Samsung Galaxy S :: GT-i9000 At&t Service Disconnects Often
Oct 30, 2010
I recently bought an unlocked international version of samsung galaxy S GT-i9000. I was able to use it with at&t sim card quite happily till now. Even the 3g worked on it. But from yesterday the at&t service keeps disconnecting after using for few hours. The network bars at the top right disappear and a blue disconnected sign appears. I cannot make a call or receive a call till I reboot my phone. In settings->about phone I see that the "Service" shows "Not in Service". When I reboot it gets back to "In Service". My unlocked phone boots with T-mobile preset settings - is this problem because of that?
I've just got my new Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone which looks awesome. I had been using a Nokia N97 Mini which had behaved OK and I've been using Joikuspot as a WIFI tether which is important because of my need for the internet during the day. I was really please to find that the Galaxy has an inbuilt tether application in the Mobile AP however I cannot get it to work and wondered if any one else had any issues? The Mobile AP kicks in ok and I can find it on my laptop however when I try to connect it just tells me that it cannot connect and goes into trying to diagnose the problem. I tried to bypass this by inputting the wireless connection manually but when I do it tells me the security option is wrong but does this for every option in the list.
Which is better out of the 2 and why? Both have key differences and some may or may not like the depending on what differences they prefer. Main differences I can think of are these: - Galaxy s is thinner while the Epic has the Qwerty slider - Epic has a flash for the camera and Wimax connectivity - Software wise, the Epic is missing a lot of features of touch wiz. There are more differences like design of the phones, theirf networks, etc. But I don't have time to list them all right now.
As i just said before, I was updating my Galaxy S I9000 when it just got to the last notch on updating, and it failed. Now my phone when i turn it on, Goes to a screen with a phone then *!* warning sign to computer. What do i need to do here?
Samsung Vibrant family, Got some bad news, Finally got some update about Froyo update for Samsung Galaxy S(Im thinking its going to affect us Vibrant owners too since its the same phone). IT HAS BEEN DELAY TILL LATE OCTOBER. You can read more here Froyo update for Samsung I9000 Galaxy S delayed until October - GSMArena.com news This sucks but I knew something like this was going to happen.
I was trying to install the latest Froyo update on my new galaxy i9000 and ran into problems. The update was JP3. First the phone kept on flashing i.e. screen off and on. and then i had to reboot the phone and same problem. I tried to flash it again with odin but this time I got an error message:
Update Media please wait E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such file or directory) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD:"
Your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions copy default media content failed.
When I boot it moves past the Galaxy I9000m screen shows me the galaxy screen with animation and sound, the screen then goes of leaving me with a black screen and the buttons lit.
Now, no matter what I do I kept on getting this message. I have a feeling that somehow it messed up the internal sd card of my device.
Is there a way I could repartition my card (if that would solve it) and then reinstall a froyo 2.2 update.
My phone have turned it self of or turned it self into cwm for over a week now! I've tried to update the phone, changed rom, deleted everything (that's not a must to have for the phone). But it keeps on doing it!
I have a Samsung galaxy s i9000. Kernel: 3.1.10 devil2 Codename: Tiramisu EVO I.C.E A.G.E 1.9.5 Version: IMM76D Android version: 4.0.4
I've tried using an old version that I installed with Odin but without success...
I am having problem with performance of SQLite database in Android application in Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 device. The database contains 10 tables with 3 - 8 columns each.
As soon as a database file gains about 400 KB update/instert queries need much more time to execute - 2 seconds! In comparision to other devices (HTC Magic, HTC Desire) update/insert queries take about 40 msec !
The database file is located in application data directory. Moving database file to sd card increases the speed significantly.
Periodic ANALYZE and VACUUM commands do not affect the speed. As well as PRAGMA cache_size command.
Do you have any ideas how to improve the performance? for keeping the database in sd card or splitting the database into many files containing one table each.
The problem is when I install apps (apk's or from google play ) they are installed on internal memory (2GB) and this caused many problems for me . I want my apps to be installed directly by default on usb storage ( 13.20GB)
Note I dont have micro sd in my device ...
In apps ... i tried ( move to sd card ) but it didn't work i assume for not having sd card in the device ? right I tried also programs like move to SD or something it didn't work.
I want apps to be installed directly on the biggest memory ( usb storage (13.20 gb) not the small internal one (2gb).
A friend of mine rooted my samsung mobile Galaxy S I9000 with a android 2.2 version. I read information on rooting your device, in which everything is explained very well, but could not find information on how to update once a device was rooted (probably I did not search in the right place). What I did so far is:
1) Taking backup of my pics (by manually drag and drop the folder on my pc), SMS and call logs (with sms backup + app), syncronized my contacts with gmail so that I can recover them later on and backup the music folder. I installed backup Titanium to back up my apps on my SD card.
1) Which most recent version of Android is supported on the device I have? 2) Is there important information that I forgot to back up? 3) Is there a guide with step by step procedure on which files I have to download on my pc and which procedure to follow?
I have finally for Samsung Galaxy S I9000 and Kier to run together, but now there are problems with sync. Outlook 2007th My contact persons energy comes over fine but my calendar does not - with others or going this problem - and is there a solution?
I updated my galaxy s gt-i9000 to cyanogenmod 10.1,1. everything worked great.... I got a wild hair and decided to upgrade it to 10.3.0 but it went into a boot loop. I then broke out oden, and long story short I soft bricked it. I now actually got my phone to let me restore my backup that I did before I updated it, and it completed successfully. But it only boots into recovery mode. What I can do?
just changed my rom to 10.1 cm, but even that i changed my ringtone to a different one from my sdcard, and it is saving my choice - when someone calls me - it doesn't play that song.if i change it to the deafault ringtones of the device - it changes, but not with my music files.
After dialing a number the call stays only a few second and then disconects. It says out of service area. Than when i try dialing again it says mobile network not available.Cant find the stock firmware anywhere, even on sammobile firmware list.
I flashed 3 different rooms and the same problem with calls.Where can i find the stock firmware for S7562GSMH I tried PMP_Ultra_ROMv1, PMP_Light_ROMv7 and KOR-Release-340.
I have my PC downloading all sorts of media during the day, music, videos, etc... as far as this discussion goes, all of them are completely legal and DRM-free.
My PC is a Dell laptop (i7-2670QM) running legit Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit I have a Samsung i9000 running ICS, and a B&N Nook Color Running CM7,
I tried reading about RTSP and UPnP and other stuff, but couldn't get my head around it, I'm usually good with computers, except for this case.
What I want to do is to setup a media streaming from my PC to any of my devices. I don't even want my computer to re-encode the media, just stream it as-is, given that you can play almost any format on android these days.
Is it possible? If so, what do I need? can I use VLC, or do I have to setup something more serious?
I have the samsung galaxy s2. The service keeps cutting in and out when it comes to texting and calls. I don't get texts until hours after and my friends don't get my texts until hours after or they aren't in order. Anyway to improve the service strength?
Last week I was in the US and had gotten the AT&T pay-as-you-go sim. It charges 1c/kb and I thought that's not too bad since I *only* get outlook and yahoo email. Well, *before* I knew it, it sucked up $14.40 for internet access....Frantically called AT&T customer service and after a long wait, they told me that my device had access the service and downloaded 1.5Mb! I asked them if there was a way to turn off the GPRS(since I was mostly interested in their $2/day unlimited calling service) and they said they don't have a way to turn it off Tried a bunch of things like turning off auto-sync (in settings) etc...but STILL I ended up paying $40 by the end of the day!!
Is their a way to turn off GPRS completely and also monitor what applications are accessing the service? All I have to go by is what AT&T says at the website!
I'm having a problem with my internet connection on my SGS. It used to lock to T-m*bile, I unlocked it lastweek then use L*bara instead cause got free internet service hehe. somehow, everytime i try to use internet service it says unable to connect to internet/ network unavailable. but I tried the simcard with another phone and it was working. some friends suggest me to re-unlock it. but i donno how to re-unlock it.
For some reason now, each time I manually lock the phone (button on side) and then unlock the SD card has apparently be disconnected during the locked time, because I get the notification that it is connecting when coming out of unlock. Of course with the issues the phone has with SD cards, this causes it to fail about 90% of the time.
i have a SGS i9000 i tried ti upgrade it to 2.3.6 but unfortunately i guess i've chosen the wrong pit file, here is what happened exactly my phone was on download mode i started the flash with odin and then and then it got stuck on download mode, and in odin i had no com3 (in yallow) so i waited a few minutes and i unpluged the phone usb, i tried to power it on nothing happens just black no download mode no recovery mode just the reflection of my face. i tried to take off the battry and leave the phone and power it back ok NOTHING, i tried a new original battry NOTHING, the only thing i didn't try is the JIG.
i worked so hard to buy that phone and now im back to my Nokia 3310.
When connecting my Galaxy-S to the Samsung Kies software, my telephone shows up with an incorrect telephone number. I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.
i had some old official Froyo firmware with Voodoo lagfix and Voodoo Sound on it. One day I've noticed that it now takes like 5-10 seconds after you press a power button for screen to turn on. It started to annoy me and I decided to update to latest official firmware. After I did, the problem I mentioned disappeared.
Anytime when i'm trying to make or accept a call phone freezes. Black screen and battery icon is all that is visible. However, call itself proceed and you can talk, but the only way to finish it is to remove battery (3G calls still works fine, btw) I've tried all possible firmwares from oldest ones to ICS... tried all cleanup options from recover menu, stll nothing's changed.
