i have a DX, ran it stock for a few months and rooted it yesterday. but now my screen wont auto turn off. i need to do it myself ( button on the top )im running set cpu, widget locker, and launcher pro are the only things major.under settings>display its set for 15 seconds but it still doesnt do anything.
My nephew was playing with my phone and evidently set a password on the phone to wake it up. He told me the password and I can use it to wake the phone up just fine but I use the slide screen, but now there is both password unlock and the slide screens. I cant figure how to remove the password one
I am an avid rom flasher, i had just switched to bb0.4 yesterday and was fixing it all up, i aid it to rest on its charging dock as i do every night at about 4 am, i had my alarm set for 9, i slept so good, but woke upo and it was 11? glad i did not have to work. But my screen is blank, i picked my droid up and hit the power button, the M comes up and then going into BB's quickboot, then it goes blank, i try again, same M then quick boot, then blank. NOw nothing, i cannot get the screen to turn on for the life of the phone, plugged in or not.Its dead...... The white light comes on when i have it pluged in right under the usb port, but im so sad, i have an original release day droid thats been running great and working with ulv kernals like a king, i was runnning in the 1700's for mflops, 1366 in quadrant, im hurt....i dont want no stupid refurb....Is there anything i can do, what does a phone do when its bricked? are these signs of being bricked? There is something very odd about this story, i bought two droids on nov 6th, one for me and a friend, he stayed stock, me aggressively rooted and his did the same exact thing last week, his died out of the blue but he had dropped it on the floor and never turned on again, just same white light under the usb port...any help would be great before i get something new. By the end of this letter i switched batteries with friends refurb droid and OMG my droid booted right up! I am so happy, now where can i get a new battery like NOW...Sorry for the long sad story but at least it has a good ending.
Im sure this has already been asked but are there any apps out there that turns off the slide to unlock/draw pattern to unlock screen? Its getting annoying to have to press the power button and then have to deal with a lock pattern. Ideally I would like to press the button and go.
For the last 2 1/2 months, briefly pressing on the top on/off button would turn off the screen, but today something has changed and this brief press no longer works. Any idea which setting controls this behavior? I looked everywhere I could think off, used Spare Parts--all to no avail.
Having a problem with my Screen Timeout setting. Every so often (at least once a day) the Screen Timeout setting will change so that it's not set to anything (no bubble filled) and screen will not turn off spontaneously. It, in fact, seems to turn the screen on when this happens. I find the screen on when I had physically turned it off. This is wreaking havoc with my battery life.
Well, what happened was my screen turned blank. I could not turn off the phone. It was just blank. The buttons on the bottom of the phone will light on and off when pressing the power button. What am i suppose to do in this situation or any other situation where my Droid isnt acting right? Well, i didnt know what to do so i just took out the battery and put it back in. I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it. I hope my phone will be okay after that. So, whats the right way of going at it?
After upgraded to 2.0.1, the screen unlock always give me phone vibration. Does anyone know how to disable the energy-spending vibration from Setting? I could disable the 4 soft buttons vibration but I don't know how to disable this.As I remember, there is no such vibration in version 2.0.
so you know when you use this phone , it turns off like every 30 -40 sec when we not using it , we have to turn on the screen by press the power button on the side. THEN I HAVE TO unlock by slide.is there anyway i can click on the screen to show up the screen to unlock .
I am a new Eris user and so far I love it except for a few problems. One being when I am talking on the phone and I need to hit a button how do I get my screen to turn back on? Sometimes its like the phone knows it needs to turn back on and other times I fight with it. Also the battery life is killing me but I do use it alot.
I'm thinking about using a hidden api to turn the screen off in my app. setScreenState from http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=blob;f=core/java/android/os/Power.java does what I want, but its a hidden API. Does that mean I shouldn't use it? I would think its a fairly stable api. Currently, I'm setting the screen timeout to 1 millisecond, and then resetting the timeout once the screen turns off. However, android ignores the 1 millisecond and instead it takes about 3 seconds to turn off and sometimes it ignores it completely and doesn't turn off. Any suggestions?
Both of the stickers - the one on my phone, and the one on the battery still have red X's. I have read that this is good. I dropped my phone in a toilet (recently flushed thank god) in the Staten Island Ferry Terminal (see, nothing good comes of traveling to SI!) and grabbed it out as soon as I saw it. I had a plastic case on the back of it. Took it apart as soon as I got my wits about me. And no, I wasn't using it - It flew out of my backpack when I turned around.
It will turn on but has this odd boot up screen. I don't believe rice will get the water out of the inside, and I don't have a screw driver tiny enough. If I bring it to the Verizon store will they know it had water damage from the screen alone? It looks normal almost like the DOS blue screen of death sort. Also, the little tiny green sticker in the lower right hand corner that says VOID - is that a water damage indicator too? I don't recall ever caring what it was.
Is it possible to turn off the 3G (other than using airplane mode)? When I got my droid X a week ago it was working and now it's not. I did turn off a number of things to save battery life and I connect mainly through WiFi but not the 3G connection is not working, no 3G icon on the status bar even with airplane mode off and the phone itself working to make calls (3 bars). I've looked all over "settings" to see if there is a way to turn 3G off and on and don't find anything.
So all of a sudden today I notice the weather wont update. Then I try turning on GPS. Won't turn on. The button is lit on the power dock but no icon. Also for some reason as I type this there is terrible lag. Can GPS be unavailable in certain places? I just installed gde. Don't know if that's it. Might have to hard reset?
i was just getting out the car right now when my phone dropped from my pocket into the curb and there was water there now my phone only turns on and says " bootloader 2c.6c" on the top left hand corner, i think its dead.will verizon give me another droid, i think i've fore xactly one month now, im not sure if i got the insurance, i dont remember talking about it with the salesperson and now im freaking out if i would have to pay full retail for another one.
So my phone just turned itself off when I had just restarted it and it will not come back on. I've tried battery pull(and letting it sit there several minutes), sd card pull, charging it while there isn't a battery in the phone, and charging it with the battery plugged in.I can't get the phone to come back on. I'm rooted with CM(no overclock kernel). Do you guys think if I take it to verizon to get the warranty replacement I will get a 570 dollar charge after they replace it? What I mean is do you think they will be able to test it and figure out it wasn't stock and bill me.Also, do you guys have any ideas on how to get it to come back on?
Anyone know an app that can disable 3G data services on the Motorola Droid? And before anyone says use APNdroid, the app does not work, still updates all my data services even when set to off. Basically I just want to disable data when I am at work so it saves battery.
