I'm getting dropped calls left and right on this damn phone.Everything else about it is perfect but what's a phone when you can barely use it to talk? Does anyone think this would be an easy fix or the EVO is the way to go?

I use to own a palm pre before I switched to HTC EVO. I think the evo is a great phone but the two things I missed so much about my palm pre is the camera and the sound qualities.
The EVO is said to use 8MP for its camera but honestly the camera quality is nothing compare to the palm pre. Simply put, the camera and the sound output on the evo sucks.
You can clearly notice the difference between the pictures I took using the pre and the evo. The pre gives far better picture quality and also better sound output. I always enjoy plays my sounds or using pandora on my pre, but with the evo the different is the case. The sound quality with the evo is horrible even when plugged to good speakers.
I bearly take picture with the evo because I am used to good picture quality with my pre.
I have had the evo for less than two weeks and i am seriously thinking of returning it because of these two issues.
I really want to know, is this poor picture and poor sound qualities a thing with the evo in general or is it just with the particular evo that I got.
I (like hundreds of others) have had a call quality problem with the two Droid Incredibles I purchased for my wife and myself when they were released on April 30th. Verizon recognized that there was a problem and replaced both devices with ones manufactured about a month later (5/02) and the same issue with poor voice quality continued.
We love the device EXCEPT for the lack of ability to understand callers. So, I asked Verizon to extend our 30-day opt out to give them an opportunity to work out the issues with this device. I just received a call from Verizon customer service (which I could barely understand) and was told they would not extend the 30 day period and my option was to live with the poor sound quality or switch to another device. Verizon has no other devices that were interested in at this time so well be canceling these two lines (and one other) and returning to T-Mobile. T-Mobile may not have the best coverage, but they do have great customer service, unlike Verizon.
So far I have had bad luck with the signal/call quality. This is not just me not liking the number of bars but actually loosing all signal, not being able to make or receive calls, and it draining the crap out of the battery.Facts:
1) When outside, in my car, near the windows in buildings, the call quality is great
2) A Moto Droid in the same office gets acceptable signal and call quality
3) This is an issue anytime I'm in a building; Lowes, Walmart, the pet store, a mexican resturant... anything larger then my house.
4) My old iPhone never a problem in all of these places.
5) The side affect is it kills my battery life. I purchased the seido extended battery and it is always down to 30% by the time i leave work at 5pm (10 hours off the charger) On the weekends it lasts 40-60 hours no problem.
After talking with a Verizon Tech she told me they would send me a new phone. But due to the back order I won't get it before the end of the month. Which scares me since that puts me out of the 30 day return policy. So I asked her about that and she said this would extend it another 30 days. Which I wish I had in writing but heres for hoping this works because I love the phone when it works
I have had my droid for 21 days now. The first week I was frustrated because I could not use my "backup assistant" which I have used for a long time to transfer my contacts. ( im sure they will come up with an "app" for that soon, and it works very differently than my old LG. Once I worked through the basics of using the phone I started to notice I have very poor reception at my home. (This is really bugging me because my husband has the FREE LG flip phone and has perfect service everywhere in the house) I buy the best and he gets the free phone and he talks anywhere but I have to go out on the back porch or stand by the back door with my head against the window in order to talk to somehone. Part of me really wants to return it for that reason alone, but I love the other features of the phone and don't know if I want to give them up. Has anyone else had issues with poor signal quality>

However if I call my voicemail, volume and quality are fine. Obviously something is getting lost when your voice mail is getting routed through a data connection.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI thought my Palm Pre had excellent sound quality. But the Epic sound is phenomenal. I talk with my girlfriend every night and last night I heard tons of background noise from her 10 year old cordless phone.
I never heard any of it before. I actually thought I might have a defective Epic,but today I made other calls and the Epic is outstanding. Actually every aspect of the phone is outstanding.
Sort of two things which might be related. I've been having call quality issues with this phone since I got it. I thought it sounded very electronic and could hardly stay on the phone. Took it to a Sprint store and they did a soft reset and said they couldn't duplicate the issue. I made some calls, some said it sounded better. As long as I have the volume turned down it seems to be okay. But then it's hard to hear what they are saying. If I turn up the volume it sounds like someone is yelling too loudly too close to a microphone. Like bad speakers rattling or something (especially with "s" sounds).
On my headset which was $100 and worked so well on my old phone (people couldn't even tell I was on a headset) the person on the other side either says it's "okay" or says they can definitely tell I'm distant, to one friend saying it was "awful." When listening to Visual Voice Mail it's awful sound, regardless of the volume. Want to try to get a new phone, but then worried I'll have one of the other issues everyone else is having (WiFi or GPS or whatever).
Is my speaker blown or does anyone else have a problem with the qound quality when playing anything through the external speaker on KaosFroyo? Everytime I play any music or even a rng tone through the speaker it always sounds tinny and distorted. Everything sounded great before when I had the stock 2.1 Firmware.

The call quality on the Nexus One is much worse than the Droid. I did repeated tests with both. And I used WiFi, so it can't be a difference between VZW and T-Mobile.
Anyone else tried VoIP on the Nexus One yet? I wonder if I have a defective phone or if this is a bigger issue.
The VoIP call quality problems are worse when using a headset on the Nexus One! VoIP quality on the Nexus One is marginal to poor without a headset, but with a headset it is unacceptable. I have tested four different headsets now. I have also tested those headsets on the Droid, and they are good. So the problem is the Nexus One, not any particular headset. My first thought was that I had a bad headset jack. However, after more trouble shooting I tend to think its not as simple as that. Music sounds fine through the headset. It is only VoIP sound that sucks when using a headset. The problem is so bad that phone calls using a headset are not workable.
Summary of Nexus One and VoIP:
* VoIP sound quality is marginal on WiFi with no headset.
* Music sound is good with headset on Nexus One.
* Headsets I'm testing with are good with VoIP and music on Droid.
* VoIP on Nexus One with a headset has poor sound quality.
I experience poor sound quality after my pairing my htc desire phone via bluetooth with my parrot ck3100 handsfree device. The handsfree set is connected to my car stereo, and I need almost to turn up to full volume to be able to listen to the person on the side of the line. This problem doesnt occur with other cell phones i've tried, like nokia and samsung. I actually hear the person absolutely clearly with other cell phones. So this has to be some compatibility issue with my htc desire, or there might be some setting which can resolve this problem?

My wife also has an epic and she got the update this morning too. We put our phones next to each other and she has full bars. I am lucky if I get one. It looses service constantly and is looking for service. Could the update have done this, maybe I just never notcied. Could I have a bad radio?

Overall, I think the specs of the Epic win-out but the support (both HTC and community) for Evo is far superior. All of the debates about hardware and I havn't been able to find any real comparison regarding call quality. Since I actually plan to talk on the phone, what do those of you have one or the other or both have to say about sound/call quality? Ultimately, I think this will be the most important factor in my decision.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am coming to the conclusion that the poor battery charge time is a result of the batteries and not the phone. The reason I believe this to be true is: I purchased the charger that comes with a spare battery and it takes a good 3-4 hours to charge in that, with no phone attached. Batteries in my previous phones would take an hour to fully charge in a dedicated charger. I bet when Seidio comes out with batteries for this phone, we will see much better charge times and possibly better battery life.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had the Vibrant for a couple days now.Unfortunately, I have a VERY weak 3G signal and my call quality really isn't that great.In my house, when I hold my phone right next to my Dad's Nuron, he has a full 3G signal while I have 0 bars.That is frustrating to see.The phone isn't incapable of having 3G signal, when I travel outside of my neighborhood it usually has a very strong signal.It seems that whenever I am around a lot of trees or in buildings, the signal is very weak.I mostly just have an Edge signal.Also, the call quality is terrible. I don't think it has to do with the signal because even when I have full 3G bars, it still sucks.

Also, we noticed when watching some youtube vids (in the store) that the video doesn't fill the screen either. Is there a setting to change this or is that as good as it gets on the Epic? My wife was pretty disappointed with the lack of HD and the picture size (I'm not as fussed about it, so I really asking for her sake).

View 5 Replies View RelatedGot the Samsung Desk Dock for easy re-charging and using phone on nightstand. If I use the Samsung Desk Home app from the market, that app automatically detects that the phone is in the dock and runs the app. However, no other app is able to detect that the phone is docked, even with the Desk/Home app uninstalled (i.e. not the default). My understanding is that the phone should send a signal to Android if the device is being docked. Then Android sends a broadcast to all apps that the device has been docked. I have tested with two different apps which are designed to run upon the phone being docked and neither detects the phone being docked. Without the Samsung dock app loaded, there is no change when the phone is docked. It seems like only the Samsung app is capable of detecting docking. Am I missing something? How can I get the Epic to send out the "normal" signal to other apps upon being docked?

One day the speaker phone went out and I called the rep and they did not have a fix, so they sent me a replacement phone. The sound quality on my old phone was fine. A bit tinny at times but OK. But the replacement blows it away. I didn't even send it back for that, it was just an added bonus. So for those of you with sound issues. May want to get a replacement and see if its better?

But when watching the movie, they're is some chopiness and the quality is not as good like when watching a you tube clip in hd. Is there anything I can do to increase the video quality?

Also, my screen is very glitchy does everyone have that problem? One more thing. I will go to the call list and tap on the person I want to call and it will call someone else. Anything over two notches from muted gives me a wierd vibrating noise when the other end is talking semi high pitched and consistently. It sounds almost robotic or like paper. I didnt know if this was just my phone, the majority, or all epics suffer from this problem.

The only phone that interests me is the Epic so I have been reading a lot of forums and reviews. I have heard that the Samsung is supposed to have great quality through the 3.5mm(I think because of some pre-amp or dedicated part of the processor. I'm no expert and cant remember what I read and where).
I haven't really seen to many comments about the audio quality from the 3.5mm headset jack and also the exterior speaker loudness and quality. Coming from the Original Moto Droid it has the best external speaker on any other phone I've owned thus far but sub-par 3.5mm headset jack quality/loudness. Can anybody give me some of their personal opinions on how they think the Epic external speaker matches up to the original Moto Droid and how about the quality/loudness out of the 3.5mm.
like title states, post your build date and the experience you are having with it. I have had 2 10.07's and they both have had issues.
