Jun 28, 2010

I am going to post some custom boot animations here. I will update the thread as i make them. It might not be chock full of updates every day, but i do plan on making a lot of video game related bootscreens, and anything else i think is awesome.

Just rename to 'bootanimation.zip'

Raiden (Metal Gear) Runs a little slow on the first loop, larger file size

Dead or Alive (runs slow, it makes one complete run before your phone boots into lock screen)

Vincent (this looks kind of funky, i had to manually take the black borders off EVERY frame) The image isnt all jumbly like in this preview, but it is jumpy in a couple frames.

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animations

Dec 30, 2009

I have been searching around the forums for some custom boot animations, and I noticed that there is not one consolidated thread for all of these animations. So, I thought I would start this thread where everyone can post their custom animations. I just rooted my Droid, and I am looking for the default eye animation and the nexus one boot animation. I would love to see all the custom boot animations everyone has made.

Motorola Droid :: New Boot Animations

Oct 3, 2010

Finally, after months of being MIA and somewhat around in between, I finally have some new releases together. I am still working on some more also so check back for updates.

My old thread containing boot animations is now but links to the downloads for those animations are included in this thread. In order to minimize confusion and also to give everyone the desired visual before downloading that I know so many of us enjoy previews are included for your ease of selection and enjoyment.

Many thanks go out to LiQuID, Ubrocked, GirLuvsDroid & everyone else who has helped with ideas, testing and promotion. Also, with my newest mods available I'd also just like to shout out a thanks to: cool saber, for his droid does original boot animation. In addition, I now have some fully original boot animations available with a few more to come shortly.

LiQuID Frozen Yogurt Users:

Also, in LiQuID's new release of 1.7 LFY, with each theme color available these boot animations will already be included in the download links for the themes ready to go, so LFY users of 1.7 after its release need NOT download these unless you want to switch them out or you are customizing with a different theme and of course if you want to use them and you are running an older version of LFY. With each preview that you see, in order to download the one you want simply click on the preview and you will automatically be linked to the download for that boo animation.

VERY IMPORTANT:

After downloading, for users that are not already familiar with this you will need to make sure that you rename the boot animation when ready to use to the name bootanimation.zip exactly as I have it spelled there and I do believe that it is case sensitive.

Also, if you are a newly rooted user or are not sure how to replace this I recommend using root explorer - and then follow these steps:

1.Rename file xyz.zip to bootanimation.zip

2.Copy or Move File

3.Go to System/Media

4.Select Read/Write setting

5.Paste and click OK to overwrite(possibly copy this to another directory for a bakup before overwriting or you will lose the bootanimation already in your phone)

6.Long press to generate menu and select permissions

7.Select rw-r-r or use all permissions

8.Select Read/Only setting

9.Reboot and Enjoy

Another option is to:

put the bootanimation.zip, using terminal into data/local ...
typing command:

#su
#cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/

Keep the spaces it won't work without them also do not type the # symbols
# = superuser privileges
$ = no super user privileges

If anyone encounters any bugs, etc... or you just need a little more help on how to use these just post and I'll and I'm sure other users too, will be more than happy to do my/our best to correct any issues or assist in answering your questions.

I truly hope everyone enjoys and please consider donating (link at bottom) if you like my or LiQuID's hard work as we are facing possible eviction if we don't catch up on rent soon and can barely make it right now. If you can't we understand too and enjoy bringing you more enjoyment with your phones, we just ask if you can spare anything to please consider trying to help out a family in need.

Motorola Droid :: Way To Use Boot Animations?

May 25, 2010

I do not condone or run either of the following NSFW boot animations. I cannot be held responsible for any negative actions that may/will come as a result of anyone seeing these on your phone, be it your parents grounding you or your wife/gf slapping you or heaven forbid...kicking you in the groin. Use at your own risk.

Motorola Droid X :: How To Custom Transition Animations

Nov 28, 2010

Watching the same transition animations over and over is boring. You can speed them up with Spare Parts or you can just shut them off entirely within settings. There is, though, a third road: change 'em. These are videos of most of the transition animations packs (Drod's rubiX animations, Fab's animation mix, and Android Stock have no videos at present).

Motorola Droid :: Looking For Custom Boot Animation

Mar 20, 2010

Was wondering if there is anyone out there on this forum that might make me a custom boot animation. I suck at photoshop. I have tried to do it but it looks terrible. The one I want should be simple (I think)for a person who knows what they are doing. All I want is the stock boot animation droid word highlighted in neon green like a lot of blue ones I see where it splashes blue with highlights and the red eye turned the same neon green with my name highlighted neon green like the word droid but name will be above the eye. Kind of like this but with my name from sort of beginning to end.

Motorola Droid :: How To Get Custom Boot Animation On Phone?

Aug 12, 2010

I've found plenty of tutorials on how to get a custom boot animation on my droid. First question, they all say to use the "terminal". Is this just an app? Secondly it asks to copy a file in the systems folder, can i pull this from a nandroid backup? I love the boot animation from smoke themed liq frozen yogurt, just not the ROM itself.

Motorola Droid X :: Custom Boot (Logo) Animation

Oct 17, 2010

So I decided to hijack the "Red Rage" boot animation and use it as the base of my animation. Mine just has some Georgia Bulldog love to it. Also I have modified my boot logo and no longer have the "M" its now a lot nicer. I will include the bootanimation.zip in case anyone wants this. Just place it in the /data/local/ folder. Do not Unzip it, leave it how it is. If you have another one there just rename it with a .bak extension in case you don't like mine. Its stretched a little vertically, not sure why not too noticeable tough.

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animation / Image Resizing

Aug 11, 2010

I am trying to put a custom boot animation on my moto droid 1. I have root I have done it before and I am using froyo. My big problem now is that I tried putting a different one I downloaded on and it worked. So I need someone to tell me whats wrong with the one I made, because I am out of ideas. I have compared size, resolution, ppi, bit depth but for some reason my images are way bigger files. The sequence was created by using virtualdub to clip a section of an animated short, then exporting an image sequence as png.

But I've fed the images through gimp and an image resizer. The frames are only some of them because I went through deleting every other frame a few times to cut down on the total size. The file is too big to attach here so i put it on my web space at:
http://www.freaksed.com/stuff/bootanimation.zip
I am using the patch that lets me put the files in datalocal and be named bootanimation.zip. it works I've tried with other animations like I said.

Motorola Droid : Custom Notification Causing Boot Loops

Apr 30, 2010

I have tried this on 4 Different Roms (Smoked Glass 4, 5, 6 and Nextheme 0.9) And no matter what I do, if I use a custom sound for notifications, the phone upon restart will boot loop indefinitely, and the only way I can make it stop is to VERY quickly slide the mute left so the phone is muted the next time it boots, then it stops, or if I cant get that to work, I have to restore from a nandroid backup. I have the files on my sd card in /media/audio/notifications All lower case (but have tried with a cap) The only things that hasnt changed, is that I have only tried mp3 files. But I also tried, by using the Zedge Ringtones App to the same effect. Whats the deal? Any Ideas?

Currently running Nextheme 0.9 ESE81 R3
BaseBand C_01.3E.01P

Edit: Also worth note as it may help, its only notifications that causes this issue, custom ringtones and alarms are fine. Even using the same short (8 second) Mp3 as a ringtone causes no issue. And the mp3 plays in the list of notifications when you select it, as it should. The only thing i can think of is possibly that the phones mp3 decoder loads after the boot up sound? Is that even logical?

Motorola Droid X :: Custom Boot Animation For Non-Rooted Phone Users?

Sep 11, 2010

On previous phones such as the Droid Eris and Droid 1, users were able to use custom boot animations without being rooted. All you had to do was push the new file to the boot animation location and it would over ride the old one. I really want custom boot animations on my X but am not rooted. Does anyone know a solution to this other than rooting and how to install without being rooted?

Motorola Droid :: Custom Boot Animation / Stretched Out In Full Screen Mode

Mar 26, 2010

I made a boot animation. Not great but I am trying. Anyway, I can get it to look right when it is set to the center of the screen (480x427 not full screen) but when I set it to 480x854 (full screen) it gets stretched out. I was told the png files had to be 256x256 so I don't know what I could change so it doesn't look stretched. My animation looks like my avatar that I made and it looks just like it does here before applying the 854 settings. After seeing a lot of other custom boots mine isn't looking so good.

HTC Incredible :: Load Boot Animations Without Being In Recovery - Must Be Rooted

Jul 18, 2010

I was messing around with root explorer and noticed that i was able to delete my boot animation with it when i was mounted as R/W so i thought i would try to copy one and it also works... so no need to push with adb shell.. here are the steps

1. take the boot animation make sure it is named bootanimation.zip and copy it to your SD card

2. then open root explore and mount R/W and then navigate to the file and press on file till the menu comes up and select copy

3. then navigate to data/local and paste the file in the local directory
and you are done, this can be done with the android_audio.mp3 file as well just paste it to the same place.

just thought this would make it easier for people instead of using adb shell

root explorer:
