Motorola Droid :: Unable To Send MMS Via Google Voice
Mar 29, 2010
I haven't used my google voice number for much more than calling but recently I have used it for texting and cannot figure out how to send pictures. The only way I have seen to add them is through the email that the text generates but it won't allow me to choose a picture it says choose one but none are available and the "pick" button does not work.any suggestions?.BTW running the newest bugless beast and also had the problem on the newest smoked glass ROM.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.
I have had Google voice for a while now. And yesterday I added a line into my plan and got the Droid. I downloaded Google voice app and everytime I try to place a call it tells me I am unable to make the call. I did set my new number as the phone being used. Any suggestions? Or is there something up with Google voice?
I can't make calls using google voice. What happens is I will dial a number and press send, then something will pop up asking me if I want to make the call with GV or without GV. I choose WITH GV and it will start out okay, but after 5 seconds it goes back to the normal call screen and calls regularly with out GV. Is there anyone who can help me out with this? I have a droid eris.
I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)
The native app seemed a little buggy with my att.net accounts so I installed K9 after reading through the forums. I was unable to send email through the native app, and it seems I can't send email with K9 either. This is with att.net as well as another server which synced well (folders and all) on the native app.
My issue is that I am unable to send mail using an email account on my web domain - I get a generic message that states something similar to the email is unable to be sent. I was previously able to email on my old Blackberry using the same account, so I would think it'd be possible on the Droid X. I have tried all ports I saw suggested in the forums on my web host's site but none of the three I tried work for me. I am able to receive mail without any problems and my web host confirmed the below settings should be correct. I know for certain that the user name requires the full email address, rather than just the user name portion. Please see below and let me know what I need to change to get this working. Thanks in advance for your help. SMTP server: mail.redszone.com Port: 25 Username: (myemaillogin)@redszone.com Password: (my email password) Use secure connection: unchecked Verify certificate: unchecked
I am unable to send or receive/download MMS messages on my droid with neither Handcent nor factory installed messaging program. When i try to send/ download MMS, it just hangs (little icon keeps going in circles like it's working but never finishes, nor are the messages sent). It's not reception. It's not impatience ( it's been hanging for days sometimes).
What could be happening when you get that message after you hit "send". WiFi or 3G is at full strength, so I don't think it's a connectivity issue. It's happened a few times over the last few days. A little red envelope appears with something that looks like a timer. Message eventually sends, but several minutes later.
I have Verizon and I just got the new DX.I can make and receive calls, make and receive emails, access internet/market and everything except for send/receive text messages.I have unlimited texting on my plan so it's not that, all texts refuse to be sent and I'm not getting any incoming messages either.anyone else get this? What's a fix?
I have looked and looked for a solution to this problem and have not found one. I see others are having the same problem though.I have the Droid X I am using the messaging that the phone came with not an added app (I am on Verizon). When I try to reply to a text from my husband I get a message saying "unable to deliver. Please re-send with area code". He is in my address book with an area code and the callback number has the area code. But next to his name it does not have the area code (again, it is entered in my phone with an area code). I have tried to delete his phone number, text my phone with his phone, and reply, but that still does not work. It is so frustrating and weird. Even when I do not have him in the address book the call back number (shown as cb#) has the area code, but up higher when his name would be does not have the area code.
We were talking about this the other day and it has happen to me a few times today and has pissed me off so I got on with moto chat. they want to replace the phone for this. Not sure that I want to go this route as I just don't think thats the issue.Denise C: Hi, my name is Denise C. How may I help you? Nicholas : hey about twice a day my droid will refuse to send email/sms/mms unless I restart it, once restarted it kicks the messages right out Nicholas : I've even tried disconnecting/reconnecting to the wireless enter and exit airplane mode, only thing that will get it working again is to restart it Denise C: I am sorry to hear that. I will be more than glad to assist you. Nicholas : I'm inside my 30 days but didn't know if I should contact you guys or verizon Denise C: Have you tried taking the battery out and put it back in to check if it was doing the same thing after that? Nicholas : tried that yesterday Nicholas : same effect as restarting, works for a few hours then I run into the issue again.
I had my number ported to Google Voice and have been using it to make and receive calls for the past two weeks. I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?
Today i tried to do something that i used to do back in my Alias 2 days (regular cellphone), but couldn't.
Can i record a simple voice message and send it via MMS? It was pretty simple to do with a cell phone... I saw that the eris comes with a voice recorder, but i recorded a message and was not able to send it. Any ideas?
Also, when sending pictures via MMS, it always resizes them and obviously the person receiving doesn't get the same quality. I realize that sending via Gmail doesn't resize, but i send to other cell phones a lot. I'm thinking the only fix is lowering the camera resolution? I think that lowering the resolution is still better than having it resized for the message. Has anyone tried lowering the resolution to a point that the picture does not need to be resized for MMS?
Same thing for Video messages.. can't even send them. Not sure if it's HAndcent, or the file is just to big
I finally got GV visual voicemail working using my carrier number as my GV number. it took 2 days of frustration.now, from what I understand, i should be able to use GV to send text/SMS messages.is that true?when i launch GV app, i don't have any options to compose messages. how is that supposed to work?
I just got my first android phone and set everything up last week. i now have groups and stuff in my gmail/google voice contacts that arent on my phone (used vzw backup to oginally get contacts on my phone) i would like to now update the contacts on my phone to match the ones in gmail and good voice....everytime i go to update contacts it uses the vzw thing....is there a way on gmail or google voice to send contacts to my phone?
I have Google Voice Account. I had installed Google voice on Nexus 4.Recently, I reset my device and tried to download the Google Voice App from Play Store. It does not give me any option to download it since I am not in USA right now.How i can download it from Play Store While abroad ?
On my new Android phone I setup my Google Voice number and set it as my primary number to use on the phone. I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -
Dear, I have tried to purchase some products from a business company, I have attracted by high quality products, low price and enthusiastic services, I think if you are free, you can go to see: styleele.com, picking your interesting <<followed by a link here>> I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
I've been using Google Voice on my Env Touch for about a year now but only mainly for the sms transcriptions as the Env Touch doesn't have an app for it.
So, here's my main problem. All of my contacts are just in my phone. I don't have anyone's email address as all I do mainly is txt people or send them a message on facebook. I'm wanting to add all of my contacts to my gmail account so when I get my Incredible everything will be there. Right now my sms from GV just has the number and I actually don't know any of my friends numbers, they're just in my phone. *yes, technology can be a sort of burden at times* So I don't have a clue who the voicemail is from until I call into it. Is there any easy way of porting all these contacts from either my phone, backup assistant, or facebook? Also, do android phones take your contacts and your facebook and merge them into your gmail account?
I am in the process of purchasing my first android phone. I currently have a google voice number/account. I would like MMS and simple number support for messaging. From my understanding google voice does not support that. I did read about an application called iTim for the iphone which allows you to use MMS through google voice. Is there any such product for the Android? Having SMS/texting through google voice would save $30/month on my cell phone bill, so it's kind of a big deal.
Since my update on my Motorola Droid I have not been able to use my google voice(strange I know)...I tried to look up any other postings on this but couldnt find any...I even tried to uninstall and re-install and i keep getting the same message that "my phone number could not be verified".
