I've tried to do a factory reset on my Captivate and its not working for some reason. I turn off the phone, hold the power and volume down buttons until the phone boots off, at which point I let go of the power but continue holding on to the volume down button.
Fascinate is factory resetting itself at random times, seems to be occurring only when corporate outlook account is added to the phone. started happening last night, the phone reboot itself and reformatted the drives, so upon reboot everything was erased. I re setup the phone and it did it again like an hour later. I re setup the phone a second time, only I did not add the work outlook email and it went all day long today without resetting. I'm worried if I add the work email account the phone will reset again. BTW the work email account was on the phone before with zero issues.
I had to do a complete reset of my phone to factory defaults as it turned out to be very sluggish latelly. Any recommendations as to what to do not to do, download not to download, or things to do first before reloading all my applications without getting back to a sluggish phone? Of course the best thing that could happen is to get 3.0 or whatever... Nah, that ain't gonna happen... The next best thing is to upgrade my phone...but... that aint gonna happen for me either for at least another 6 months...
I accidentally removed some needed default apps like Where and Gmail. So, I reset the phone via settings and also via boot up menu where you can install update.zip. However, resetting the phone in any way did not bring back the default software! What can I do at this point to get it back?
So this is my first Android phone and now that I've messed around with it for the past 2 days I'd like to start over clean. So how do I reset the phone back to factory settings? And will I lose any of the preinstalled programs?
Is vibrant running at 1ghz or 800. someone in the captivate forum suggested the vibrant is underclocked. I don't believe it, especially since my quadrant scores fresh out of the box beat out any quadrant score I've seen so far.
Got a unlocked Telus Motorola Milestone off Ebay about 2 weeks ago. Been working on AT&T and I loved it.
This morning... no data. It was just NOT working. Put the sim in another device, same drill. Got on chat with a AT&T employee... no go.
Went to the local store, new sim, still no. Employees sim card... no. Finally we played with the APN settings and some mobile web sites kinda work using proxy settings, but not full ones. Basically... I'm screaming inside.
While troubleshooting this morning, I factory-reset my milestone. Would factory resetting "lock" it again? Or once you carrier unlock, is it unlocked for good?
So I have an galaxy s vibrant. Now its rooted and has a jelly bean custom rom. Now I'm getting a new phone and I want to factory reset my phone, meaning i want all my apps, contact infomation and anything stored in my phone storage to be wiped but I want to keep the custom rom (Jelly bean ) and root permissions still. Is this possible? What would happen if i just factory reset my phone ,deleting everything on my phone , and wanted it like i got it out of the box?
I got a Kaya Android tablet which was lock after the user entered wrong pattern several times. The tablet presents the unlock with gmail screen but, guess what!, it does not connect to any even public unencrypted WiFi so that it is impossible to unlock with gmail account.
I tried to connect to it from adb via USB but it does not recognized as ADB device, only as USB mass-storage.And, finally, magic key combinations like power-volume-up does not give me any recovery or boot loader.
Is it the stage where I go and throw it to garbage or there is something else left?
When I do factory reset (which means the same as 'wipe', right?) it does resetting current installed ROM to its original state, right?
So, let's say I am doing factory reset the first time (so currently my phone has store ROM installed) so factory reset will revert all the changes in the installed ROM (such as settings, installed apps, all the data) to its original state - which the phone had since it got ROM installed.
But If I got root (which means I replaced secured kernel with unsecured one) and I installed another customized ROM and for some reason I want to do factory reset again - what's gonna happen?
Will factory reset revert original store ROM back or it will revert manually installed ROM (customized ROM) to its after installation?
And as far as I understood factory reset does nothing with kernel? It only affects ROM? So in the second case , when I use non-store ROM and I am doing factory reset - nothing will happen with my unsecured kernel?
I'm considering the possibility of selling my Behold 2 phone and getting something a little better supported (anything HTC, for example). I know how to flash the ROM back to the Stock, but, how do I re-format/prepare my MicroSD card in the phone back to it's factory settings?
And is there anything else that anyone thinks I will need to do in preparation for selling it?
I can't seem to find the setting. I swear I've seen it before. I did start the update, but canceled it as soon as I saw it was downloading.would that be why I don't see the setting? I wanted to see if I the update was available a few days ago. I didn't know it would just start downloading it. I want to do factory restore before I do update because I'm rooted and done the lag fix.
I'm have a some minor things that are not right and I'm wondering if a Factory Reset would help or be worth it.
1. keep syncing phone book over 3g (even if on wifi) sometimes 3 or 4 time in a 5 min span and even if background sync is off 2. random power downs 3. no market update (is this something I need to do manually?) 4. Sometimes 3g and wifi on at the same time.
how I can reset the default app settings. For example, using Blinkfeed on my M8, when I tap on a link, the first time I was asked which browser should be used. How can I reset Blinkfeed, or any other app to ask me again which app to use? Is it always an app setting, or can I centrally control that behavior?
I'm successfully getting these poll results to the eyes of Samsung support, in order to disprove assumptions they are having about the effectiveness of their "fixes". This poll assumes you are/were experiencing GPS issues. If you are not, there's no reason to vote.
Suppose I like another email app better than the one that is built in. How can I make it so the email icon on my home screen goes to that app instead of the factory email app? Or maybe there is a way to delete the factory icon and insert a new one in that area?
Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 220.127.116.11, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
Ok so I rooted my captivate. I then used the titanium backup thing to get rid of all the at&t bloat ware. I didn't back them up either (I know I'm an idiot) well now I need somethings back, like voice recorder. But I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I can format the phone clear all the stuff but nothing brings it back. How do I restore this thing to factory defaults with everything installed????? I'm also getting tons of error messages now too...
I did it last night, seemed to work fine, but I noticed something today. Under settings, applications, USB settings, there is an option for PC Internet that wasnt there originally. When I try to go to software update, it says Communication Failed. Unable to connect to ATT servers.
Coincidence that this started now, or is there something wrong? I reset the phone twice, and reloaded Odin twice. Everything else seems to work fine.
I called AT&T because I was only getting a couple bars and the guy suggested the Kies update, this is all new to me. What does the Kies do? Also, now under the USB settings the Kies (Firmware update) is selected (green dot), should that stay on? What are the other selections for? Media player, Mass storage, and ask on connection.?
I was trying to download a couple song (MP3) to my Captivate and didn't have success, I connected the phone via USB and it just showed "connecting" on the phone screen and then a message about cancelling Kies by hitting the home button?
I juat have a question about the software update under the settings. Currently my icon is an exclamation point and when i clicked on it it said something along the lines of "dm not available check sim card or network". I rebooted now i click on software update and can choose resume update but when i click on that is says no firmware. Does that mean there is not an update currently available for my phone or not? Im a bit confused.
Not sure what i've done to my phone, it's not bricked, but I can't get it to go back to the default settings. Each time I do a factory reset, it still has the tether app installed and other things as well. How do I take it back to the original, or at least somewhat updated original firmware? Please provide a specific link. I went to the samsung firmwares website and had no idea how to navigate that stupid thing.
