Thought some people may be interested in how to get JAR/JAD files running on their Samsung Moment (this should work for most Android devices, but I've been running on my Moment). I also don't think that all JAR/JAD programs convert; but so far most mine have...
1. With your JAD & JAR files, go to: Get APK and convert to an APK file
2. Save your APK file onto your SD card
3. Download AppManager (one word) or comparable program that allows you to install from your SD card
4. Install Java J2ME Runner App
5. Using AppManager, install the created apk file from your SD card
Your file should be found both in your main folder; as well as in the J2ME's "App Manager". You may need to play with the configuration to get the program to fit alright. I have Auto detect Game Canvas clicked; but have had to change it for a few games. It's not perfect, but it seems to work alright with some of my old java games.
I have a non-rooted Moment that I am trying to install eStrongs File Explorer & aDosBox on using adb install. Not working. Am I just fubar? The phone currently isn't on a plan so at best I can use WiFi at home (none that I can find at work that aren't secured). If I can just get eStrongs File Explorer installed then I can use that to install aDosBox.
I read my manual regarding deleting files from the sd card. I am not sure if i understand it though. Can i safely delete files through my pc's file manager (while tethered) rather than through the phone it self, files such as pictures and music? And what about the folders left behind from downloaded apps? Can i simply delete those while tethered?
I dragged and dropped a bunch of music files from my Mac onto my Moment's SD card. In the Android music player, many of the albums (classical, mostly), were all jumbled together in an "Unknown artist" file. The instruction book for the phone says I should not use my computer to create new folders, or rename folders, on the SD. HOw, then do I delete and rearrange music files? I don't see a prompt for creating folders in the app on the phone.
I searched and only found a threat for BeamReader, which I downloaded, but I keep running into the same "issue". I have yahoo and there is a pdf file attached to one of my emails. Whenever I try to open it from yahoo it tells me download unsuccessful.I have tried several pdf readers (the latest one being BeamReader), but they all have one thing in common for some reason, whenever I open the application I get a list of folders that are actually my music folders. What am I doing wrong and how do I open my pdf files to read on my Samsung Moment?
What is the best (easiest) way to install an .apk file on the Epic? I took Gary's offer for a free "paid version" of the xScope browser to all Android Forum users but have never tried to install an apk file before.
BTW...Anyone wanting a copy just email Gary at email@example.com
I downloaded forcystos Recovery 3.1.1 and Meatcurtains v2 from the kitchen. Since I installed it, I noticed a huge loss in battery life. I was getting 24+ hrs on a single charge even with live wallpapers running...Back down to about 6...
Is that normal?
How do I go back to the way the phone was right before I installed these 2 items?
I was originally on DE03. joeykrim-SDX-recovery2.1.3 joeykrim-SDX-a2.1-root-v7
Do I just reboot in recovery and reapply that zip?
I was kind of expecting an improvement, but the phone burned more battery and got a little lag since the update.
I have spare parts in there there is an option to install some HTC option (camera and a game) I would like to try them and they didn't seem to install. While looking to take something off my sd card with root explorer I found them on the SD card as a "tgz" file. What is this and from here how do I install them onto the phone?
I have a Samsung Moment, it's running the Radioactive Froyo rom(so it's rooted)...but I cant seem to download Launcherpro. I have tried to download it straight from the market...NO DICE! I went to the launcherpro website downloaded it straight to SD and used OI Installer AND Appinstaller to install...NO DICE! All I keep getting is an error message that says "install unsuccessful". Launcherpro's FAQ says that if this happens then you have an android OS that is not compatible, but says nothing on how to fix or what to do about it.
Searched high and low for help in other threads, but most of them focused on once the app was already downloaded (including the launcherpro website), I cant even get this one installed, I'm really stumped...and I dont want to be "that guy" who didnt do a search in order to find an answer to a simple problem, but honestly, I've been trying for two days to fix this.
I connect the usb to charge, but I cant drag and drop files like I did with my Instinct through Windows. Currently, I have to take the mini sd card out of the phone and put that into my computer to connect that way to add music, etc. Anyone know anything about how to drag and drop directly when connected with the usb?
I thought i was messaging myself some videos of my 3 year old, but apparently they did not attach to the messages i was emailing myself... I deleted them... Does anyone know of a way to recover deleted video files?
I've had this phone for about 3 days and really like it.Today however I'm trying to customize my screen more, and find I can't add certain shortcuts or widgets.Basically any shortcut or widget that requires an extra step (like selecting which contact to put on) doesn't show up on the screen after the selection.
I already rooted my phone and I already downloaded a few live wallpapers from the market.. but I want to install some others from my computer to the phone. I put some wallpaper files in a zip. and put the zip. on my phone. I then went into recovery mode and tried to extract them from the zip. but it didnt work.. How do I put live wallpapers on my Moment? It is already rooted, and it already has the capability.

i am having a issue here.i am using samsung i7500 .Since my gprs provider charge me more for online downloads.. i cannot go further for downloading andriod apps. can i download andriod apps online thru pc and install it to my phone.?
1) I am using Eclipse IDE and Android SDK 2.1 for my application. My application reads some data files from the File System, so using DDMS i push all the files in "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder and run my application on emulator. I am able to see my desired output properly on the emulator.
2) Now i have Android device and i don't know how to push the files in the Internal memory of the phone. I have installed driver CD. But it only shows me the SD card directory.
3) Actually what i want is that the moment my application is installed and run it should read the data files from the file system. So there should be no added efforts to push the files in the file system.
4)Means can i pack my data files with my .apk file and when the apk is getting installed can the data files be placed directly in the internal memory(file system) i.e. "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder. Is this possible ?
I'm having trouble with the drivers, just like many others. Now, when trying to uninstall so I can reinstall, I get: Unknown install error. Contact to distributors. Then when I click OK, I get: Fatal error during install.
Morning. So I finally was able to figure out upgrading to 2.1 required me to plug directly into my PC's motherboard instead of a USB HUB (My G15 Keyboard) And I was watching a few videos and saw a program called linpack. Now I wanted to get 2.1 because my moment felt incredibly sluggish. After the upgrade it does feel faster but I ran linpack to see what I got. It came back at 2.578 MFLOPS and took 35.52 seconds. In the videos it took like 1/4 of a second to finish, I am waiting over half a minute! What is going on here. Bad install of linpack or is my phone running with the snails.
Some time ago...I estimate a week at most, I received an error when simply saving a file from my Browser, stating there was not enough space to do so. Knowing my phone had mre than adequate space, I presumed it was just an error with my browser.
Trying again with a different internet browser, I was met again with the same dilema. To make matters worse, I cannot permanently delete picture files from the default viewer on my phone. Queerily, I can delete them, only to have the pictures return hours later. To make my situation more unusual; Upon viewing the SD card mounted on my laptop, I can move, add & delete any form of files with ease. Even saving/deleting other files using different apps (Videobox, for example) gives me no hassle whatsoever.
One solution I'm willing, but at the same time reluctant to try is to reset my phone entirely to it's factory default setting (prior to backing up all of my SD card's data, of course)
I thought the Moment's video player could play MPEG-4(mp4) videos, but when I browse to a website that has an mpeg-4 video, I get the error message saying the video is not supported. Here's a link to a video that doesn't play on my Moment, but will play inside Quicktime on my PC. Is there a VLC like player for android to play mp4, wmp and other assorted video files?
