Motorola Droid :: Some Apps Not Ending

Jul 16, 2010

i noticed that ever since i rooted and using froyo 2.2 ( BB) i am unable to end certain apps, to be specific apps market and internet explorer. i used advance task killer manager, and other task killing apps and they just wont end. i mean its not a big deal, but it gets annoying that everytime i open the browser it brings me back to the page i was last on and not my homepage, or when i launch the market place, im left at the last app i was looking at instead of the main page. was froyo designed like this? cause i know it wasnt like this before i was rooted.

HTC EVO 4G :: Never Ending Restore

Sep 25, 2010

My phone started doing some weird force closes and just not acting right, so I am trying to do a nand restore. I have done these in the past with no problem, but it is currently restoring and has made about 25 lines of dots in the restore.Normally it will only do 5 or 6 lines of dots before the restore is complete; is this still normal. The screen is getting close to 2/3s covered in dots at this point and it's starting to worry me that it will never end.Should I pull the battery or is that not a good idea while its restoring. Thanks for any advice you may have I'm really stumped on this one.

HTC Incredible :: Incredibly Bad Ending

Oct 3, 2010

So my beloved Incredible has met it's maker thanks to a 10'+ fall from a ladder when I went to answer a call (stupid move, I know). Click image below for larger view.I went in to VZW, made a claim to Asurion and used one of my available upgrades on another line to get a Samsung Fascinate. I must say, the SAMOLED screen doesn't disappoint. The 4" screen size is the sweet spot for sure. The Incredible is better out of the box with Sense, but the Fascinate is better after a few add ons like Launcher Pro, Beautiful widgets and Handcent (which can all be used on the inc, I know).I'll decide if I'm going to keep the Fascinate or the the Inc in a few weeks I guess. (I'll sell the other)

Does the screen always wake back up when you finish a call and take the phone away from your head? General :: Phone Turning Itself Off And On - Continuous Never Ending Cycle

Dec 9, 2013

My phone is acting really strange. It turns itself off and then on again and again in this cycle as if the power button is always being pressed.

I can sometimes get into my recovery (CWM) but when I try to go deeper into the menu. I get kicked back to the main screen as if im pressing the power button to go "back" until the phone gets completely turned off again.

I noticed something too. When I pull out the battery and put it back on. The phone turns itself on without me even pressing the power button. Then the cycle continues again.

Could this be software, ROM, recovery, partition related or does this sound something hardware related?

General :: Android Phone Does Not Respond After Ending Call

May 1, 2012

I am using commitva z71 category phone. (motorola quench xt3 xt502).

I had been using cyanogenmod roms on it. presently i have CM 7.1 EAV 7.2. The roms usually came with ADW launcher as default. But one problem I have been facing is that some times my phone does not respond to press of any button, not even power button after ending a call. The screen however goes off and does not light up.

I have to either remove the battery, replace it and restart or I have to make a call to my phone from another phone. When I give a missed call, the phone gets activated. But when I press Menu button, it brings up the keyboard instead of Menu.

This problem has been persisting whichever version of CM Rom I have been using.

The problem aggravates when I use Go Launcher as my default launcher by using Launcher Switcher. When I use ADW as default lanucher but have Go Launcher also on my phone, sometimes the defaults are cleared and I am asked to choose the launcher to finish the task of closing phone app.

Initially, I thought this was the problem of default phone app. So I tried dialer one from play store, but to no avail.

Is there a way to delete the ADW launcher that comes with the custom ROM?

Motorola Droid : Android Apps Vs IPhone Apps

Nov 16, 2009

I know the "cool kid in school" thing to do is make fun of the iPhone market for having 1,000's of 'Fart apps'

But let's be honest at the end of the day it's really not true, and now coming from being a previous iPhone owner and now a Droid owner i can honestly say, the iPhone app market wins by a TON.

This is just a general QUALITY of apps comparison as well.

NO i'm not switching back... but man do i miss the iPhone apps...

Especially facebook.. and others..

You can REALLY tell the difference between the quality of iPhone apps vs Android,

So why am i starting this thread?.. Well i'm hoping maybe a developer could chime in and enlighten us on why this is...

Things i'm curious about-

Is programming in android worse then in the iPhone OS? is that why apps are WAY less in quality?

And you can't give the excuse that it's because things are new, when the iPhone market came out the apps were quality at day 1, many of them were.

So what's the difference? i guess software...

Well i'm sticking with android even though this exists.. in hopes that maybe future Android OS updates and SDK's will improve this very obvious difference.. right now i'm not impressed at all... the apps are all Slow, and they look horrible.

And for twitter? holy crap... iPhone owners back me up here, but the iPhone twitter apps are lightyears ahead of android twitter apps.

Just take a look at Tweetdeck for iPhone, and compare to to what i guess is the best android twitter app, twidroid?

Compare those and you'll see what i'm talking about.

HTC EVO 4G :: Random Stuff / Applications Ending / Screen Changing / Lock Ups

Jun 10, 2010

So far, I love the Evo, but I am having three problems with it. And they are getting annoying. First off, some applications will randomly terminate. It started out being regular downloaded applications that would just end. Whatever, it was bearable albeit annoying. But now, sometimes important applications like "Touch Screen" (I don't think that's the exact name) are starting to terminate randomly. That made it so that I couldn't text (rebooting the phone restarted the application). Two, I seem to manage to accidentally press the screen in a random place just about once per minute when I'm holding the phone. It's getting to the point where I feel like it's starting to push random buttons when I just press the sides of the phone. I don't know, it's tough to describe. Also, there seems to be some other shortcut screen that pops up every so often. It's a small box in the middle of the screen that shows my six most recently used apps. I have no idea why it pops up, or how, but I would actually like to use it if I could figure out how to do it.

Three, lastly, it seems to lock up a lot. It just freezes, just like a computer would. It's probably done this about ten times now.So is anyone else having any problems like this? It's starting to get very annoying. Big blemishes for such an amazing phone... it makes me sad to think this has so many interfering problems.

Motorola Droid :: Shortcuts Menus To Apps In Droid?

Nov 12, 2009

I have A LOT of apps on my Droid. Way too many, but that's a subject for another day. Getting to them on the default menu is impossible, its WAY to much scrolling. My home screen space is very limited - the left side is a full screen calendar, and the right side is a nearly full screen task list. The main home screen loses some space to a clock widget, so I end up with only a 4x3 space on my center screen to work with. Given all of the apps I have and all of the functions they do, this doesn't work. I need direct & instant access to at least a dozen things on the home screen, Plus much more a few clicks away. I have thus far found TWO decently sound organizational options for my Droid, but neither quite do it for me. Hopefully you guys know of another one that I have not yet found.Folders on the home screen. Put things in folders.Problems: Despite ability to name folders, Grey folders all look the same, making it harder to quickly grab the one you want when there is a screen full of them.impossible to nest folders (this feature alone would solve my problems)Folders don't auto close, pressing the home button takes you back to the home screen with the folder still open (yet one more button to hit to close it).Great app on the marketplace called "Apps Organizer"Pros:makes a list of all your apps, then lets you assign label(s) to them (like gmail). Then you can create shortcuts on your home screen to a specific label.Lets you select a unique Icon for each label.

Problems:When you click on the shortcut to open up that category, the tray of Icons is TINY. Significantly smaller than normal. This makes reading text labels of the apps "legible", but only with good eyesight. No nesting. No shortcuts to gmail labels, direct dial, direct messaging. So those groups of icons all have to go in the folders the plain grey indistinguishable folders.Temporary workaround:Create a folder for gmail labels, direct messaging and calling "folders" on the home screen.create 1 "reorganized" apps menu folder on the home screen that would link to ALL the apps, organized by labels into 6-8 categories. No more endless scrolling for the "occasional use" app.Create half a dozen labels for HIGH use applications and place those on the home screen for direct access to those categories.None of the options presented REALLY get the job done. grey indistinguishable folders remain, I still have to launch everything out of the TINY icons and text used by Apps Organizer, direct message, email, calling, labels still needs some work. Any suggestions? Am I missing any options in the above, or other ideas that would enhance this spit and duct tape organizational system?
