Android :: Cannot Set Downloaded Ringtone And Notification Tone?
Sep 5, 2010I installed the Zedge app and downloaded a ringtone and notification tone I want to use. I set them as the tones in my options, but it's like it doesn't save or something. The tones just keep going back to the ones I had them set to originally that were already on the phone.

Jul 22, 2010I don't see an option for Silent under Phone Ringtone or Notification Ringtone? What if I want to not have an audible alert for phone calls / text? I guess I could just create an .mp3 with 1 second of silence, but is there I could have sworn I saw a "silent" tone for each in the list before, but it's not there now.

Dec 30, 2009I had my notification tone set to a sound from a soundboard. I had downloaded from Android market, I have got sick of it and uninstalled the soundboard and set a different tone but now I get no notification tone at all even though it shows that I have a new notification tone set.

I downloaded AudioManager, and it looks like there are separate volume levels for alerts and ringer, but they seem to be linked. Ok from Velocity 0.2 with Clockworkmod and V9 SW version I flashed the stock V6 Rom, then flashed stock recovery. got ota updates to V8 and then ZVB without any errors. SW Version on phone read VS740ZVB. I then rerouted, applied Clockworkmod recovery and installed Velocity 0.2 and then the GNMTurbo4 kernel. SW Version on phone reads VS740ZVB. Then another OTA update showed up. It claimed to be 24.9MB just like the ZVB update. Of course it would not install because I was using custom recovery.
My question is, what is this update? Is it the ZVB update coming through again? Did my ZVB update not apply correctly or is it not recognized by Verizon since I'm using custom recovery and rom? Is there a new update that I'm missing out on, and if so, what is it, and do I need to apply it?
Lots of questions, I know.Just wondering what exactly is going on and do I need to do anything about it? Is there any way to pull info on this update from the downloaded file, and if so, where can I find the file and how do I get info from it?

May 17, 2010Back when I got my phone, I transfered an MP3 from the computer to the SD card and selected it as ringtone. it is still there and still works.....but now, after the OTA update, when I go into settings/phone ringtone this sound is not on the list. How do I get it back?
Also, under notifications, in the list of sounds the ones on my SD card are not there. I have a sound stored on the card that I would like to set as the notification. I mounted the card to my computer to verify that these files are indeed on the SD card. The phone just isn't seeing them in the list of available sounds...but, they do play if I go into MP3 or Music app.

Nov 27, 2010I am looking for a way to map either the power button, the camera button, or a volume buttons to turn the notification tone off. I have the phone in a holster and there are times such as driving or other times when getting the phone out to turn off the notifier is not easy or practical.I do want to know that one came in but letting the tone run its course is annoying both to me and anyone around.Is there an app for this or a setting I missed? I have a Droid X by the way.

May 28, 2010I set a tone when I first got the phone (created the media/notifications folder, put my mp3 in, selected it in the menu.) Well I added some more yesterday, went in a changed it to one of those, but it still played my old tone.
