How much or how little do these rooted roms affect battery life? I am moving from an Eris to Droid and I like the pinch-zoom feature of the Eris and I know there are some Rooted mods for this feature. just curious if my battery life would get a lot worse then Stock. Now I honestly don't know if I would OC the Droid, I need to use it for a week or 2 first before I decide if I want to Root it.
I rooted my x last night, and was wondering where and how to download custom ROMs to theme my droid x. I've been looking around on websites for custom ROMs for the droid x and it's all really confusing.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what's wrong. I've rooted my phone, 2.2 with Clockworkmod Recovery. I've loaded up my sdcard with .zip files of a few ROMs I'd like to try, go through the whole process of loading up a new ROM, and every single time the phone boots back into the stock ROM. I've had some success with loading up the given ROMs in ROM Manager- but I'm trying to install Smoked Glass 8 or Ultimate Droid, and those are not working.
I am having milestone with android 2.1. purchased it from a retailer with motorola official warranty. Recently the phone gets over heated if i use it to view videos or play music or browse for more than 15 minutes. I can feel the rise of temperature. Is this common problem with milestone?
I loaded about 4 gigs worth of videos (About 160 different clips) onto my 8 gig SD card. When I try to play a video, the video freezes after about 1-2 seconds, but the sound keeps playing. Is there any way to solve this? There's just over 3 gigs of free space on the card.
i have a HTC Evo updated to 2.2, when i go on Facebook using my phone i'm not able to play the video's people post links to, it tries to start the video but then it says: Cannot play video, sorry, this video cannot be played.
Are there limitations on file size, or something. I knew which formats I can use, so that's not an issue. The issue is that when I put an mp4 on my Evo, it will show up as a black screen with only the audio playing. Those were with larger files, approximately 1.6gb, and 2.3gb. I did get a a smaller file (about 20mb) to play, although the audio was off.
I have a couple of MP4 videos that used to play on my HTC Desire before it got its Froyo uodate, that dont appear to be now. When I click on it to play, it comes up Cannot Play Video - Sorry, this video cannot be played. When I look at the details it has Type : Video/mp4 Am I doing something stupidly wrong? Also is there an easy piece of software that can copy DVDs into a format my Desire will understand. I'm after an ease of use rather than cheap bit of software.
I have a Droid2 and downloaded Gameboid Lite. I then downloaded gba_bios.bin, and 2 separate versions of Pokemon Silver roms. gba_bios was selected just fine, but Silver won't run. I noticed you have to put the zipped .zip ROM, so i put both on my SD card and both are giving me the same result.
When I select the game, the screen changes, "Select ROM" at the top turns into "Gameboid Lite", and a notification in the notification area says "Gameboid Lite is running". I'm assuming this is where the game usually starts up and runs, but instead, after about 0.5-1 second, the screen goes back to Select ROM, and nothing happens, even though the notification says "Gameboid Lite is running".
I have no idea why it's not working. I downloaded a separate ROM file to see if it was a bad ROM, but same error with both. Any ideas?
I have just upgraded from an iPhone to the HTC Desire. I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)
When I transfer HTC Desire videos from phone to computer, I can view the video but with no sound. This also happened with my old Touch HD. The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?
All of my old videos from my LG VX8100, Env, and Env touch are all on my SD card...i can watch them, however, there is no sound. on my comp there's sound, and on the old phones there's sound. my eris didn't play the sounds, either.
I have tried to play several H.264 720p video samples on my EVO, and I get sound but no video. Two examples are the Simpsons trailer and the Fantastic Four trailer at H.264 Demo Clips | H264info.com I get no error, and I have tried the Android media player and several others (which are no doubt using the same API's underneath). Is it expected that video will not play for these files? Obviously the phone's screen would not be able to play them in full detail but I didn't expect that it could not play them at all. What is the point of having 720p resolution over HDMI when the phone can't play videos at that resolution? Or is it that it supports some particular type of H.264 and these videos aren't supported? Or is it actually trying to output directly through HDMI and I see nothing since I don't have it hooked up? UPDATE: I trans coded these sample trailers using Handbrake, and even when I end up with a LARGER file size they do play at 720p. But if I use the high quality preset, they do not work even at a low butyrate at 720p. So it's something about the "advanced options" that determines whether the EVO can play it or not.
I'm having problems with my nexus 10. It wont play any videos when I'm running cyanogenmod for android android 4.4. It can't play any videos online or files. I tried another ROM for android 4.4 and it still won't work. It works fine on android 4.3 or any custom Roms for it. I'll include a video for it in the next post.
I've had this problem ever since installed then uninstalled avast and the antitheft bit that sometimes youtube won't play videos. The app shows the videos available and I can search but when you click to play all you get is the spinning circle.
It doesn't happen often and a restart of phone always fixed it before but now that's not working.Cleared cache etc but nothings working. What can cause this and how to sort it?
Its a stock rooted gb rom and only happened when avasts hidden app didn't uninstall after getting superuser rights and I had to freeze the hidden app then uninstall it with titanium backup. It did say (avast) something about doing something to nand.
I have this issue that randomly occurs either after watching so many videos or my phone just being on after so much time that videos will stop playing, the first second of a video will play and then it stops, this occurs for youtube videos or videos locally on my phone. This issue can be resolved by doing a reboot but then will just occur again.
I have a Droid Razr MAXX and it is rooted running liquid smooth.
I am using seek bar to show the progress of the video which I am playing. I am using Media Player / Video View. But when I move the thumb of the seek bar back and forth, the video is not starting correspondingly from the position of the thumb. Anybody has any idea of how to load the video from where the seekbar's thumb is positioned?
I have HTC Desire with Android 2.1 and Windows 7 Premium 32bit. I have created some 3GP videos on the HTC and can play these successfully. When I transfer the file to Windows 7 the playback via Windows Media play doesn't have any sound. Same files playback with volume via iTunes. I'd really like to use these files with Windows Media Player. Is this some sort of codec issue? Why are such task seemingly simple tasks made so difficult?
I'm using the moment with offical 2.1 release. I have it rooted with joey v7 and with live wallpapers. I cannot play youtube videos on the sprint network or on wifi. Everytime without fail I get a message saying "cannot play at this time"
when playing videos the framerate is really poor, and sometimes it just plays the first few seconds of the vid and stops, but the audio continues. So, basically my question is, what are the best ideals for a video to play on the hero
Resolution? File format? Audio quality? Vid Quality? Framerate? et
Maybe i'm not really seeing anything that stick out to me but could someone please give me an answer.
Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?
