Tried rooting so I started off flashing r8 of bh_man's 1.6 rom. Went through the setup, odin turned blue to pass and I let the phone run past the android system and then the screen turned off.
Thing about it is that the phone is still being detected by the computer and odin. It's like my phone is on a screen lock but not responding to when I push unlock.
Ive tried every custom rom and each one does the same. I try to go back to stock and most of the time the program closes, when it doesn't I try to flash it and it goes through the process but goes on forever. One time I let the timer go on for 2 hours and it was still on 5/9 completed.
Looking for a simple data toggle I can put on the home screen to turn data on/off with one press. I don't need multiple button for BT, WiFi, Gps because of the touchwiz drop down. Anyone using one with any kind of luck?
Home screen used to do landscape immediate and always. Now it doesn't do landscape at all unless I slide the keyboard out and it pops into landscape immediately. Then when I close the keyboard it goes back to portrait even when I'm holding the phone in landscape. Not sure how to fix this, help please.
1st time poster long time lurker. I have done a search on Google trying to find a solution or at least a reason as to why my phone is behaving this way. Search produces nothing. This week my phone started behaving strange. I will get a call, but the caller ID no longer displays. Suddenly the screen starts to flash and I have to unlock the screen in order to see who is calling. By the time the screen is unlocked the person has already hung up. I have not done anything (add new programs) in the last 2 weeks and I am not sure why this is happening.
Anyone else notice their Captivate screen waking up for no reason? Mine's only done it a couple of times, just wondering if there might be a more serious underlying issue. It'll light up for a couple of seconds with no alterts, notifications or sounds, then go right back to sleep.
Sometimes when I hit the screen/power button the screen will stay black and i can see the menu bar up top fine but all else is black. If I hit the home key then all lights up fine. Then sometimes Ill hit the button and it works fine.

I've had my Hero for a couple of months now. During this time I've noticed that on occasions the screen will slide to the right without me touching the screen. For example sometimes when I unlock the phone the homepage will slide to the far right, or when viewing a web page it slides to the right.Sometimes this is quite subtle and not too much of a problem. Other times the phone is unusable as a result and requires a restart.Initially I thought this was due to me putting the phone in my pocket without a case. However the problem occurs even after my phone has been sat on my desk all day. There is nothing unusual about my environment, the temperature is average, no direct sunlight or moisture.
Sometimes when I shut the slider quickly the phone shuts down. Then today it did it when I set it down on a table, and when I turned it back on the battery went from 42 to 12 percent. I then reset the phone and it was at 24 percent. Is anyone else having this problem? Could the battery just be losing contact?
I typically have my phone sitting on my desk infront of my keyboard @ work. I noticed that once maybe every 5 minutes or so, that the screen flashes on&off once. I assume it's waking to check for data updates or something, but just seemed odd.
How to use Dev tools which flashes momentary pink rectangle on any screen sections being redrawn? Tool description is given at http://developer.android.com /guide/developing/debug-tasks.html Could anybody please suggest me where to install this tool and how to use it?
I am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels. Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?
I'm by FAR not what you'd call a techie, and I'm totally new to the 'smart phone". I just bought a Motorola Droid. I'm still trying to figure this thing out. The one thing I'm kind of not liking is... With my old LG Dare, I used VZ Navigator for my GPS. That phone was a touch screen, but when I would use the GPS to find where I was going, I could lock the screen, and it would stay lit, and the program would continue to run. But if I bumped the screen with my finger, I wouldn't be thrown out of the program, or into another one.
I'm finding that with my new Droid (which uses Google maps) that when I'm using the GPS on that, I will occasionally bump the screen, and then I have to try to navigate my way back to the GPS. So if anyone knows of an app that allows me to keep my screen fully lit and the program working, BUT still locks the screen, could you please let me know?
Sometimes the three touch screen tabs at the bottom of the screen ,just stop working ,i can move between home screens and all other touch screen icons work, but not the three at the bottom, then suddenly they will respond Anyone else had this?,i have not installed any apps for a while so i dont think it is an app causing it.
I have an application I am currently working on for a client which is suffering from a particularly hard to debug problem. Every so often, the device screen will go blank, not just while running my application, but entirely. If I press the home button, for instance, it's still blank. This happens fairly rarely ( I myself have only seen it once or twice in a couple of months, and unfortunately couldn't gather log information immediately when it happened. What log info I was able to gather seemed to show that the phone continued to run properly - I was still seeing events in the log file - the screen was just blank ). So far, this has only been observed while running on Motorola Milestones ( this may or may not be coincidence - it's hard to tell given the infrequency of occurance ). Has anyone else observed anything similar? Any suggestions as to possible causes/ways of debugging?
Ok time for the next issue with this phone. Has anyone noticed a general lag between touch screen presses and actions/sounds?
The best examples are: 1) I type fast, and keep the click sound when I type. I can literally hear about a 1/4 second to 1/2 second lag between when I press the buttons and when the sound clicks. 2) Download any free piano or drum up and try to keep a steady beat. There's a nasty lag between when you tap the screen and when the sound comes out.
For comparison, the keyboard and piano app on my old iphone (3G no less), work perfectly. And my iPad is wonderfully smooth.
Is this a software issue, or a problem with my phone?
Musical Lite is a good sample program for free if anyone wants to try this out.
I was at school listening to music on pandora and it died, went home plugged it in (charger) and now when i try to enter my password it doesnt respond AT ALL! no even the emergency call.. this is pissing me off to NO END as I got it 3 days ago...
