Has anyone noticed the difference from the Droid Incredibles contact search and the Droid X's search. I loved the way the DInc searches for the names. I just upgraded to the DX and that is one issue I'm not too found of. Does anyone have any ideas how or what app could install for searching all your contacts like the DInc does? You just type (on the dialer) the persons name or number and it comes up with the names in a listView 3 Replies View Related
Is it possible for the Droid to sync with a outlook calendar and not outlook email?View 6 Replies View Related
I am trying to use my new Droid to connect to our Exchange 2003 email. I can access it just fine when I am on the companies Wi-Fi (both OWA and Active sync), but when I try to connect from the internet, I cannot see either. Odd thing is that if I use Opera Mini 5 Beta on my Droid, I can connect to OWA, but the default browser wont allow it. My Iphone is working fine on both networks, so I know the system is working properly.View 2 Replies View Related
A few months ago, I started a thread regarding the problem that VZW and Motorola both identified as a problem with MS Exchange Server 2003 and 2007 not sync'ing right away.
Corporate Outlook/Exchange Sync - Push
I called and spoke with a tech at Motorola and said with the next OTA for the Droid 2 (which just happened) it was supposed to fix it, however it didn't. Does anyone on the inside have any insight as to what's going on? I'm back to using Improved Email for instant push delivery of my Exchange messages.
I did get the OTA the other day, and the version number did change, but nothing of significance.
Really starting to get pissed with this phone with I mostly use it for my job and e-mail. I shouldn't have to rely on a third party application for delivery of my e-mail. G-Mail works fine, but Exchange works about 5% of the time without me having to go in a do a manual refresh...then 10-20 messages pop up.
Fresh install and no longer rooted.
For people who want a fully automatic way to keep both Calendar & Contacts sync'd both ways between Outlook and Google Gmail / Calendar.
I've already done a lot of research on this topic as it is currently the most important item I've got to have working in order to keep the Droid. It seems like nobody really has a great solution yet, but there are some in the works. This thread can serve as a master list for Outlook sync software.
Here is what I've found so far:
CompanionLink $40 (released, sounds like the best currently available): Sync Microsoft Outlook with your Google account and your phone | CompanionLink
Missing-Sync $40(update: Released. Calendar syncing is now supported, but requires additional app installed on phone.): Keep your life in sync with The Missing Sync for Android from Mark/Space Appears to be the best all-in-one solution for syncing Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Docs, Media and more. Includes 'Proximity Sync' - syncs wirelessly & automatically w/ your computer.
gSyncit $15 (released, but lots of problems reported by users. EDIT: Some favorable reviews in this thread, may have improved reliability): http://www.daveswebsite.com/software/gsync/
SyncMyCal $25 (released): Share Outlook Calendar Free, Google Calendar Sync, Pocket Outlook Google Sync - SyncMyCal
Anybody using this?
OGG Sync $30/yr (Not yet released): OggSync - Sync Google Calendar and Contacts with Outlook and Windows Mobile Device Sync (including Microsoft Office) Blog Archive Real... Native... Google Contact Sync — OggSync 4.0
Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook $50/yr (Requires Google Apps Premier or EDU Edition):[url]
Are there any good free apps out there that can sync Contacts? Tell me and I'll add them to the list.
Ideally I would lie my work meetings to pop-up in the calendar on my droid.I cannot install google calendar at work thanks to a picky IT department. So, what I have done, is forward my emails/appointments to a secondary gmail i created for work use, that i can then sync on my personal laptop.my problem is that, my phone was setup using my primary(personal)gmail and the calendar program will not let you add a different email other than the one they setup for me when i created the phone.how can I change the primary email on my phone to the one i set up for work so I can sync that one with the calendar.View 1 Replies View Related
I just got my D2 the other day and have it all setup, but something I've noticed differently from the D1 is that all my Outlook/Exchange e-mails take 5-10 minutes to be delivered even with the Push feature turned on. On the Droid 1, the messages were delivered instantly ometimes even before they arrived in my Outlook client at my desk.
I have it setup as a Corporate Sync account with all the same settings, but I feel like they have taken a step backwards with the Corporate Sync settings. I'm running 2.2.20 (rooted of course), but it's just a hit or miss when the messages come in. I did call VZW's tech line and the lady on the phone said there was some memo about this issue. She didn't mention if there was a work around, or if a fix is coming. It's almost as if the Sync button doesn't do anything.
Is there someway for me to forward my outlook calendar through Google to sync with the droid calendar my work wont let me exchange or install the droid to my computer for privacy reasons, but i can automatically forward my emails and everything to an external account. if i setup a new gmail for my work, can i set that calendar up to worth with my droid.View 2 Replies View Related
I am thinking about buying a Droid but I need to sync Outlook contacts and calender easily. I mean easily as I do now with my blackberry curve. Does anyone know the answer?View 6 Replies View Related
I am new to the andriod thing and just recently obtained the Moto Droid. I am desperately trying to figure out a way to sync my outlook (non exchange - yahoo) account with it.
I have searched the threads an unable to find any answers thus far. I have already looked into Compainion, gschink (sp) which continuely lost #'s, contact names and company names (thank god I had other back-ups), and MyLink. I understand that if you have an Google account this works some what in a way and I have also used a few online exchanges but they all just don't "SYNC" all information. I am coming from a BB and I understand that the Droid is not a BB but I really like so many of the other features that if I could just get this machine to sync in a business manner I would keep it! I am coming close to my 30 days and have to either get this to sync or put it in the box and return.
I came across this site www.hyperoffice.com and because I am not so familiar with the android os I'm not sure if this is a solution or not. I am asking the vets here if this is something that could be mine and so many others answer to the full features of syncing?
Why Moto wont offer a simple sync program is beyond me.
Anyhow, I am using Outlook 2007 (non-Exchange) with my company email and Cals. I was wondering if there is a DIFFERENT method for transferring my items from the PC to the DX that anybody has had luck with.
1. Not interested in syncing from Outlook to Google to the phone. PITA.
2. CompanionLink Pro @ $139... wow, you would think it works but it doesn't (and yes, I am transferring in Charge Only mode as described).
3. Their support is close to the worst in the industry. I have now emailed them twice in the last week with zero response.
4. Sometimes the sync works. Sometimes not. Today is a not day. Synced four times and nothing. I have even purged phone contacts and cals to start over. Not working.
Is there any way to sync my outlook tasks to my gtasks or my phone? I am a full-time student and last semester i used gtasks to enter all of my assignments and then used purecalendar to check them off but i could not get them on outlook. i would like to be able to enter them in outlook and be able to check them off the same way in either place.View 1 Replies View Related
i want to maintain one contact list between my phone and outlook2007. I have it set up now where the contacts sync from outlook to the phone (so if i add a contact to outlook and then connect my phone to the comp with a usb cable, the added contact automatically shows up on the phone).I would like it to work in reverse also, i want to be able to add a contact to the phone and have it automatically showup in outlook when i connect with a usb cable.is there an easy way to do this?View 3 Replies View Related
I just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail. However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.
Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.

my phone is syncing to google calendar just fine. Im having sync issues between my outlook on my PC and the google calendar. I'm using goog calendar sync and it doesnt seem to wan to sync ALL apts. It seemed to work fine at first but now I can try to force a sync and there are a few entries on my outlook for next week that it just wont sync. But if I put a new dummy entry in to test it seems to sync. It's sporadic.Any suggestions? This is the only solution I can use as HTC sync does not work for me.Plus I like the fact that it's 2 way and it happens automatically..no direct connection required.View 2 Replies View Related
Has anyone else noticed that an Outlook contact that has a birthday or anniversary date stored within the details, when sync'd to the phone is imported with 1 or 2 days earlier? For example my parents anniversary is stored in Outlook as June 4, 19xx and Outlook adds this to my calendar automatically. After syncing with my Droid Eris the Eris calendar item shows June 3rd. Then when I sync again it shows up in the Outlook calendar on the 3rd and the 4th. This has been going on for quite a while maybe since my 1st sync.View 2 Replies View Related
I finally got my work email sync'd on my Android phone (Outlook). However, all my annoying meetings from work are now popping up as "notifications" in my phone's status bar. I can't stand corporate meetings, which are a colossal waster of time, and i don't want to be reminded of all the meetings on my work schedule. I was able to successfully turn of the Outlook mail notifications on my phone (and I still get Gmail notifications, since they are two separate email systems, which is exactly what I want). How do I turn my "Outlook calendar reminders," but still be reminded of my Google Calendar reminders, which is my personal, and far more important, calendar?View 2 Replies View Related

Hey Android experts -
First off, First Time poster, and long time lurker.
I am thinking about getting the moto droid, and I heard that you can sign into your gmail account and sync all your contacts, but I have a question.
What if I don't want my Gmail contacts to be syncd with the device, but I want to be able to check my gmail accounts, is that possible?
The reason that I am asking is because I have numerous, like 10s of thousand contacts, and I don't want them all on the phone.

So I've seen the new facebook app and I think I would rather use that than the moto integration. My problem is that I like having FB populate my contacts and being able to see statuses when people call me. Is there a way to get those two features and not duplicate efforts on the X? I don't want to add too many more things to sync for the sake of battery. If not do you guys just have the X sync with FB and also have the app for when you want to delve further into it?View 2 Replies View Related
I've been testing the Moto Droid and the Droid Eris and there are some pretty big shortcomings on both IMO. The Exchange support on the Eris is working much better for me than the built in 2.0 App on the Moto Droid. Does anyone know what App HTC is using for this and if there is any way to get it on the Moto Droid? I also like the mail widget that HTC has supplied. If it wasn't for the pitiful battery life one the Eris I would just stick with it.View 1 Replies View Related

I updated this morning, but after the update it stuck at the 'Motorola' symbol after the reboot. I had to reboot the phone 5 times to get it work and it was fine; however, i just installed flash and have rebooted 5 times and the phone screen is still stuck at the Motorola symbol upon restart. I can hear emails coming in and i can turn the screen on and off but no go. Looks like I am going to Verizon.View 18 Replies View Related

So I followed the droid-life.com method to get SPRecovery on my stock 2.1 droid.
Everything went fine, I had SPRecovery and I was going to try to get root access using this ESE81update.zip created by pete and following this method...

Any idea if this could cause battery issues? I usually drive my car every day but I've never had anything like this stupid charger with a light that is PERMANENTLY on. My cigarette lighter port is powered 100% of the time, even when the car is turned off, locked, etc.
This also seems like a theft issue to me... it's just a stupid charger but that won't stop them from thinking "OMG SHINY BLUE LIGHT, MUST BE FANCY STUFF INSIDE!!!"
Any way to turn it off other than breaking it?
I rooted my Droid today for the first time. The first time it turned on after installing the new ROM it kept resetting after the MOTO icon would come up.It was doing this for quite a while and I kept removing the battery and powering off and on and then finally it started up.Phone was running great after that and was OCing at 800.Used it for about 5 hours like this. Then I went to set up OC profiles and hit refresh and now the phone keeps resetting at Moto icon again and hasn't turned back on.Is there something I can do to fix this?View 4 Replies View Related
I bought 2 spare BP6X batteris and a Motorola OEM P323 Charger for my Droid. Does anyone know why my Droid says the battery is fully charged, 100% (with cord attached), then if I put it in the charger the red light stays on and it charges for another 30 minutes? The app battery status pro (new) also shows a higher voltage when said battery is re-inserted into the phone.View 2 Replies View Related
SO the first time I rooted and the first update I did gave me some problems. When the phone rebooted after the flash the Moto symbol would come up and not go any further. Either that or the symbol would show up and then the phone would reset after five seconds. So I did a few battery pulls and finally got it to work after a while. Ever since the 2.0.4 update I cannot get the phone past the Moto screen. I've tried about 12 times between that and 2.0.5 and I have to keep restoring back to my original settings before I flashed any of the ROMs. Anyone know why this is happening? I loved my phone so much more when I had the Smoked Glass 2.1 ROM and OC.View 14 Replies View Related

I've searched the forums and looked at the Sticky above, but it doesn't seem to answer the question. We have one staff member here that bought a Droid Eris (Verizon) and unlike the Motorola Droid, I can't get this phone setup via Active Sync to our exchange server. I setup his account on my phone (M Droid) and it worked perfectly...messages, contacts and calendar all synced up fine. I go back to his Eris, and it says the account cannot be created at this time. All the settings are the same etc., so I'm a little stumped. I called Verizon and they said to wait for the new 2.0 upgrade that's supposed to be coming, but they weren't sure if that had been addressed or not. Am I missing something, or does the HTC Droid Eris not fully work with Active Sync with MS Exchange 2003?View 18 Replies View Related
