Motorola Droid :: Unable To Find Google Voice Or Google Maps In Market
Oct 19, 2010
I'm running Cyanogenmod 6. I just noticed that I can't find Google voice or Google maps in the market. I do have the apps installed, but can't see them int he market to get updates. I tried out LFY1.7 and Ultimate Droid 1.0.0, and see the same issue.
I updated the firmware on my HTC Hero some time ago from Modaco to Firmware 1.5.I just got an N1, so I restored the Hero to give to my wife, and the next thing I noticed is there was no Google Maps. I went in to the Market and again...I couldn't even pull it in a search even though I pulled it in searches on my N1. Does anyone know what's up here? Do I need to upgrade my firmware? If so, does anyone have a link to the install?
I have google map 4.4 on my HTC Evo 4g but i cant find it in the android market searching for maps, google maps, maps google, etc. i realize i have the new version and it shouldnt matter but i dont understand why it wont come up in a search. i have other apps that i have installed that still show up in search.
This has been posted under the sprint htc hero forum, however i know there are much more people posting here that can help with this problem. Maps works fine, but when I open the app a pop up shows "unable to load the url", its pretty annoying. How can I get rid of this....clearing the cache and defaults did nothing.
I had recently read about an amazing new Car Dock app pushed out by Google, but when I searched for it on the Android Market, it was nowhere to be found. I then attempted to download it from the web, but all links took me back to the market, where I would receive a 'file not found' message.Did Google remove this app for some reason?
I haven't used my google voice number for much more than calling but recently I have used it for texting and cannot figure out how to send pictures. The only way I have seen to add them is through the email that the text generates but it won't allow me to choose a picture it says choose one but none are available and the "pick" button does not work.any suggestions?.BTW running the newest bugless beast and also had the problem on the newest smoked glass ROM.
I have had Google voice for a while now. And yesterday I added a line into my plan and got the Droid. I downloaded Google voice app and everytime I try to place a call it tells me I am unable to make the call. I did set my new number as the phone being used. Any suggestions? Or is there something up with Google voice?
I can't make calls using google voice. What happens is I will dial a number and press send, then something will pop up asking me if I want to make the call with GV or without GV. I choose WITH GV and it will start out okay, but after 5 seconds it goes back to the normal call screen and calls regularly with out GV. Is there anyone who can help me out with this? I have a droid eris.
Is there a different voice synthesiser that can be used for google maps navigation? To start with her mispronunciations and bizarre inflections were a source of amusement but now it is doing everyone's head in. I think I'd rather have Stephen Hawking than this deranged ladybot.
The new GOOGLE MAPS? How do you actually use the voice search? I can't seem to get it to work on the Magic or find the option for it. The other thing as well I dont understand the lack of a Compass? No Orientation of Google Maps they did it with the new Iphone why not with Android?? we have a Compass.Bad Google! did they only give the USA the Search VIA Voice? Other then the 2 points I listed this app is great!
Google Maps looks like a good alternative to naviguate using my HTC Desire's GPS. The fact is that I would like my route to be explained in some vocal way (better for driving, isn't it?).I already have Speaking Pad from `IDEAL Group, Inc.' installed. This application lets me type some text and let the HTC Desire litteraly `say' (pronounce) it. Thus, I already have the good vocal libraries, and I do not understand why I do not have the speaking ability in my Google Maps.
I have installed this and it works fine though a little laggy. If you want to give it a go you'll need to find Speech Synthesis Data Installer in market and install Then you'll ned to download the app from here and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630887 it wont let me log in to latitude but I dont use it anyway
Is there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other. Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!
I have had my Desire for about 3 weeks got it over the Iphone and I am so happy I did. One question I have is with Google maps I see that you can voice search I was wondering if you need to get an app for this or does the latest version of Google maps come with the phone. I love the options I have but still can not find how to use the speech options?
I have a Telus HTC Hero and for a few weeks now my GPS simply stopped working with google-maps. It keeps saying "can't find location". If I use Gps Status app, it shows a compass and shows how fast I'm moving in what ever direction, but for some reason google maps can't seem to lock on. I've tried hard and soft resets, turning triangulation on off, GPS on off.
Is it possible to get google maps to find directions for local bus routes? I know my local bus organization uses google for bus directions, and I can access it through the browser, but I'm wondering if there's a way to do it through the Maps application.
I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)
I noticed a few mentioning that they have voice turn by turn navigation with Google maps. I don't have the voice with my Google maps. Do I have to download an app for that or activate something for that to work?
