Motorola Droid :: Way To UnRoot / Would Get Warranty Back?
Ok so I know if you Root you phone you lose your warranty. But is there a way to unroot and would that get your warranty back? How would Verizon know that I Rooted my phone?

Everyone is always so concerned about unrooting, removing su, removing busybox, etc., and so-forth. Well, finally an extremely simply solution. Almost too simple. Go to the Market and install SholesMod Updater. Sure it's $5, but it does it all for ya. Just install the application like any other, then open it. Select "Stock 2.0.1 (No root)" and let it do it's thing. And no one is the wiser. Hope this puts some minds at ease.

Motorola Droid :: Unroot - Resetting Phone Back To Stock 2.1
I've changed my Moto Droid to the Droid Incredible, I will miss and keep Moto Droid in my heart. (It also made me realize iPhone was just a platonic relationship). I'm selling it off to offset cost. It's already deactivated, I've been trying to use the Rom Manager to download a stock image but it keeps failing, apparently it doesn't want to use Wifi (tried in airplane mode too). Even then the version it downloads is rooted. I'd like to reset/wipe the phone down to 2.1 or 2.0.1 and a way to make sure OTA will work when it gets activated. How can I do this?

HTC Droid Eris :: How To Unroot And Revert Back To 1.5?
I don't need to do it right now, but in case I have to send it back, I'd like just ONE forum that gives simple instructions on how to unroot and revert the HTC Droid Eris back to stock 1.5. Seems like every forum I find is either 9,000 posts of people talking about completely unrelated subjects or is for the Moto Droid. I would think there would be a program out there that would do this automatically by now.

History: I recently rooted my phone and flashed the DJdroid V1.2 ROM. I was very happy with it but found the 720p choppy. I assumed it was the ROM and that the stock froyo ROM would be flawless so unrooted and updated to the OTA ROM. I've since found its cacka on that too and want to unroot again. Why? Because I hate all the adware that flashes everywhere on my phone now its "stock". The DJDroid ROM maker has removed all that crap "Thanks to the maker". So my question is, before I blindly head back to DJDroid V1.2, are there any other ROMs that I should consider? The main thing for me is that it looks very similar to the stock ROM and has sense as I am comfortable with this arrangement.

Ok. First things first, I am simply in love with my Droid. I learn new things everyday. For example, yesterday i took a picture on a trip, and on the ride home, went to look at the picture in my gallery, and under the picture it read Dayton, Ohio. It knew where I took the picture! Anyways enough of my droid love, i've got some questions for you droid gurus. 1. I want to root my phone so badly. Im afraid of it bricking though. But the thing is, ive done a lot of research, and it seems bricking hardly ever happens. I want to overclock and i really want some kick ass ROMS! Should i do on pc or my pro? 2. My screen, when closed, when you tap on the screen near the lower left corner, the screen taps. Like the screen is loose. I wanna take it to verizon. But i wanna root. But i want my warranty still usable.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Need To Unroot And Turn Back To Stock
So I have issue with my phone, no one can hear me on phone calls. Unfortunately I need to return the phone to stock so I can take it into the store for warranty. So if I just run the 2.1 official, will that take care of it? Or should I use some other method to do it. Also, I see the update is an EXE, is that gonna give me troubles since I have a linux PC?

HTC Eris :: Easy Instructions To Unroot Back To Stock?
I know there are many threads on this already, and I apologize for creating yet another one, but I can't seem to find a clear answer on how to do this. I've already tried the method described in the "Guide from stock 1.5 to the latest root 2.1 thread" and that method failed. Here is the situation, I'm having an issue with my phone that is basically making it unusable, see this thread: Phone stuck in headset mode. This is my 2nd eris after having it replaced once already, and I'm going to try and use this problem as an excuse to complain my way to an upgrade. But before I go into Verizon I need to unroot my phone. I currently have a rooted v of 2.1, I'm not sure what is is called but I think it's basically a rooted version of the official OTA. I am not on Leaked. Now after the OTA I don't know if 100% stock means 1.5 or 2.1 but basically I need it so Verizon can't see that I've voided my warranty. I am looking for an idiots guide to going back to 100% stock. I've found a few threads on this but I am not tech savy enough to understand the technically discussion to know if these methods will even work for me. I'm looking for a easy to follow guide back to stock that is written so that even an 8 year old can follow it. And I'm not talking about one of those freaky computer genius 8 year old, I'm talking about the kind of 8 year old that picks his nose and eats paste, the one who is a little bit slow. You know who I'm talking about we all went to school with at least one kid like that.

Motorola Droid X : Back Button Functionality - Cannot Simply Go Back One Menu Using The Back Key
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button. As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot. Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering. Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button. It makes navigating the phone very tedious.

Motorola Droid :: Using DMupdater To Unroot
I've used DMudpater before to unroot with no problems. I just did it a few minutes ago and I'm able to get past the M logo and the Eye. However, once the phone starts to load up, I get nothing but a rapid succession of FC's for every app on my phone. After the FCs, my screen is COMPLETELY BLACK except for the status bar, which shows a date of December 31, 1969 and shows a time of 7:05PM (it's actually 4:15PM where I'm at). There's no service in the status bar.

Motorola Droid X :: Forgot To Unroot
I changed all the apps back from bak to apk. I then moved bin to xbin and for some reason forgot to unroot. I then downloaded the 2.2 OTA and now phone is stuck on the M Logo. From my understanding I can't flash so now what to do? BTW I'm using the Terminal Emulator for rooting not ADB.

Motorola Droid X : How Do I Unroot Phone?
No immediate plans to but does anyone know how to? I assume delete superuser.apk su and busybox. Was there an original version of su that got overwritten? The only other dx we have that isn't rooted is a hundred miles away but i could try to fish su out of it and check the attributes on it. Anyone ponder this yet? May not be necessaryto do as froyo may wipe anyway. Then again birdman says 2.2 is patched and our 2.1 exploit doesn't work. Meaning an ota from vzw will lock us out.

Motorola Droid : Unable To Unroot?
I'm pretty new when it comes to rooting and whatnot, but I gave it a shot. It worked well. I currently have Cyanogen 5.0.5 on my phone and I love it! I heard that the OTA 2.1 is finally out, and I wanted to unroot and try it to compare against my ROM. I have read of ways to do this, but I think my situation is a little more unique. I attempted to revert back to stock via ROM Manager. I must have done the wrong thing, so I ended up just reinstalling the update.zip file from my SD Card. I resigned into Google and it was just like the first time I rooted. I re-downloaded ROM Manager and when I try to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", I get the error message: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands." The "reboot into recovery" also does not work. I can still hold "X" and power on, but I just get the clockwork recovery menu, and end up nowhere but back to Cyanogen. I love Cyan and will probably stick with it, but nothing as far as root apps work anymore. DM also doesn't work for me anymore. When I enter recovery mode, it gives me the option to boot from update.zip, or factory reset. Would factory reset mess everything up? Any help/ideas?

I have a Droid with CM6 currently. I am thinking of giving the phone to my wife and getting a Droid X (unless someone here knows of a better phone). If I do this, I think it would be best for her to have an unrooted Stock Droid. I did this before with a Droid I had to send in: Unroot from Bugless .4 to Stock 2.1 But is there a 2.2 SBF to install? Or do I need to install 2.1 then wait for the update?

Motorola Droid :: Any Easier Way To Unroot Other Than Using RSD Lite?
I have used RSD Lite before to re-root my phone after applying 2.1 so I am comfortable using it again. I was just wondering if there is an easier way to unroot my phone. I know all of you are saying why unroot? Well I really don't utilize the root at all anymore. I originally did it to change the status bar to black (this is prolly the only thing that I will miss), to be able to downloas Led Hack (I recently uninstalled it and it appears that the leds turn off now in 2.2, I dunno if that was fixed in 2.1), and for wireless and wired tether (pdanet works without rooting and I have never once used the wireless tether other than to they and see if it works. It seems that I have had more problems with rooting then when my phone was unrooted. Yea my phone is faster now bc of OC but unrooted it wasn't that slow anyway and I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I get email notifications all the time even when I do not have a new email and it is really bothering me. So after that rant I was just wondering if there was an easier way to unroot. I tried downloading the rom from rom manager verizon 2.0.1 stock without root odexed and it gave me some error when installing. So if I have to use RSD Lite I will I was jsut wondering if there was an easier way. Also since I will not be rooted anymore is there any other program out there that saves data other than TiBu? I take it I will not be able to restore data with TiBu being unrooted. Don't know if this matters with RSD Lite but right now I am on BB 0.4 using chevy 1g kernal with the most updated baseband of .01P

So my screen, or something else, about my phone died. I'm beginning to think it's not the screen and actually the phone itself (since WaveSecure doesn't seem to be able to remotely lock / alarm the phone), in which case this post is moot. In either case, there is no way to unroot the phone without being able to mount the phone, correct? Since I can't see anything on the screen I obviously can't mount it. I'd rather not try to have them replace a rooted phone though. If the phone is fried, will they be able to detect that it was rooted?

Is there any way to unroot my phone without losing data? i know exactly how to root and get it back to stock, but i realize this deletes all my apps. i know i can just redownload them from the market, but i dont want to go through all the trouble of setting all mynotification settings for like handcent, and locale, and stuff like that. is there update.zip that allows me to go back to nonroote 2.0.1 and have it appear just the way it was before i rooted? (with my apps and all my stuff still on it?)

I've unrooted from Bugless Beast v.4 to a stock 2.1 via How To: Unroot the Motorola Droid | TheUnlockr. So basically I used RSDLite and did the steps listed on that site. I used their .sbf file as well. Everything seems to work except one thing. I cant update or install Facebook, Maps, and Goggles. If you look at the comments in that link, you'll see that a couple of people have the same issue. It says "installation error". "Package file not signed correctly". I unrooted because I need to send my phone in for a replacement and I'm not trying to void my warranty. I've taken the steps to undo the changes from my rooting. What's the best way to check if I've unrooted? I also want to do a factory reset. The only reason I'm hesistant to go with the factory reset is because after rooting the phone, I've uninstalled Blockbuster and AmazonMP3. Those were the only apps that I removed. I have since reinstalled those apks and verify that those are in system/app.

Motorola Droid X : Back Button - Swipe Left To Right On Maybe The Top Bar It Goes Back
I'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently. Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?

first off, let me say "Hi". got my Eris about 3 months ago and been lurking ever since . i've enjoyed reading just about every single page of all the stickied threads -fascinating stuff. you all seem pretty Knowledgeable (OTD, Caddyman, etc) and look forward to reading you thoughts on this. Here's the scenario:i have an Eris and my girlfriend has an EnV2 she will soon be upgrading to the Incredible. she suggested we swap phones once she gets the Inc, since she doesn't really need all that extra fancy stuff -i reluctantly agreed so yesterday, just for kicks, i brought this up to a store tech and she said that wouldn't be a problem, but once the phone comes off the original account it was activated on, the manufacturer voids the 1-year warranty ergo i wouldn't have a warranty on the Inc, nor would she have one on the Eris post swap. does this sound crazy, or is it just me? secondly, would it really be as simple as i imagine? just swapping phones & switching ESN's on our respective accounts once her Inc is activated?

HTC Droid Eris : How To Install Warranty Replacement Handse?
I searched this forum for an hour and couldn't find an answer. I've had my like new warranty replacement phone for two days and it seems to be perfect in every way. No dead pixels, even. The OTA went on as soon as I activated it. I have the 50% bug, of course. My first phone easily and automatically installed on Windows XP SP3 as both a storage device and something like an ''Android USB Composite Device''. This new one will not. Works fine as removable storage, but not the other. Both PDANet and Easy Tether seem to require that. My computer recognizes it only as ''ADB'' and will not install any drivers. I assume I must remove the old phone to install this one, but I can't find it in the device manager or anywhere else.
