Samsung Fascinate :: Moving Bloatware & Other Apps Safely

Sep 27, 2010

So, I have been successfully moving bloatware and other apps I don't use - from Verizon apps to Samsung Widgets. I use LauncherPro exclusively and according to this site, TouchWiz30Launcher.apk/odex can be removed safely, but he also mentions not to move Launcher.apk, which I don't see in my system folder. When I move it, the phone is operational, but keep getting a force close error for TouchWiz30Launcher.apk/odex. By moving it back with Root Explorer, it corrects the error immediately.I guess what I am asking is...is it possible to disable the 17MB file of TouchWiz if I am not using it, and if so, how.

Motorola Droid X :: Way To Uninstall Bloatware?

Jul 16, 2010

Really enjoying the new Droid X so far (my first smartphone), but I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of all this horrible bloatware. I cannot even see the apps to uninstall through the settings on the phone, and trying to uninstall them through appbrain just gives an uninstall error. Anyone know if it's possible to remove them?

Motorola Droid X :: Safely Delete The VZW Backup Assistant?

Jul 18, 2010

Is it possible to safely delete the VZW backup assistant?

It seems unnecessary as I have my contacts in Gmail, and it won't even sink now anyway...

I know I can just set it to not sync, but I can't stand knowing that it is there, doing nothing...

Can this be done without damaging any of the phones information?

I swear, I did a lot of searching before posting... The best resource I found was this: xda-developers - View Single Post - Apps that are OK to remove with root But does that require toast's root method? If so, anyway to uninstall bloatware with the unrevoked root method? Also, could someone link me to or list the apps that cannot be uninstalled.

HTC EVO 4G :: Way To Uninstall Bloatware?

May 26, 2010

It seems to be common practice for service providers to bog down their newest phones with bloatware. I've read some information on these forums that seems to indicate that the Evo comes with a lot of sprint programs installed, IE bloatware. I'm a current blackberry user and one of the perks of having one is that I was able to remove all of tmobiles useless, bloatware apps from day one so I could use the phone's memory on programs that I wanted. Now, my question is, is there is a simple uninstall feature that would allow me to unistall programs like sprint tv, sprint nav, etc? Or would I have to root the phone to be able to uninstall those apps?

Samsung Fascinate :: Does Appbrain Uninstall Bloatware?

Sep 27, 2010

I just installed appbrain, and it shows bloat like cityID and VZ navigator. It also shows an uninstall option as well. Theoretically, can you Sync with AppBrain, uninstall all that bloat, then perform installs again when you need restore the bloat (for when updating or anything)? Haven't tried this yet but just wanted to see if others have.

HTC Incredible :: Uninstall Bloatware Applications In Nootard Terms

Jun 15, 2010

I successfully rooted the phone. My main reason (initially) is so I can delete some of the bloatware that came with it. I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. For the record, I'm technically savvy, I've just never done this before and don't really know where to begin.

HTC Incredible : Safely Use Titanium Backup Without Loosing Seatings?

Jul 28, 2010

Okay, I've asked this question in several other threads and forums, but never gotten a clear answer:

If I use Titanium to back up my Inc w/ 2.1+rooted+Leaked OTA , can I safely restore all apps, settings (including email account settings, wallpaper, home screens), and appearance once I install the Froyo 2.2 that leaked today?

I've seen some posts that say you should never apply system settings from an old ROM to a new one, but the whole reason I bought Titanium was so that I wouldn't have to re-set up all my home screens, background images, wallpapers, email accounts, etc. If I wanted to just backup/restore apps, there are a million ways to do that. I thought the whole reason Titanium only works on a rooted phone was so that I could restore EVERYTHING.

How can I SAFELY use Titanium to move to the leaked Froyo ROM without losing any of my settings, apps, or appearance?

Motorola Droid :: Apps Not Restoring From Backup

Aug 30, 2010

Had issues with install of Watermark'D theme over CM6 rom. Finally got all that sorted but had to elect to install Google Apps separately after the fact. I restored backups of all my apps through Titanium Backup except for three - Tweetdeck, Weather Channel, and Yellowbook. Titanium would not restore them - I would click on install, it would try, then come back with an installation failed message. Went to both the market directly and Appbrain and attempted to install them from there. Found them listed but when I clicked on it to install got an item not found message. Tried to install Tweetdeck from the apk and got the same message as with Titanium. Oh and have downloaded other app from market successfully. Any ideas?

So I did a batch backup with Titanium and when I went to restore on a new ROM I was trying (first time I'm trying this), when restoring all of the apps, it didn't do it automatically? Like I was reloading a bunch of apps, and it prompted me for EACH APP. Is there a way to just press restore on a batch I backed up, and it just puts everything on the phone that I selected? It took a long time sitting there and pressing ok after each app.

General :: Galaxy S4 I337 - Deleted Bloatware With Titanium Backup

Sep 19, 2013

I recently rooted my galaxy s4 i337 and I heard about deleting bloatware so I was like, "hey that sounds cool!"

Sadly I did not realize the effects that deleting those files could cause to the device... I have factory reset my phone at least 5 times hopping that the deleted files would come back.... but they did not.

My problems are that whenever I pull up s-voice, I comes up with a message saying, "Unfortunately, S-voice has stopped working". I tried re-installing it with files I found from this site but then it started saying that I could not connect to the network so that was a dead end. I also have messages when I do various tasks says, "Unfortunately, Samsung text-to-voice engine has stopped."

I change my main language text to voice thing to google instead of samsung and that worked a little, but I still get the occasional message and s voice is completely broken. I saw that re installing chat on could work and i downloaded it because I think I may have deleted it, but it made absolutely 0 difference...

And one other question, when I backup my apps, and then do a nandroid restore I assume Titanium backup will need to be reinstalled. Once I do this will I still be able to restore the apps from the SD card?
