/or breaking up; I can hear them fine, and it doesn't matter how close or far the mic is from my mouth.
People keep asking me to repeat myself on speakerphone, they tell me I sound muffled or low as opposed to other phones I have used. Is anyone else having problems with this? It's very annoying being that I use my speakerphone daily.
I searched all through the board and couldn't find anything on this problem: When I'm talking to my wife on my Samsung Moment, she often complains she can't hear me. She says, "speak into the microphone!" Even if I speak directly into the hole in the bottom of my Moment, she still says my voice is muffled and she can't hear. When I switch to my bluetooth earpiece she hears me perfectly. I use my bluetooth all day long (this is my work phone), but then after hours, I prefer to ditch the ear-itating earpiece.
Three questions: Is my Moment's mic busted? Is my wife hard-of-hearing? Must I permanently insert my earpiece, babel-fish style?
I am looking at android phones for me and my family. Kids like the Moment. Was wondering how the call quality and speakerphone is? DH will use it for lots of meetings, sometimes on the road, so this is very important.
Are we better off with a different android phone for him for call quality? Anyone know if call quality is any better on Hero?
This is a really weird deal. A friend of mine got an Epic about the same time I did, and we talked a lot, with both of us using speakerphone, and it sounded great. But at some point it started messing up, when both of us were on speakerphone. We get this really loud chirping sound, that goes away, if one of us turns speaker phone off. My friend also has this problem when talking to his wife, who also has an Epic. I don't experience any problems using speakerphone during any other calls, nor does he, unless they are Epic to Epic with both parties using speaker phone. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd behavior with their Epic? And if you haven't please try to test this out, with anyone else that has an Epic. At this point tech support doesn't have any other feedback, so I'm alone in the woods on this one.
does anyone know how to fix the speakerphone for bh2 with the galaxy rom? i flashed mine 6 times already tried to update 1 over and over and over still not working right it turns on sometimes with very very low volume... and sometimes it won't just turn on at all.... i have been asking people in behold2 chat but they are saying it's a known issue but i just wanna get this thing fixed and get over with because i use my speakerphone a lot but just to let you guys know who doesn't have this rom... GET IT! it's a must!
Anyone has experienced this problem on the Vibrant? The call keeps breaking up and I have this issue both calling and receiving. Not using the earphones but when I am holding and talking,, the call seems to break up and I've had people complain on the other side as well.
Not sure why this is happening. I had a Ultra Silke case put on it. Is that blocking anything? Or is this an inherent problem others have experienced?
I have had my Moto Droid for around three weeks and everybody I talk to says it sounds like my voice is muffled or in a hole. Even if I hold the speaker directly in front of my mouth it sounds the same way. Is this the way you sound on a droid or is there something I can do to clear it up.
I am facing a weird behavior these days with my new HTC legend. My ringer volume gets muffled automatically after 5 or 10 sec on getting a call. I have already disabled "quiet ring on pick up" feature. Then also this problem is coming up. I have googled this n come to know that i am not the only one. Some folks have found a workaround that if they choose "WCDMA only" network in network settings then this problem is not there. But I don't have 3G connectivity in my area. What should I do? I have note down the logs just after this problem. It shows some errors:-
W/CallNotifier(144) CallerInfo query took too long, manually starting ringer CallerInfo query took too long, falling back to default ringtone E/jBtlAgHandler(144) "JBtlAG context is disabled" E/BT HS/HF(144) mjBtlAgHandler.sendRing() failed
Got my EVO today around 1:00. Yay! I have been playing around with it and so far everything is great, and I like it much better than my Moment, with one exception: The phone.
Every call I have made sounds terrible -- muffled, tinny, harsh and buzzy. I swear my ear actually rang after getting off a 5 minute phone call. I enabled the hearing aid option so I could turn the volume down a bit and it helps somewhat, but not a lot. Even Bluetooth doesn't sound as good as it did on the Moment.
I have read other threads on this but there didn't seem to be a consensus. Is it a bum earpiece or a software/hardware issue? I just got this and it is my 3rd phone in a month (2 moments due to overheating now this one). I order them from Sprint online so it's getting expensive as well, since they only credit you AFTER they receive the phone you are exchanging for, which you mail back. I am also getting tired of setting up new phones. :lol
Don't get me wrong, I have every intention of keeping the EVO. But I am wondering if this is just how it is or if it is a defect that warrants the phone being replaced? If it is how it is, I will live with it. My cell phone is not my primary phone and I don't actually spend that much time on phone calls, so the rest of the EVO features outweigh the bad sound. But it IS a cell phone after all, so should it sound this bad?
Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. Maybe we can work out a swap. Now for the additional 1 to 2 feet of snow that is forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow, on top of the 2.5 feet still on the ground.
I just bought my Motorola Droid on Tuesday. Took it back on Thursday. People said I sounded muted, muffled, or in a tunnel. They gave me a brand new Droid and it is doing the same thing. When I am using my bluetooth, my fiancé can hear me perfectly. I love the Droid and this seems to be the only issue.
I have really enjoyed everything about the Droid in the 5 days I've had it, except call quality. I switched from an iPhone 3G and the droid can do everything my iPhone could and more, and then I placed a phone call.
My phone was updated to 2.0.1 right at the Verizon store. I left, made a call, and am now regretting leaving my iPhone. I get horrible choppiness, static, and muffled voice on my end. On the other end everyone I call can hear me great. I have tried the *228 options 1 and 2, changing to evrc-b(or whatever it was called) and 13k, privacy off, basically every setting i could find.
Went to the Verizon store, the saleswoman said it was normal and that all phones do that. I laughed, said I was gonna quit this "awesome network" and go back to "crap" AT&T, then they exchanged the phone no problem. Of course this fixed nothing and here I am making phone calls and repeating, "what did you say?" until I can make out some words.
Don't get me wrong, I like Verizon and I've had them before and I never had any issues with call quality, which brings me to believe it's strictly the phone. I may have gotten the occasional dropped call on the iPhone(once a week at most) but at least my calls were all clear.
i have a android application which is ready to release .so to release i have put the app in android market .the user can buy the app and can install the app into the phone.android market wont provide any apk file to the user .so normally we need not bother about re distribution of of the app to the unauthorized persons(who didn't buy the app). But what my problem is ,I heard that there is a jail breaking concept which can allow the hacker to get the apk file(installation file) from the device .(even though android market not giving the apk file to the user ).then he can distribute the apk file to all(to unauthorized persons ).how to avoid it.is there any thing to restrict the unauthorized person in using our app, even though he get the apk file . does android market provides the details of the users who has buy the app by paying?
Has anyone else noticed the person on the other end saying they are breaking up when using bluetooth in a car? My wife says all the time when I call her from the car I sound like I am breaking up and she has a hard time hearing me. Never had any issue with the old EnV, is this common for the Droid?
Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.
I currently own a Palm Pre and I'm ready to ditch it for an Android device. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.
It looks like Chevy's kernal is breaking the root access for Titanium. Anyone else having the same issue? When I first installed BB .7, Titanium worked fine. Then I installed Chevy's kernal and now it doesn't have root access. Looks like a couple other people are having the same issue on AllDroid. I'm using BB .7 with Chevy's 1ghz kernal.
I am generating an email in my app in which I include a long URL. The entire URL appears in the email but the clickable link portion of it consists of only the first 90 characters. Why does this happen and how can I prevent it?
I've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Gizmodo has a Black Friday list and just added the Moment at a big discount. About the 12th deal listed under Cell phones. It's supposedly offered from Wirefly. Come on and join us the more the merrier. I got mine from BB @ $99.

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?
