This was listed under the "Samsung Galaxy S" sub-forum but would it also apply to the Fascinate and other US variants of the phone as well?
GPS issues?
If you read through that page there is a guy on there who is talking to someone at Clove Technology who is supposedly talking to someone from Samsung. What they are saying is that the fixes will be bundled with Froyo and hoping for an end of September update.

No one knows do they? Iam waiting for froyo before I root. Better safe than sorry.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWant to upgrade manually yourself? Download the Android 2.2 firmware for the Evo to your PC. Place the file in the top level directory of your SD Card. (Do not unzip this file) Rename the downloaded file. (If your Windows is configured to show extensions, then rename it "update.zip" if you do not have extensions visible then rename it "update" NOTE: If downloading the file from the above link, it's already been renamed for you) If you don't have it already, download ASTRO File Manager from the Android Market. Connect your EVO to your PC and set the connection type to "Disk Drive" Copy over the downloaded file to the root of your EVO directory structure. Power down your Evo Reboot into Recovery Mode by Holding down the Volume Down button as you power the phone back on. The Boot Loader will appear, A screen should appear showing your phones system searching for various files. Scroll down to recovery and press the Power button. (The Volume Up/Down buttons navigate the menu, and the Power Button selects the selection.) When you see the triangle with an exclamation point symbol, press the Power and Volume Up buttons at the same time. (and wait for 10-15 seconds), The recovery should eventually come up. Select Bootloader Scroll down to Recovery and select it The phone will reboot again, this time into Recovery. From the menu that appears, select Apply sdcard:update.zip. or "install from zip" (depending on your recovery image) When the screen displays �Install from sdcard complete select reboot system now and wait for the phone to power back up.
Wait a while.. the phone will reboot repeatedly and finally install the update with the new apps. (The installation can take up to 15-20 minutes)

(3) Use SuperOneClick for PC
(4) Use OneClickLagFix app
Just wanted to know how quickly Samsung has been pushing updates to they're android phones? any past experiences or ETA on Froyo for the Fascinate?

I have a few questions:
Do you think GPS will work on the phone out of the box?
Do you think Froyo and Flash will come pre-installed?
I hear the phone only has 2GB of onboard memory, but is there a microSD card that is pre-installed? If so, how much space is on it?
Does anybody know if you root will you still get the 2.2 update when it's released? I did root originally but decided to unroot because without 2.2 I can't do what I want anyway and I don't want to miss 2.2. Now if there were some cool custom ROM's it might be different......

It appears to start, then always stops at 10% and network error pops up. When I go to update status, it says "network error" and "code 409".
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt gets to the point of "verifying update package" and then says a bunch of other stuff (can't read it as this step and the next happen too quickly), and then in red says "Error in data/fota/(then I don't know what it says here because it reboots)." It powers back up and then tries to run the update process on its own again. I can cancel out of that and it works fine, but I'm just wondering why it won't update. Even when I try to refresh my corporate email doesn't update. I have it set on Push, so the email should automatically flush into my inbox. I have two other gmail accounts synced to the SF and they work fine.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAt a press conference in New Delhi, the VP of marketing made a comment that galaxy s won't be updated to Android 2.2
Comments made were as followed:-
UPDATE: The Galaxy S won�t be able to update to Android 2.2 and above. It will remain on Android 2.1.
UPDATE 2: Samsung will update the Galaxy S to 2.2 from their manufacturing facility. No word on the timing but those new devices will run on Android 2.2. They are still working on how to upgrade current units that are running on Android 2.1.
