Samsung Galaxy S : Recovery Boot Error - Can Not Access To /system/csc/VOD/system
Phone: UK Galaxy S Issue: Recovery boot error message in red writing
Multicsc : can not access to / system/csc/VOD/system/
Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.

Android :: Samsung Galaxy Isn't Working After Update Whole System Error
A few minutes ago I have updated my Samsung Galaxy with the "New PC Studio" for Germany (not Android 1.6!!!). After that, my mobile restarted and now the whole system isn´t working. There always appers an error message that process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Normaly( when I bought this phone ) I was able to tap to Wait, but now there is no way to do it. Now I can only tap to close but then it cuttes all my conections. This wouldn´t be the problem if it appeared only one time, but THE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS EVERY 5 SECONDS.

I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

Android :: Install Files In File System - Samsung Galaxy 5
1) I am using Eclipse IDE and Android SDK 2.1 for my application. My application reads some data files from the File System, so using DDMS i push all the files in "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder and run my application on emulator. I am able to see my desired output properly on the emulator. 2) Now i have Android device and i don't know how to push the files in the Internal memory of the phone. I have installed driver CD. But it only shows me the SD card directory. 3) Actually what i want is that the moment my application is installed and run it should read the data files from the file system. So there should be no added efforts to push the files in the file system. 4)Means can i pack my data files with my .apk file and when the apk is getting installed can the data files be placed directly in the internal memory(file system) i.e. "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder. Is this possible ?

Android :: Loading Native Libraries - System Load - Dlopen - Nexus One After FRG83 System Update
I am an Android app developer, and I have purchased a Nexus One device which I use to continuously test my developed Android applications. Background: ----------------- One of the applications I developed uses a native shared library (e.g. myNativeLib.so). Only my application loads & uses this native library. I had developed this app before Android NDK came out. I pack my native library into my apk's 'assets' folder, and during my application start- up, I extract this native library from my package's assets folder to my app private directory (i.e. <assets> -> /data/data/<myappprocess>/ myNativeLib.so). Then I use System.load() API in my application to dynamically load this native library. Problem: ------------ This application was developed during Android 1.5 (i.e. cupcake) days {I didn't have the Nexus One then}. The above procedure has been working without any problems right from Android 1.5 to Android 2.2 (i.e. Froyo). I have also tested the same on my Nexus One for Android 2.1 (i.e. Eclair) and Android 2.2. The problem began the moment I recently upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.2.1 via the FRG83 system update. Now, whenever I try to load my native library, I get the following error: D/dalvikvm( 3653): Trying to load lib /data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so <some address> I/dalvikvm( 3653): Unable to dlopen(/data/data/<myappprocess>/ <mynativelib>.so): Cannot load library: link_image[1995]: failed to link <mynativelib>.so What I have Tried: -------------------------- 1. I tried my application using Android 2.2 SDK (emulator)...it works, no issues. 2. I checked out the latest froyo & android2.2.1 source code from Android open-source, built & tested my application + native lib using the latest froyo source...it built & ran, no issues. This should've taken care of any changes in the native code dependencies between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 3. I even checked Android 2.2.1 source code for dalvik (java System & Runtime classes) + bionic (linker & dlopen sources) between Android 2.2 & Android 2.2.1 (using source checked out from Android open-source), but couldn't find anything consequential 4. I am unable to return my Nexus One to Android 2.2.

Samsung Fascinate :: Access Fascinate's System Files - Folders
I have a rooted Fascinate. Using ES file explorer I was able to view system folders and found the system media files containing ringtones, notification tone, etc. However, I can not edit the files there or paste new files in there. I cannot find the system folder when I connect the fascinate to a computer. I tried showing "hidden files" but the folders still would not show up. What I want to do is add my downloaded ringtones into the system media folder so that I can use those ringtones without having those ringtones appear in my music player. Another post tried to deal with this issue of the music player recognizing ringtones and notification tones, but no one could provide an actual solution to the problem. If I could move ringtones from the media folder on the SD to card to the media folder in the system folder, this would solve the problem. Can anybody access the system folders in a manner that I can add files to the folders. EDITED: PROBLEM SOLVED. With the help given below, I came up with a solution, and have pasted instructions directly below. Here are the steps I did in case any one else is interested. Once your phone is rooted, it's pretty simple. 1)Download Root Explorer from the Market. Root explorer will give you the ability to edit folders/files that normally can't be edited, ie read and write permission as opposed to read only. 2)Using Root Explorer (make sure in top left of program it says "mounted as r/w"), copy any ringtone, notification file, .ogg file, .mp3 file, etc that you have made or downloaded, by selecting sdcard folder and navigating to the location of your tones, long pressing the file of interest, and select copy. (You can even long press on the folder and copy the whole folder of tones). 3)Still using Root Explorer, back out of the SD folder, and find the folder called "system". Navigate to system/media/audio/"ringtones" or "notifications" . Click the paste button at the bottom of the screen (which should have appeared as soon as you copied your file/folder). The file/folder will now be in your system's tone folder. 4)You must power down and power back up your phone before the phone will recognize these newly added tones. 5)Either delete the tone files from your SD card, or put a .nomedia file into the folder to remove them from the SF's media player.

HTC EVO 4G : How Can I Access SD Card / File System?
Ok just got my EVO yesterday. This is not only my first android phone, but my first smart phone as well. I'm fairly savvy when it comes to computers and techy stuff, but I do have what sounds like a ridiculous question. I bluetoothed some files (songs and pictures) from my old phone to my EVO. It acknowledged getting them and indeed I was able to play them from the notification area after receiving them. However, now I cannot find anyplace to 'browse' the phone folders or the SD card folders so I can find and utilize these files. How do you access the SD card or the file system?

Motorola Droid : How Do You Deny Specific System Access
I installed the Nimbuzz app today. It has system access to prevent the phone from sleeping. Which really sucks because I can't leave it running in the background so I stay logged on. If I keep the Nimbuzz services running then The display won't time out on inactivity. If you close the services then You can't get the incoming chats. Is there away to deny certain access to apps but allow the rest and install it? From my experience I've only seen that it's all or nothing.

For example, if I am at home connected via WiFi is my DINC using WiFi or 3G to connect to the internet? Also, when my DINC synchs up my accts (Facebook, Weatherbug, Native Weather App, Gmail and Mail) is it using 3G or WiFI? Can I set a preferred connection somewhere? I've looked, but can't seem to find something like that.

Nexus : Unable To Boot Main Image Or Access Recovery
I have a Nexus one and I have made a bit of a mess of it when loading a custom rom. Previously I'd rooted (without unlocking) the stock (2.2) rom before loading Cyanogen 6, later Cyanogen nightlies and finally eViL-NXSense-v1213. I was rather enjoying the last one but had severe stability issues which I think was due to using Titanium Backup and restoring data. I was in the process of re-imaging to eViL-NXSense-v1213 after clearing the SD card, data and various caches when something seemed to happen to the recovery image. I can get into the boot loader but if I select Recovery it shows the Nexus One logo indefinitely and doesn't respond to the power button being pressed, the same happens if I turn it on from cold. Is it possible that the recovery image has somehow been corrupted? If so what can I do to restore a recovery image that will enable me to install a custom rom. I would prefer not to unlock the boot loader but will do it if necessary.

Motorola Droid : Error With System Update Two Days Ago
I guess I'm one of the few that had glitches w/ the update. First the galery link on the front page didn't update and I kept getting "this application is not installed" error. I couldn't drag it over to the red waste basket...it kept changing back to gray and the faulty icon stayed on the main desktop. That evening while on hold to Verizon I "force fed" it by holding it over the waste basket longer, then added the new gallery app from the slider screen. Also noted that the gold button on the r side no longer worked for the camera, it brings up a quick messaging screen instead. They determined the ONLY way to fix this is to reset the phone back to factory issue. Is there another way around this? Or if I have to, what's the best way to back up everything and keep track of the installed apps? I really don't want to reset the phone.

HTC Droid Eris :: System Error Message And Force Close Option
Anyone else having issues with the phone and a system error message with something about com.htc.provider and it only gives you the option of a "force close" button. Sometimes that is all that happens and once you hit the force close the message goes away, at least for a while. Other times when this happens it deletes all of your text strings. I have 2 lines and 2 droids, both were having the same issue, did the factory resets, went to the store with both and finally gave in and took 2 refurbished phones to try and fix issue, both refurbished phones started doing the same thing immediately. I am in process of arguing with verizon about not wanting another eris to replace these.

Are there any other easier ways to access local area network (without creating a DNS server).

Android :: File System Access Triggers - Listener On Android Devices
I'm looking for some ways to intercept File System Access operations like Read and Write a file. So that i can catch these "events" from an Android App. (background service for ex.). I don't have found any possible "events" and "listener" that i can use to listen to file system access on the device. So, i'm thinking about developping a native application (with the Android NDK) which will intercept these file system "events" and send them to a background service.

Android :: Android - IPhone To Have Full Access Of Enterprise Information System
We continue to build our fairly small applications on Android, iPhone and other mobile operating systems. This is fine and fun in the beginning of a new era, but when mobile OS matures, gets to be the preferred device for business people in motion, they want something more. One would guess they want the same access and capability to ERP, MRP, BI-solutions and other reporting systems in there phone, right here, right now. How would we as developers deliver these demands, in a secure yet useful way? Is there today support for this kind of applications given they are not today on the web? I understand the fact most EIS-solutions are web based. Still they are behind company gates, heavily garded by Cheif Information Security Officer (CISO) and his/her staff. Thus they are not accessible through the open unsecure internet but insede companies intranet or internal network. To my knowledge, accessing an EIS using an adress like https://www.thecompany.com/eis-solution/ signing in with username/password isn't done today. In the old days, a VPN-solution was one way to access inside EIS-solutions, but will this be done using a mobile device as well?

Samsung EPIC 4G :: Perfect GPS Accuracy System
Im wondering now if the GPS problem is really a problem with the way the individual phone is "tuned" at the factory, Its not the software thats for sure. I'm sure I have the same software as everyone else and my other 4 handsets had. I noticed that all 4 prior phones had a varying degree of GPS accuracy. This one #5 is spot on and quick to "fix" in my locations. I have a large home and tested the handset in my house last night and watched it track me through the rooms with spot on accuracy without fail. So I say why is this phone different? It has to be the way its tuned at the factory, if you notice when you take the battery door off there are a bunch of little holes around the battery compartment these are manual tuning pots for various phone functions and I'm guessing one is for the GPS. If my handset is accurate there is no other reason besides bad final tuning of the GPS system causing another handset to be inaccurate. Now if my bottom 4 keys were only as sensitive as my GPS I would be totally happy with my Epic.

Samsung Captivate :: Something To Turn Up My System Volume?
I always keep my system volume turned all the way down. I don't know why anyone would want their phone to make obnoxious sounds when turning off. When do most people turn their phones off? Church, movies, meetings, basically anytime you want it to be QUIET. Anyway, I digress. Something keeps turning up my system volume. Often when my phone shuts down due to low battery I hear the stupid shutdown sound. I think it may also have happened a few times when powering the phone off manually. I am rooted and I know I could rename the files, but I am getting tired of working around the bugs on this thing and having to keep track of all the files I rename. I try to keep it as "stock" as possible. Any ideas on what might be turning my system volume up?
