Samsung Galaxy S :: How To Show Phone Number Calling?
Jul 18, 2010
When anyone calls me it just shows 'unknown' these are not blocked numbers and the the people calling me are in the contacts list (on sim & on phone) so their name should really come up. how do i get their name or just simply a phone number to come up when they call me. what am i missing?
When connecting my Galaxy-S to the Samsung Kies software, my telephone shows up with an incorrect telephone number. I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.
Is there a way to hide my phone number when calling out? I came over from BlackBerry, where there is simply an option to "hide" my phone number on outgoing calls... but I can't seem to do this with my Eris. Someone once suggested that I prefix my contacts with *69... but that seems to prevent caller id from working properly, which just trades one issue for another.
If possible, I would prefer to be selective with who I do this with (it's okay for personal contacts to see my number... but it's not okay for business contacts to see my number).
I have a new Samsung Galaxy. When I plug it in via USB the two volumes mount device manager but they are not assigned drive letters I can use.I am using the default USB drivers from 2006 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I'm designing an android app. It pairs phone numbers to user IDs and allows you to dial a phone number via the ID by pulling the phone number from a web-server and dialing it with the native android phone application. However I want the native android phone app to show the ID instead of the phone number. Is this possible and how do i achieve it.
This is important because in my environment, the phone number of a contact varies often and the best way to handle this is changing the phone number attached to an ID.
When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name. When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message. It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
For something like a 'help I can't get up' app -- is there a way for a user to set a contact number, and then for the app to call that number in the future WITHOUT the user initiating the dialout? I've tried the below but there seems to be a problem. Code...
So ya, there's a phone in my HTC Hero. No surprise.
My problem is this: I find that the easiest way to call a person is to go to the phone app and scroll through the call history displayed to find the person I wish to call. Once I see their name, I just press on it, and the call begins. Unfortunately, a friend I call often may use their house phone or cell phone when I only ever want to call their cell (Evo ). Often, the situation is that I previously talked to him on his house phone, and I'm calling him in the middle of the night (we're young; we don't sleep rational hours during the summer... or ever). Unfortunately for me, my call usually bugs his parents, and I get reprimanded...
Is there a setting that allows me to only call his cell, or do I just need to break this habit?
Full disclosure: There are millions of us semi-old guys who need reading glasses, but have perfect sight for everything else. We need the ability to use a larger font for the calling number. Its OK if the caller is in the contact list, but if it's not I really want to read the number quickly and decide yes/no on taking the call. Grabbing the readers takes time, and can be sketchy when driving.
I have had the SGS for a few days. It must be possible to add more than one number to a contact, but I can't find it. I thought that Samsung would have a better manual on the net, but I can't find that either. Any ideas?
I'm writing an android application which listens the phone calling events. What I want to do is, if there is a call incomes or outgoes, an activity shows with my customized info.I want to this screen keeps showing during the calling period. However, if a call is coming, the system UI which shows the contact always appears on top of my activity.I've found some apps already realized this function, but mine can't.
I need to dial a number in Germany which would be +49... now since i can't make that call with my verizon plan i bought a CBS phone card. so i hit 1 for English, 2 for international etc. then when i need to enter the number, on my old phone it worked fine by holding 0 for a while to dial +49. but for some reason that doesn't work with the droid. any ideas?
I'm using Android 2.1 on the Galaxy S.I have multiple numbers defined per contact, e.g. mobile, work, home. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.
Do I really need to change all my phone numbers to have area codes in them? When people call, for example, it shows 619-423-5666 instead of "Work" which is saved as 423-5666. Do I really have to change every one of them and start saving numbers w/ zip code?
New forums user here. Had my i9000 for about 2 weeks now and still trying to work out a few very small things to make my phones exactly the way I want it. One thing that has escaped me thus far despite all my googling and digging through menus and options in the phone is a way to display the full titles of programs. Ie: I'm running Opera Mini and the icon in the applications menu and on my home screen says "Opera Min" and then the text fades off. I would like it to just say "Opera Mini." Eight characters(ish) for a filename is so Windows 3.1, I would think there would be a way to have the full name displayed.
My son rooted ny Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317). After 3D Launcher crashed it, I tried the Galaxy Toolkit offered by mskip. It seemed to work well. I set the phone back to completely stock. (in the hopes of rooting again). But now I get these messages
a) google.process.gapps has stopped
b) Contacts has stopped
c) Gallery has stopped
When I try to dial a number the phone freezes after the first number then suts down. Contacts open in a plain black screen.
