I rooted my Moto Droid the other day to 2.2. Now when I plug it into my computer, it doesn't seem to charge. Yesterday I plugged it into my notebook and work desktop and it was at 50%. Left it there for a while, came back and was still at 50%. Tried it while mounted and not mounted. Yet, I Plug it into CLA and Home dock all the time and charges fine.

My phone recently has stopped charging when plugged into my laptop. I have tried 3 different USB cables so i know that's not the issue. Also when I plug it in the screen lights up so I know there is some sort of connection going on, it just does not charge.

I'm on to my second Dinc and it happens to that one as well: Once the battery gets in the "red" (i think 10% or 15%) it doesn't start charging at all unless it's been plugged in for 20 - 30 minutes. Regularly if you charge your battery (from the non-red level) you see the little lightning bolt appear and then you see the progress bar go higher and higher and reset and go higher, higher, etc. When the phone is in red status, you just see the lightening bolt and no progress is made. I tested this by leaving it plugged in for 10 - 15 minutes and unplugged it and it did not move up 1 percentage point. After 20 - 30 minutes suddenly you see the progress bar move. This really sucks because once your phone is in red, it takes a while before it starts charging. I brought my phone to Verizon, had it swapped out and my "new" (refurbed) phone does the same thing. Searched the forums and checked out google and found tons of battery issues, but nothing like this. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've been on it all day long, but I'm noticing that my battery won't gain a charge even though it's been connected for a couple of hours. Am I doing something wrong or do I have an actual issue? But the computer doesn't recognize the phone at all. It could be a problem with my computer, but I'm checking here in case I just can't find the option on the phone to "allow USB connection" or something.

I can't figure out what's going on. I don't believe I've done anything much different today than any other day. ETA...I downloaded and installed 2 apps last night from the market...GPS Status (but it and GPS is off) and Microsoft Tag Reader (also is not running).

So far I love it!Anyway, the guy told me to charge the phone all night long.I played with the phone this afternoon and the battery completely died at about 7pm. I plugged it in and checked it at 10pm and it was at 100%. Should I keep it plugged in all night long? The paperwork doesn't say to keep it charging after it's reached 100%.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI should have rooted a couple months ago as I now cannot get my Charge to recognize a USB connection with any computer. Computer recognizes something is trying to connect but computer gives me a USB Device Not Recognized message. It charges the phone when connected to the computer but doesn't ask me how I want to use the phone (as a mass storage device or media player) any more. To make a long story short, I have tried everything - different USB cables, different USB ports, different computers, USB debug on and off, Ask on Connection and Mass Storage settings on and off. Have even gone thru several master resets of the phone and still will not recognize a computer connection.
Would love to root and hold on to this thing for at least a little longer, so my last thought is to ask if it's possible to root this device without a computer connection. From what I've read through on some forum threads it's possible with some phones, just want to know if using some of the methodology its possible.
Anyone notice this? My EVO shoots up incredibly when plugged into a wall versus my computer. There was a difference too on my Hero but it wasn't so dramatically different that I would prefer wall to computer. The EVO seems to inch up plugged into the PC, but the wall seems to give it an injection of red bull cocaine.

When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.
My battery keeps on over heating when i charge it. My battery started acting funny this week when i plugged it in to the charger and it would charge stop charge stop continuous. Should i take it up to Verizon and see what they say.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOk, I have had a Motorola Droid since they released the phone and my battery has been great. I could charge it overnight and take it off the charger around 6:30 am and when I put it back on the charger around 9 - 10 pm at night I would still have anywhere from 50% to higher battery life and this is after very heavy usage.
Beginning a few days ago I noticed that my Droid battery indicator is showing almost completely drained out by 6 pm and I really used my phone lightly yesterday and today. Today and yesterday both, the red LED was blinking and the battery indicator was showing almost completely dead by 6 pm. I pulled up the battery usage on the phone and it is showing the 'browser' as the biggest battery hog for some reason. Today it was showing 81% of the battery usage was from the browser. I hardly, if at all, used the browser today. I also checked the firmware version and it is showing 2.0.1, which I never updated it myself.
Are there any suggestions about why the browser would be draining the battery down so bad, when the browser has not even been used? Is there a way to close out the browser so it doesn't continue sucking the battery dry, besides using an app killer program?I did search the forum and did not see a specific question/answer to my question. I know I had read that some people were seeing battery issues after upgrading to 2.0.1, but I did not upgrade my phone, it must have done it.
This has been an issue that's been bugging me the last few days now. The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................

Often at night before I go to bed I'll plug it in to the charger, and the 'charging' icon doesn't appear. I left it overnight, and sure enough, it didn't charge.
I powered off, rebooted, and it is now showing the 'charging' icon. This has happened before.
First of all, I'm hoping this isn't a duplicate thread. I honestly looked through the first 40-odd pages of threads in hope of not duplicating an existing topic but I gave up. Here's what's up. Got my Eris around the first of April. It worked great, even after the firmware update in May. First week of June I dropped it. It had its silicone case on so the outside glass didn't break but the LCD display inside did. Found an OEM parts supplier, bought a new LCD and installed it with relative ease. What I've got going on now is that the stupid thing won't charge. Took it to Verizon and the chick there tried to charge it with one of their chargers and it still wouldn't work. She had to send me a new battery since they didn't have them in stock there and it came today. I popped it in and it's got a tad more than half life left but it also will not charge.
