Motorola Droid :: How to Enable JIT in Froyo 2.2 ROM?

Motorola Droid X :: Enable Froyo's Built-in WiFi/USB Tethering

Aug 23, 2010

Can it be done? Obviously Verizon and Motorola have disabled it because they want us to pay $20/month for the Verizon app. Yeah, sure Verizon. Anyways, if it requires a custom ROM to enable, then we're SOL until someone breaks the bootloader encryption or we have to use the free WiFi Tether for Root Users app which only supports Ad-hoc mode and WEP encryption, which basically is the same as no encryption really.

Motorola Droid X :: Disable Nuance And Enable Froyo Bluetooth VAD

Aug 20, 2010

I know Motorola loaded Nuance's VAD application since they decided to launch with 2.1 vs 2.2, however, how that 2.2 is out, how do we get rid of it? The Nuance app is barely functional at best, and is far surpassed by the quality/features of the Froyo voice app, which from what I remember, supports Bluetooth now. So how do we get it off of there?

But I was told Froyo still gives "invalid" package. So is there anything else I need to do?

Nexus :: Any Data Enable / Disable Widget For Froyo?

Jun 5, 2010

As Nexus One is the only model which has already "partly" updated to Froyo,Before Froyo, if I wanna enable/disable mobile data usage, I used a passive way, changing the APN server setting, to fool the system so it couldn't connect. In Froyo, there is a new option under Setings -> Wireless & Network Settings -> Mobile Networks called Data enabled/disabled, which is a much direct approach than changing the APN.But up to today, I've yet to see a widget which targets at this option. Currently I hv made a 3G shortcut to that setting page on to my home screen. Really hope there will be a toggle widget instead! So how do u guys enable/disable data usage at the moment without a handy widget on Froyo?

Motorola Droid :: How To Enable JIT And Get It Running?

Mar 5, 2010

Can anyone who has used JIT before give me a link to how I should enable it (I know Fabulous uses it but I don't know who else)? I tried searching for JIT in this forum and got nothing. All droid didn't seem to help much more. It seems like there's really little to no documentation on how to get this running. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I assume that it's still not too stable, so I should probably take a Nandroid backup first, right?

Motorola Droid :: Any Way To Enable XT9 Input?

Nov 7, 2009

I got the Eris-I love the phone, but I may want a keyboard in a smart phone. However, I want to be able to text like I used to on older phomes-with one thumb. The Eris allows people to change to XT9 input, something I really like. I tried to find something similar on the Motorola Droid and couldn't find any place to change it. Is this option available on the Motorola phone? If I can't change it, that makes two things which bother me about the Motorola phone-the inability to NOT get the mobile versions of web pages as the default and now this texting issue.

Motorola Droid :: Easy Update.zip To Enable JIT

Mar 8, 2010

Pete's released an update.zip that will flash the proper files and changes to build.prop to enable JIT.

You should see about a 12-16% increase in linpack scores. Overall system performance should be boosted too. Whether it's noticeable or not depends on the user, I guess.

I've tested this on his BB 0.7. This will probably work for other ROMs too, but it flashes the BB 0.7 build.prop, so your build number will change if you're using a different ROM.

Here's the link:
http://bit.ly/cNAjZs

Be sure to make a backup before you do this so you can revert if you run into any instabilities. However, in my testing, the newer ESE53 ROMs are pretty stable with JIT.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Enable And Find MAC Address On Phone

Oct 17, 2010

I searched through another thread and it wasn't specified, but I have the Droid2 and want to connect to the home wifi router, but don't know my phone's MAC address as this is the setting of the router to make it more efficient for gaming.

I have already gone to the settings page under wifi and 'advanced' but it has a MAC ADDRESS listing, but won't let me select it saying it is unavailable.

1. How can I enable and find out my MAC Address
2. While I'm at it although I have not been on the forums in a few weeks and admit this is a lazy ploy at help, has a one click or 'user-friendly' root come for Droid2 that doesn't require me to read pages of a thread and go through 100 steps!?

Motorola Droid :: Enable Contact Picture When Using Voice Search?

Jan 1, 2010

The majority of my contacts have pictures associated with them. When I use Google Voice Search to call a contact (e.g. "Call Wendy Home" [my wife]), the contact is found and the number is dialed successfully, but the picture doesn't show on the screen (just the android image). However, if I look her up in contacts and make the call, or receive a call from her number, the contact image is displayed. Is there a setting that needs to be made to enable the contact picture when using voice search?

Motorola Droid :: Installing Settings As System Application Enable GPS Toggle?

Mar 5, 2010

I'm a big fan of Toggle Settings but my one wish would be that it could toggle GPS. From what I understand, the security of Android doesn't allow any app to turn GPS on/off. My question is, since installing Mobile Defense as a system application allows it to turn my GPS on, would installing Toggle Settings as a system app enable the same feature? Does anybody know of a way around this or another app that is similar and can toggle GPS settings?

Motorola Droid X :: Turn Auto Sync Off - Application Enable Push Email For Gmail Account

Jul 30, 2010

I have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.

With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
