I have tried this on 4 Different Roms (Smoked Glass 4, 5, 6 and Nextheme 0.9) And no matter what I do, if I use a custom sound for notifications, the phone upon restart will boot loop indefinitely, and the only way I can make it stop is to VERY quickly slide the mute left so the phone is muted the next time it boots, then it stops, or if I cant get that to work, I have to restore from a nandroid backup. I have the files on my sd card in /media/audio/notifications All lower case (but have tried with a cap) The only things that hasnt changed, is that I have only tried mp3 files. But I also tried, by using the Zedge Ringtones App to the same effect. Whats the deal? Any Ideas?
Currently running Nextheme 0.9 ESE81 R3
Edit: Also worth note as it may help, its only notifications that causes this issue, custom ringtones and alarms are fine. Even using the same short (8 second) Mp3 as a ringtone causes no issue. And the mp3 plays in the list of notifications when you select it, as it should. The only thing i can think of is possibly that the phones mp3 decoder loads after the boot up sound? Is that even logical?
I was attempting to flash a ROM for the first time. my droid is rooted, I thought I was doing everything right, obviously not. I was using clockwork to flash it. I have titanium backup, and I had it clockwork backed up. It said the flash worked, I tried booting, and got stuck on the "droid" animation, it loops over and over. I booted into recovery mode, cleared data and cache. Now I can occasionally get it through the normal boot animation, all the way past the droid eye, but then it goes back to the "droid animation", only its very glitch, and loops erratically. What should I attempt to do?
I'm running CM7 on my droid and when i run the battery flat, plug it in to charge it. it then boot loops for like 5 mins and works just fine.. also any OC'd kernal suggestions, right now im using one of the chevyno1 kernels but the phone still seems a bit laggy at times what are some good tips to speed this thing up a bit. and how to fix the bootloop issue?
I currently running Smoked Glass V6.0.1. I tried updated my google maps to 4.1.1 and I get a invalid signature. According to google mobile help forums I am receiving this error because my build number doesn't match specific build numbers their application is designed to work with.
I rooted my phone using erisuser1's rooting for dummies method - this went off without a hitch, I followed the instructions to the T. I put several custom ROMs on my SD card (using the USB, and properly ejecting the phone as a drive) including KaosFroyo v37 and v38, CELBFroyo 3.6, PlainJaneT2_V2, and Vanilla_Tazz_19.I tried flashing each of them (following the wipe of the system info and the Dalvik cache) and all but the PlainJane got stuck in bootloops that lasted a long time. I waited anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, and none of the others ever loaded up. I'm fine using the PlainJane and happy to have the other features of root but am wondering if there's any advice or suggestions as to why none of the other ROMs worked for me?
Was wondering if there is anyone out there on this forum that might make me a custom boot animation. I suck at photoshop. I have tried to do it but it looks terrible. The one I want should be simple (I think)for a person who knows what they are doing. All I want is the stock boot animation droid word highlighted in neon green like a lot of blue ones I see where it splashes blue with highlights and the red eye turned the same neon green with my name highlighted neon green like the word droid but name will be above the eye. Kind of like this but with my name from sort of beginning to end.
I have been searching around the forums for some custom boot animations, and I noticed that there is not one consolidated thread for all of these animations. So, I thought I would start this thread where everyone can post their custom animations. I just rooted my Droid, and I am looking for the default eye animation and the nexus one boot animation. I would love to see all the custom boot animations everyone has made.
I've found plenty of tutorials on how to get a custom boot animation on my droid. First question, they all say to use the "terminal". Is this just an app? Secondly it asks to copy a file in the systems folder, can i pull this from a nandroid backup? I love the boot animation from smoke themed liq frozen yogurt, just not the ROM itself.
So I decided to hijack the "Red Rage" boot animation and use it as the base of my animation. Mine just has some Georgia Bulldog love to it. Also I have modified my boot logo and no longer have the "M" its now a lot nicer. I will include the bootanimation.zip in case anyone wants this. Just place it in the /data/local/ folder. Do not Unzip it, leave it how it is. If you have another one there just rename it with a .bak extension in case you don't like mine. Its stretched a little vertically, not sure why not too noticeable tough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mAMNbLANnI
I am trying to put a custom boot animation on my moto droid 1. I have root I have done it before and I am using froyo. My big problem now is that I tried putting a different one I downloaded on and it worked. So I need someone to tell me whats wrong with the one I made, because I am out of ideas. I have compared size, resolution, ppi, bit depth but for some reason my images are way bigger files. The sequence was created by using virtualdub to clip a section of an animated short, then exporting an image sequence as png.
But I've fed the images through gimp and an image resizer. The frames are only some of them because I went through deleting every other frame a few times to cut down on the total size. The file is too big to attach here so i put it on my web space at: http://www.freaksed.com/stuff/bootanimation.zip I am using the patch that lets me put the files in datalocal and be named bootanimation.zip. it works I've tried with other animations like I said.
I have this animation I made but I'm not that knowledgeable with the desc.txt file. My part0 folder is below could someone please write the desc.txt file, zip it and get it working for me please. I'd like it to stretch the width of the screen and the height doesn't matter. I have it currently at 480x240 and like it there. I've tried a few times but I keep getting the dreaded black screen.
On previous phones such as the Droid Eris and Droid 1, users were able to use custom boot animations without being rooted. All you had to do was push the new file to the boot animation location and it would over ride the old one. I really want custom boot animations on my X but am not rooted. Does anyone know a solution to this other than rooting and how to install without being rooted?
I am going to post some custom boot animations here. I will update the thread as i make them. It might not be chock full of updates every day, but i do plan on making a lot of video game related bootscreens, and anything else i think is awesome.
Just rename to 'bootanimation.zip'
Ryu shooting a Hadoken MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Sonic Running (from top to bottom of screen) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2WQBVTTD
Raiden (Metal Gear) Runs a little slow on the first loop, larger file size [url]
Dead or Alive (runs slow, it makes one complete run before your phone boots into lock screen)
Vincent (this looks kind of funky, i had to manually take the black borders off EVERY frame) The image isnt all jumbly like in this preview, but it is jumpy in a couple frames.
I made a boot animation. Not great but I am trying. Anyway, I can get it to look right when it is set to the center of the screen (480x427 not full screen) but when I set it to 480x854 (full screen) it gets stretched out. I was told the png files had to be 256x256 so I don't know what I could change so it doesn't look stretched. My animation looks like my avatar that I made and it looks just like it does here before applying the 854 settings. After seeing a lot of other custom boots mine isn't looking so good.
What I want is emails to have only a notification icon in the notifications tray, no sound or vibrate. I want text messages to vibrate. And the phone to ring normally with a ringtone as well as vibrate. I am not able to locate where to do this. If this is not possible natively, is there an app that will let me?
I've got a library of short snippet/sound effect .mp3's that I've created over the years to use with my cell phones. They've always worked with my Droid through 2.1, but two things happen on every Froyo ROM I've tried (BB 0.1-0.4). First, when browsing (with astro) to the mediaaudio otifications folder I can see them and play them once. The second time I attempt to play them, the very beginning of the file plays then stops. Second, these files are no longer listed in the notifications settings/options like they used to be.
If I flash back to 2.1, everything is peaches. Back to 2.2 and same behavior, though everything else in the ROM seems to be running fine, even music. I'm guessing Froyo looks for notifications in a new place within the file system, but I can't find it. Can anyone point me in the right direction, and also shed light why the .mp3's that play fine in 2.0 and 2.1 won't in 2.2?
So...I am currently using a custom sound for my notifications. Since we aren't allowed to access the internal storage, the sound file is stored on the sd card by default. Today when I plugged my phone in (which is defaulted to USB Mass Storage) it started to play the sound from the card, but Mass Storage mode steals the SD and blocks it from the phone, so halfway through the sound, the phone rebooted. When the phone was almost restarted, it recognized being plugged in (still) and tried to play the sound again...reboot. I unplugged it and changed the default notification to one of the pre-installed ones and tried again. Notification played and everything was fine....wtf? So.....can I either disable the sound when I connect to USB mode or is there a way to put the sound file in the folder with the factory installed ones? (I am rooted)
Can anyone tell me how I can find out what is causing notification sounds?
My Hero will, at times, beep randomly, but leave nothing in the notifications bar. If I open a task manager I can see that HTC Checkin Service and Settings are the only things running. This process will repeat, whether I close the apps or not, and run the battery down.
Is there some kind of system log I can look at to find out what is causing this? It seems weird that the phone would make the sound but leave no evidence of a notification.
Ever since updating to Kitkat, my phone either beeps, or if I put notifications on silent, it vibrates, every 5 minutes. It's very annoying and I can't find the cause. I now have to have my vibrations turned off too so I don't know when I'm getting a text any more. I did have a problem during the update and had to take my phone to the Sprint store and they did a hard reset. I'm using a galaxy S4 on Sprint.
I have the Motorola Droid 2 and Motorola S305 headset. I have paired them together, no problem; however, my phone keeps rebooting when I turn my headset off then back on, and sometimes they don't work when I am making a call. I really like these headphones (plus I'm really cheap ) and don't want to have to get another set.
I used Z4root to root my DX. I then installed Rom Manager and Droid X Recovery Bootstrap. I clicked "Bootstrap Reocvery" and then tapped "Reboot Recovery". It rebooted me into ClockworkMod Recovery 220.127.116.11. I made a backup and rebooted my phone. Now my Market wont work, I can't flash anything from Rom Mananger (the latest CW recovery is 18.104.22.168 not 22.214.171.124), my Email won't sync. Things are going haywire! Seems like my data isn't working or something? When I unrooted and unistalled everything, the Market worked again, but the Clockwork Recovery was still on my phone. How is that possible if Droid X Recovery Bootstrap is uninstalled?
I complained before of the phone constantly rebooting itself, however i find with wifi off, it does not constantly reboot, also noticed that i get only 1 signal bar everywhere in my house on wifi, where as on 3g i get almost full bars everywhere. I dont know what this means, since im new to verizon service. Is this normal as far as losing bars depending on wifi or 3g?
For people using Launcher Pro have you noticed a flicker on the bottom 1/3rd of the screen? Its only noticeable for me on brighter backgrounds since its a dark gray or black box thats flickering. It seemed to go away after uninstalling Launcher, but I really liked using it so would like to know if theres a fix or at least a confirmation that its happening to others.
