Go to the market and download Panda Home, this will give you a nice stock android feel, and it makes the settings menu return to stock form Part of touchWiz is gone, looks like its not as tightly integrated as I thought
jsut getting kinda nervous here, installed drivers for my phone, has stock 1.5, and followed the directions in the 1.6 stock rom download. im flashing with odin atm and its at like 30 min, and my phone is still downloading, is this normal?
I am looking at getting the behold 2. I really like the form factor and screen. What I don't like, is how sluggish it seems to be. From what I have heard, this is due to the fact that samsung has totally messed up the UI with that damn useless cube and other things.
Can this phone be wiped and then install a stock android 1.5, 1.6 or even 2.0? I am going to get it anyway regardless because I am still stuck in the dumb phone world, and can't even come close to upgrading. I'd wait for the nexus one, but without an upgrade I won't be able to afford it. SO I will stick with this one for a while.
I have learned to hate the stock music player on the Behold II as it doesn't recognize barely any of my music where the stock players and the HTC player work just fine (read tags properly and display album art).
This is killing (well annoying me) having to carry both my iPod and my phone when my phone should be able to do what it was advertised to do instead of giving me a huge list of "Unknown Artist and Unknown Album".
Any solutions outside of flashing a custom rom? (not possible for me as I have a G4 Mac and no access to Windows to run the ODIN flasher).
I recently converted to BH_MAN stock BH2 image + root. I'm having the following situation:After the install and performing the Master reset everything is working fine, I proceeded to download some applications and everything was operational. I rebooted my phone (for some reason I do not recall right now, happened 2 days ago) and when it came up, I had several applications corrupted: There was an icon in the same place that the original was with the same name but different icon, and if I clicked it would advise that the application was not installed. I would go to my downloads and the application management sections and see the application and it wouldn't work till I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it.Now, last night I also uninstalled the T-Mobile "My Account" software and let my battery drain out completely to have it sync correctly (that was another problem I was having, batt would say I was at 20% and I had 4 bars in the screen, fixed now) and once I let it charge completely I powered it on and some applications were uninstalled again, but the T-Mobile Account software was there again! Can anyone explain if this is a permanent problem or is there something to be done?
I'm using Bearsfan85's custom ROM, but have lost the voice dialer app that was in the Samsung's touch wiz ROM. As this is helpful to avoid car accidents while on the road, I was hoping to get it back. I have the .apk file but ASTRO file manager won't let me install it. I've tried to adb push it but I get a "read-only file error". For whatever reason, the commands "adb remount" or "adb shell sysrw" aren't being recognized, which I think is what I need to do to adb push the voice dialer back onto my phone.Unless of course, the Samsung apps just aren't compatible anymore.
I'm not using BeholdII's Sms program, but Handscent instead. This means that when I click the '5 new notifications' thing at the top, it doesn't go away, because it doesn't see me as having opened messaging. How can I disable this and just use the HS notifications?
Has anyone tried the BH2 stock email app on BH_Man's Galaxy 1.6 ROM? I'm curious if it works because it synced so well to my work email, while the Galaxy stock email does not. I'm willing to try it out if anyone has the apk. I forgot to grab it before I flashed the rom and I don't want to have to re-flash to TouchWiz, grab it, and re-flash back to 1.6, especially if doesn't even work.
Also, if anyone's interested, here's a link to an Exchange email app that I got to work on the 1.6 rom, but it's not as feature rich. Exchange ActiveSync on your G1! | Nexeo.net. Pre-apologies if anyone has a problem with providing a system apk. But I did pay like $250 for this phone. Please just PM me then.
I have read this one. http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-behold-2/54424-creating-custom-roms-backups-odin.html
But here is my idea: 1. will use original 1.6 ROM from T-Mobile 2. will NOT root 3. will extract the ROM files instead of dumping 4. will remove some useless applications (especially cube) but I will add vanilla Android keyboard or Swype, I will also change the Samsung music player (very slow) with vanilla Android player 5. will add Trad Chinese, Simp Chinese, Japanese interface 6. will keep current samsung notification bar, but I will change the color from black to grey or blue in order to make Weather bug works
In short, I'll like to have a 1.6 version of BH-MAN-ODIN one, which is my favorite.
a few days ago I was flashing my phone and had a power outage when I was almost done. Now I get can't it to show up on RSL or ADB. It's lagging like crazy. I did resets, I've been searching for 3 days for a way how to just put this phone (behold 2) back to stock, and I can't find a damn thing. I always hate to ask for help but I really need it. This thing freezes and randomly reboots by itself all day long. It's pretty useless. Does anyone have or know of a file I can download and flash or use in some other way to take my phone back to stock condition?
I'm no novice to Android, it's just Samsung seems to have made a lot of changes to this phone's settings menu, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to shut off the default SMS notification because I use Handcent SMS for my texting duties.
Does someone know where I can get the stock music player so I can get touchwiz player? Also why doesn't the album art show up on 99% of my music? I found an app called album art grabber, its 3 dollars though but works perfect!
I downloaded Open Home with the DarkHero skin. In doing so, it made my wallpaper resolution 960x854. So rather than each window having a separate wallpaper, it is now one big one, just like the Moto Droid. Which is awesome in my opinion. The problem is setting new wallpapers. Is there a way to manually save downloaded wallpapers to the stock Wallpaper Gallery, rather than the Photo gallery where all of my camera photos are stored? I only ask because it keeps asking me to crop these 960x854 photos and select which window I'd like to change, when I don't want to do any cropping.
This thread is for speeding up android and improving battery life for Behold 2.I learned back in my days of ignorance(iphone days, lol) that by removing certain startup apps, services, and languages you can make the phone faster, and have better battery life, you can do same thing on android.Less services=more RAM,more CPU power, faster os,better battery. Updated Things you will need: Root and Root Explorer app or ADB,there is probably other apps you can use also.
With your Root Explorer or Astro navigate to /system/app folder, cut and paste any service or app that you don't need to a backup folder on sdcard. That way if you removed something that you might need later you can always put it back (NOTE:when you put back apps that you removed don't forget to set permissions, that's the reason i recommend using Root Explorer because other file managers to my knowledge wont let you set permissions on files)..................
OEM 1.6 Packages are uploaded now.Odin files for the 1.6 OEM update are now available! All necessary files and instructions are included in the download. To use the update you will need a Windows PC, USB cable, your Behold II, and about 5 minutes. Some users are reporting that after the update the phone will temporarily be stuck in a boot loop. This seems to happen when the user has previously installed certain custom ROMs such as Take5 and Galaxy R12.The work-around requires a complete factory wipe of the phone, meaning you will lose all of your data and apps not on the SD card.
as the title says superuser and root for apps is not working. i installed BH_MAN's stock update rom (which was supposed to have root for apps, as far as i know) and cannot use apps requiring root. also superuser doesn't seem to actually be working. Can someone please help? everything else works great! I just need to use apps that require root.
