Samsung Galaxy S :: Soft Key LEDs As Notification Light
Sep 24, 2010
What's the status on this issue? Many of the Samsung Galaxy S phones come with a beautiful array of soft keys with LEDs that are dieing to be used as notification lights as well. For example, the T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant has 4 soft keys (menu, home, back, search). I would like to be able to set the menu key to light up at an interval of 3 seconds within the first hour of receiving a text message and light up at an interval of 5 seconds or more after the first hour of receiving a text message. Has Samsung released the necessary API? Or does Google have control over this?
Is there a setting in LP or any apps that would allow me to toggle off and on the soft keys when a new notification comes in? Anytime I get an email or text the soft keys stay lit until I check the message.
I've seen it discussed in a thread somewhere but can't find it. Is anyone working on an app to use the menu buttons as an LED notification? The moment for me would be close to perfect if there was some way to have lights for notification. If I were a programmer I would be working my buns off to write this app.
These packages are alternative gapps. These Gapps should improve performance. On top of that all apps are up to date (like YouTube). Ultra Light version will also remove unnecessary preinstalled apps like yaam, DSP Audio Manager and so on (and some more gapps of course).
For some reason after the media hub update my notification light doesn't blink anymore, it just stays solid red? Has anyone had this issue, or have any ideas on what to do? I'm thinking about exchanging it...
I am on my third epic and still having the same problem. My notification light worked fine when the phone was first activated and slowly stopped working altogether. I also bought my girlfriend one and the same thing happened to hers. That's four phones in three weeks. I can't be the only one that is having this issue. Anyone else? My setting for the light to pulse is checked. I have also done a factory reset.
I just downloaded the media hub update today and noticed that now when i get a text message my notification light stays solid instead of blinking...This is annoying because it could cause the battery to drain and it just looks weird...Is there any setting i can mess with, or has anyone else had this problem? I also notice that when i text i don't hear the typing anymore. It's just silent until i click send...Kind of weird...I'm thinking about uninstalling and re-installing handcent..
I plan to get an HTC Desire soon and have one last question on mind. The best phone I've used so far is the iPhone. If anyone's used/compared the iPhone and Desire with a hands-on experience, could you please let me know how well the touch sensitivity/responsiveness of the HTC Desire compares with the iPhones? i.e. does it respond as well to soft/light touches as the iPhone does? Also, how well would you place the touch sensitivity (good, better, best, equal) for Apple iPhone, HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy i9000, if you've personally experienced all 3, or any 2 of them.I haven't been able to get my hands on one unfortunately. This seemed to be the only way left to find out.
I'm guessing this is because the light detector determines I have plenty of light and thus decides that I don't need them to glow. But really, it's just annoying, as in direct light, i can't see the keys whatsover thanks to glare. Thus, my questions: 1. is it normal for the soft key lights to turn off? and 2. is there any way to override this and have them on at all times?
I'm on my 3rd Eris - replaced each one for the silent bug. This one hasn't gone silent yet, but the soft keys (home, menu, back, and search) don't light up. Major PITA when using the phone at night. When I took it back to Verizon, they said the buttons aren't supposed to light up. Now I'm second guessing myself. So, can someone with an Eris check it out on your phone and see if the buttons light up? Is there a setting for this that I'm missing? BTW - This last replacement shipped with 2.1 installed and hboot 1.49.
I'm considering getting the Galaxy S, but the only drawback I can see right now if the absence of a flash for the camera. I know flashes on camera phones aren't all that great, but they do help in many situations. I read in a couple places that this phone has a night mode negating the need for the flash. So far I have not been able to find any sample photos taken in low light conditions, say a portrait of friends in a dark restaurant, or at a party. Can those of you who have the phone post some sample shots in these conditions?
Dose anyone have any thoughts about the build quality of this phone? I love the specs of this phone, but I am worried that it will fell to much plastic? More than the iphone 3g/s? It's nice that this phone is so light, but I personal think that that can contribute to a poor build quality. Every time I play with the HTC desire, I always is amassed how solid it feels.
I was wondering if you can get new notification sounds for the samsung galaxy s as the ones that come with the phone dont go long enough and I miss all my sms's. Ive put new ones on for my ringtone but they dont show up in the notification bar.
I am able to pull up my list of contacts, but when I click on a contact I get the message "Unfortunately, contacts have stopped working" and it send me to the home screen. I have a Samsung Galaxy Light running Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The phone worked fine for awhile, then started giving me the error messages. If I do a factory reset, the problem is fixed for a few days, but then the contacts problem persists again. I have tried all of the following:
1. Clearing the contacts cache 2. Enabling contacts storage - it already was running and there is no place to "Disable" or "enable" that I can see. 3. Factory reset - works for a few days and then the problem reoccurs 4. Change Date settings to a different format 5. Change time settings to a 24 hr format
I just got a samsung galaxy proclaim. All i want is an app that can make the 4 soft touch buttons on the bottom of the phone be light up whenever the screen is lit up. The phone is for my dad, who cant see the best, and he can never see the buttons when they are not lit. I am very tech inclined and have rooted my thunderbolt and modded the hell out of it and flashed roms all the time last year. I really can not find anything out there app wise, and there is not other option other than holding your finger over the light sensor on the front of the phone.
The phone is not rooted, but i could root it if that is necessary. would rather not as i see it presenting new possibilities for problems for a VERY beginner user just learning what texting means.
One of the nice things I had with my BB was an app that allowed you to modify the length, frequency, and color of your LED light notifications for when you had missed calls, emails, etc. That way you didn't have to bring the screen alive to know if you didn't hear the audible notification. The LED on the EVO seems to be pretty short and sometimes infrequent. I seem to keep bringing the screen alive to find I have missed emails etc. but the LED wasn't flashing at all. Has anyone found a good App that does this?
Does any one know how to set the notification light on the phone so it blinks when you have a missed call or text when the phone is charging? Cant seem to find this option, I find it weird Android doesn't have this option as default to begin with.
For those (very very few of us) who have played with the Evo, can you tell me if there is an LED notification light on front?I am referring to when you get a new text message, or a missed call, so you dont have to turn on the screen.
I made a black bar for galaxy R10, very similar to micro's for the old version. Can't change the clock color due to it being in an ODEX file. But the notification colors are white letters and the bar is black with a white spot behind the clock. Would anyone want me to upload this? Also it has the battery mod (Just like the one in NoTwiz),
