I love my Droid X. I downloaded PdaNet and paid for it. I received the receipt and clicked on the Pdanet tray icon and hit the register button. I wasn't smart enough to use copy and paste for the serial number and I typed it in instead. Tried three times (my typing isn't that bad) and all tries failed and the register button disappeared from the icon. I have tried to obtain help from PdaNet but no luck so far. The app is worthless to me if I can't access secure sites so I am ready to go in a different direction unless one of you can give me a suggestion for registering PdaNet.
I have been searching for an application to replace the need to press the power button up top in order to get the screen activated so that I can start using my phone once the screen powers off. I am hoping there is some kind of application that can do this just by changing the way the phone is held like if its accelerometer changes by a certain number of degrees or something like that.
I'm trying to teach myself how to write android apps and I'm having trouble registering a button click and taking actions based on which radio button is selected at the time. This is a simple tip calculator:
I installed the NexTheme R2, and then restored all my apps with MyBackup Pro. My apps are on my phone but if I go to the android market place it's as if they are not installed. If I proceed to install the app it informs me that it is going to overwrite the current app. Is there a way to register installed apps without reinstalling each app? I am afraid that I will not receive updates due to the phone thinking the apps are not installed.
With much headache I've gotten PdaNet to work with DroidX via Bluetooth, despite some part of the Bluetooth driver not installing correctly/missing driver component.I've got the thing to what seemed to be the connected state on my dad's laptop, because he wants to browse at work, anyway.. I think the Bluetooth connection is working, but Verizon seems to be able to tell that its a tether because it pops up that Verizon page asking me to get a payed subscription for the tethering service (the site that shows the pretty chart where they say they want $30 more) no matter what site URL I type in.Any ideas why this happens? suggestions? Is there another solution that people have confirmed working for DroidX or am I doing something wrong? Also, I read that to use the USB connection to PdaNet I had to install the PdaNet Desktop app, which I tried to but kept failing install using the Motorola and Generic driver options, but I think despite this, PdaNet seems to not work right because of that page keeps popping up asking me to purchase the HotSpot plan addon. What do you all think? Thanks for help beforehand.
I'm planning to buy a Droid 2 and wanted to know if I could get tethering via PDAnet? A co-worker was using her Droid 1 w/ PDANet without paying for the tether but the amount of data transferred wasn't too high. Is this still possible with Droid 2? I also plan to use the Droid 2 a lot as a GPS navigation tool while driving. Which vehicle mount do you recommend? I don't really want to use the cigarette light as a mount (rental cars have different configurations) or the windshield (easily shows that I am using a nav tool, but it is still feasible) - probably looking at the vents or the dash. Any recommendations? Finally, I heard that an anti-virus program is highly recommended. Any ideas on what to get? What other apps must I absolutely get? I'm not big on downloading movies/TV shows or even music, I just want to use the Droid 2 as a small traveling PC for access to the web and possibly use it to provide internet access for my netbook.
Has any one had any troubles with PdaNet this weekend ? I have been loosing connection like crazy today on my laptop . It seems to just drop like every other 1 hour or so .Been like this that last few days . Any ideas from any one ?
I have the Nexus 5 with 4.4.2 , I'm new with Android, my phone is rooted. I recently made the "buttons" disappear adding a line in the build.prop file and instaled LMT to have a pie,but the problem is that in Google Chrome, the Settings/Menu Button in the top right (the one with three little boxes) disappeared. How to make this button appear?
I use my file explorer a lot. It eliminates much of the "You have to put the files here" sort of requirement of many applications. And in many case - movie files for example - when you touch the file, it opens it in the appropriate application. There are exceptions like *.epub files. When I touch one, I get the famous "...does not support." message. So the question is, can I "register" Laputa (for example) to be the app to open *.epub files - Similar to the File Types dialog in Windows?I suppose this might require root access?
I'm building an alternative Home application (a replacement of the standard launcher). There's something I don't know how to make: how do you register your application so that it is called when the user click on the Home hard button ?
I am writing a android application where I want to register my application to remoter server when application is first launched on installation. Application will register to remoter server itself without taking any user input. How Can I track whether this is a first application launch after installation?
We have a web application and we've built phone applications (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry) to be companions to the site. The usual workflow is that an existing user of the site gets a phone app and then plugs their existing credentials into the phone app and they are off and running, but more often now we are seeing folks who are downloading the app and then (and this should not surprise anyone) don't read the help screen that explains they need to go and get credentials at the web site and therefore cannot connect to the application which does require registration to manage their content. This is a giant usability fail condition.
So we know that we need to put user registration workflows on the phone app. Other than the obvious solution of duplicating our registration page on the mobile, does anyone know of a better identity solution for the phone? For example, on the desktop we also use Facebook Connect as an identity server and the users love it. I'm looking for something that simple that we can implement across the major smartphone platforms. Clarifying note: I should add here that this registration mechanism is likely to; and it would be desirable if it did, go hand in hand with a general identity/authorization mechanism such as the Facebook mechanism mentioned below. One other place I'm poking around is to see whether there's an openId solution that does not require a browser to pop up.
I'd like to add a Broadcast Action to my Intent Filter that listens for when my application is successfully updated(replaced).A new version of an application package has been installed, replacing an existing version that was previously installed. The data contains the name of the package."
All my Outlook contacts and calendar suddenly disappeared. Using Droid with firmware version 2.1 update 1. Anyone else experience this? Forum has a couple of posts but mostly they seem to be related to operator error. FYI, I don't use the Google method discussed here to sync. I sync via an ap named CL USB Sync but had not used it in awhile.
Been running Rubix since 1.6 release. Recently updated to 1.8.9. Been running it for a day then decided to theme it. I put Buyers Beware on it and ran it for half a day. Ran great!! Saved a backup and then flashed back to my bare 1.8.9 backup and installed Sinful Blue theme. Ran this theme for a day. Last night I noticed that my Settings menu was missing. It wasn't there. Couldn't find it anywhere. Opened spare part to look at battery info and it forced closed. Then I noticed that everything in spare parts FC'ed. Fed up I flashed back my good Buyers Beware backup. Once rebooted there was no service. Funny, unlocked the phone and there is no dialer. It says that application isn't loaded on my phone. Also my contacts app is gone. Gettin' worried. Flashed back to my bare 1.8.9 backup and everything works great. For kicks and giggles I rebooted recovery and loaded the Buyers Beware theme again, the one that worked great when I first installed....NO DIALER AGAIN! Back to bare 1.8.9 I go.
So for some reason my vibrate will no longer work on texts (haven't got any calls yet should probably try it). A couple of my buddies are having problems with theirs not vibrating too however I did just root and they're running on stock stuff (one just dropped his on his driveway though so he thinks that's the reason).
Is it do to rooting or is it happening to anyone else?
