Samsung Behold 2 :: Cant Use Stock Apps With Custom ROM ADB

Sep 9, 2010

I'm using Bearsfan85's custom ROM, but have lost the voice dialer app that was in the Samsung's touch wiz ROM. As this is helpful to avoid car accidents while on the road, I was hoping to get it back. I have the .apk file but ASTRO file manager won't let me install it. I've tried to adb push it but I get a "read-only file error". For whatever reason, the commands "adb remount" or "adb shell sysrw" aren't being recognized, which I think is what I need to do to adb push the voice dialer back onto my phone.Unless of course, the Samsung apps just aren't compatible anymore.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Safe To Remove Stock Apps / Services For Speed Up

Apr 17, 2010

This thread is for speeding up android and improving battery life for Behold 2.I learned back in my days of ignorance(iphone days, lol) that by removing certain startup apps, services, and languages you can make the phone faster, and have better battery life, you can do same thing on android.Less services=more RAM,more CPU power, faster os,better battery. Updated Things you will need: Root and Root Explorer app or ADB,there is probably other apps you can use also.

With your Root Explorer or Astro navigate to /system/app folder, cut and paste any service or app that you don't need to a backup folder on sdcard. That way if you removed something that you might need later you can always put it back (NOTE:when you put back apps that you removed don't forget to set permissions, that's the reason i recommend using Root Explorer because other file managers to my knowledge wont let you set permissions on files)..................

Samsung Behold 2 :: Stock / Persistent Root ROM

Mar 18, 2010

I recently converted to BH_MAN stock BH2 image + root. I'm having the following situation:After the install and performing the Master reset everything is working fine, I proceeded to download some applications and everything was operational. I rebooted my phone (for some reason I do not recall right now, happened 2 days ago) and when it came up, I had several applications corrupted: There was an icon in the same place that the original was with the same name but different icon, and if I clicked it would advise that the application was not installed. I would go to my downloads and the application management sections and see the application and it wouldn't work till I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it.Now, last night I also uninstalled the T-Mobile "My Account" software and let my battery drain out completely to have it sync correctly (that was another problem I was having, batt would say I was at 20% and I had 4 bars in the screen, fixed now) and once I let it charge completely I powered it on and some applications were uninstalled again, but the T-Mobile Account software was there again! Can anyone explain if this is a permanent problem or is there something to be done?

Samsung Behold 2 :: Running Stock Android 2.0

Dec 28, 2009

I am looking at getting the behold 2. I really like the form factor and screen. What I don't like, is how sluggish it seems to be. From what I have heard, this is due to the fact that samsung has totally messed up the UI with that damn useless cube and other things.

Can this phone be wiped and then install a stock android 1.5, 1.6 or even 2.0? I am going to get it anyway regardless because I am still stuck in the dumb phone world, and can't even come close to upgrading. I'd wait for the nexus one, but without an upgrade I won't be able to afford it. SO I will stick with this one for a while.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Stock Email Application On 1.6 ROM?

Apr 3, 2010

Has anyone tried the BH2 stock email app on BH_Man's Galaxy 1.6 ROM? I'm curious if it works because it synced so well to my work email, while the Galaxy stock email does not. I'm willing to try it out if anyone has the apk. I forgot to grab it before I flashed the rom and I don't want to have to re-flash to TouchWiz, grab it, and re-flash back to 1.6, especially if doesn't even work.

Also, if anyone's interested, here's a link to an Exchange email app that I got to work on the 1.6 rom, but it's not as feature rich. Exchange ActiveSync on your G1! | Nexeo.net. Pre-apologies if anyone has a problem with providing a system apk. But I did pay like $250 for this phone. Please just PM me then.

Samsung Behold 2 :: How To Created A Cleaned Up ROM From Stock?

Aug 9, 2010

I have read this one. http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-behold-2/54424-creating-custom-roms-backups-odin.html

But here is my idea:
1. will use original 1.6 ROM from T-Mobile
2. will NOT root
3. will extract the ROM files instead of dumping
4. will remove some useless applications (especially cube) but I will add vanilla Android keyboard or Swype, I will also change the Samsung music player (very slow) with vanilla Android player
5. will add Trad Chinese, Simp Chinese, Japanese interface
6. will keep current samsung notification bar, but I will change the color from black to grey or blue in order to make Weather bug works

In short, I'll like to have a 1.6 version of BH-MAN-ODIN one, which is my favorite.

Samsung Behold 2 :: How To Flash Back To Stock?

Mar 3, 2010

a few days ago I was flashing my phone and had a power outage when I was almost done. Now I get can't it to show up on RSL or ADB. It's lagging like crazy. I did resets, I've been searching for 3 days for a way how to just put this phone (behold 2) back to stock, and I can't find a damn thing. I always hate to ask for help but I really need it. This thing freezes and randomly reboots by itself all day long. It's pretty useless. Does anyone have or know of a file I can download and flash or use in some other way to take my phone back to stock condition?

Samsung Behold 2 :: Zero Memory After Flashing Custom ROM

Jul 30, 2010

I encountered "zero memory" issue if I flash custom ROM over another with "onepackage" and factory reset doesn't help. Now I found a fix of this issue, and this should be done if you want to flash custom ROM over another.

Download and flash BH-MAN Warheads ROM http://www.4shared.com/file/nFe93F45/BH_MAN_WarHeads.html
Make sure you put in the components correctly. After md5 check has completed, you can flash and take a little break. Once you're in the standby screen on the phone, you can turn it off and reset the Odin and select the ROM and .ops file along with the ROM.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Run Stock Android Music Player?

May 16, 2010

I have learned to hate the stock music player on the Behold II as it doesn't recognize barely any of my music where the stock players and the HTC player work just fine (read tags properly and display album art).

This is killing (well annoying me) having to carry both my iPod and my phone when my phone should be able to do what it was advertised to do instead of giving me a huge list of "Unknown Artist and Unknown Album".

Any solutions outside of flashing a custom rom? (not possible for me as I have a G4 Mac and no access to Windows to run the ODIN flasher).
