I did the manual update everything went fine all is well..then i went to see someones number and boom its not there..i had 30 contacts before update and now i had 7
I dont use any google syncing
Luckily i had a backup app on there so was able to restore them all but dont know why this happened

View 24 Replies View RelatedToday I went to update my X10. While at work it wouldn't allow me to as it insisted I connected it to a computer. So at home I got the USB cabled hooked up to my Linux Laptop and then discovered it had to be a windows computer. Anyway, I got it hooked to a Windows computer and the update process began. I followed every instruction and set all tickboxes for backup. After unplugging this and plugging it back in and rebooting here and there, it finally reached the restore process. I left it restoring for a while.
When I came back to it, it said something had crashed. I don't know what as I'd just woken from a nap. But, it seems all my applications are restored. Yet my gmail account & facebook account have become disassociated from my phone and all my contacts no longer have any names or pictures. I opened the contacts/phone book and the list is completely empty. I tried to import contacts but it says it cannot find any anywhere. I have work related contacts as well as family & friends and really need to get my contacts back - please advise?
I don't know why but I have everything there after update to froyo but nothing that needs root will work. Su is there but root explorer or WiFi will not work.

I've lost Multi Touch Zoom on the Dolphin Browser Since the 2.1 update.
The native browser will not multi touch zoom either (I thought this was supposed to be included in the update).
Any ideas? I can't find a setting to turn it on.
I lost most of my contacts with the OTA 2.1 upgrade. Some have resynced from Facebook and Gmail, but a great deal of them are still missing including numbers I didnt have synced to FB or Gmail. The numbers are still associated with text messages in messaging app and Handcent, but all contact info has been lost on most of them. Is there any way to get my lost contacts back or are they gone forever?

(pictures, status.)My "last" updated was a date AFTER I removed the .apk, but since then it was stuck basically on the 24th of Oct.Pictures I know are different on facebook dont come to my phone.I tried deleting and re-adding the account, and that fixed it, but thats not a long term solution.Does it need that APK or not? All that is left now are just the phone numbers from people that have left text messages but those who I do not have a recent call history with are gone. Is there any way for me to regain those contacts without having to re-enter every one of them all over again, or possibly without having to go to Verizon for them to import my contacts?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but since the last OTA update, my Eris was literally stuck in 1xRTT data mode for unknown reasons. I fiddled with all the mobile network settings I knew about to no avail.
On a lark, I dialed *611 to try to get tech support on the line. I figured that maybe the Seattle area was having some service issue or something. Instead, the tech suggested I try dialing *228 and hitting option 2 in the menu (essentially resetting the phone's roaming setup)
Boom goes the dynamite, as they say. After a reboot, my Eris is sailing on the winds of 3G awesomeness and it's all thanks to a Verizon tech giving the right answer. Never thought I'd actually utter those last six words.

Ive tried the menu button while in contacts, and I don't see a refresh button.
I have upgraded my OS from 1.6 to 2.1 today using the PC companion.
As suggested, I have taken the backup using the backup & restore app.
After, the phone got upgraded, I could find only facebook contacts in my list.
then i went to View options and played around with all the check boxes and i could view the contacts.
how ever, i could see each contact having the numbers multiple times inside it.
so, I deleted the contacts and tried to restore them again.
the restore was successful. i can see the contacts in my favorites list. when i dial/receive calls, i can still see the contact name.
but, the contacts are not being shown in the list. i know this is a weird problem.
Sync my pix apk sucks. removed some bloat ware using titbck up. I backed all apps b4 removing. But titbck up won't let me restore them. They have a strike through line on them. I need the social networking.apk and motoblur contacts sync apk. Can somebody up loaf or let me know how to restore them. I'm thinking about sbf'or will a factory data reset be ok?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid.When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)

View 1 Replies View RelatedAs a recent convert from Windows Mobile with ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center, I chose the Evo expecting HTC Sync to work at least as well to keep everything synchronized. I have since learned to be sure I have a fresh Outlook backup before I start, because HTC Sync has wiped out the calendar and contacts on my phone and PC before. I can usually get People and Calendar to sync okay now, but do the Bookmark and Gallery syncs work for anyone? I have both turned on, but never see any results.
According to the program, Gallery is supposed to copy my "device Camera shots to PC". "File will be saved to /My Photos/Device Camera Shots". I've searched my whole PC and don't have either of those directories anywhere. If I create them, will it work? If so, where should they be created? I have it set to "Sync all bookmarks from Firefox", but when I open the Internet app on the Evo, there are no bookmarks. The browser acts like it's Opera, but there is no Help/About to confirm that. Is there another browser that HTC Sync is copying them to?

I was told to head to data syncronization>google> unclick contacts, in order to solve this issue. The probalem is shortly after i did that the majority of my phone contacts were deleted! I only have contacts S through Z in my contact list now. Any ideas on what I should do or what happened?
