LG Ally : Calendar App Needed For Phone To Function Properly?
Oct 25, 2010Is at least one of the stock calendar apps needed for the phone to function properly? I have never used nor will I ever need the calendar and was just wondering if it's safe to delete. I've already removed the corporate one, but left the standard one on the phone thinking it was important.

Nov 25, 2010I have been able to flash velocity 0.2 and then decided to upgrade to 0.3. When I did, I looked into flashing the turbo kernel for ally. Followed the instructions as said and now I have the choice to boot to recovery or if I let the boot go all the way through it gets stuck after the verizon logo. When I try to flash a different ROM, I hit install from SD card and everytime, no matter which ROM I pick, it starts updating but says opening file, then like 2 more lines saying opening, then it stops the install.

Aug 28, 2010I rooted my phone using Universal Androot (worked perfectly) and then proceeded to install ROM Manager to flash a custom ROM to my Ally. I used the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first (sucessfully) then used Backup Current ROM to backup the stock (V8) ROM (sucessfully). I then proceeded to install the Velocity 0.1.1 ROM (sucessfully).
I've searched here a bit, and am unclear as to the process to restore my stock ROM using ROM Manager. I believe it would work as follows?:
Use Manage and Restore Backups. Select backup I made, and then restore.
If I wanted to un-root, I could then just use Universal Androot to un-root the phone (although I havent tried that part yet).
Love the ROM, just curious how to go back if I need to.

Sep 28, 2010I've rooted my Desire, and am currently using the deFrost FroYo ROM.I'm trawling through and looking at different ROM options.I currently have all of my applications installed on the SD Card.If I take out the SD Card with the installed apps, and use a 'fresh' SD card to flash the new ROM, will putting the original SD card in the phone retain all of the apps and just work 'as is'? Or do I still need to back them all up somehow?

On somewhat the same note, the Verizon rep says to download Advanced Task Killer. Even when I kill some of these things they are immediately re-starting up. Then I thought I read somewhere that I shouldn't have ATK on my Android phone. Anyone wanna share the real deal?

Jul 15, 2010I have rooted the phone and did not have a problem with installing apps. I deleted myspace and talk. a few days later when i download an app its stuck at starting download it just hangs there. Of course I though I backed up before I deleted anything and didn't. So I though a hard reset would fixed but didn't and removed all the apps I had installed.

Oct 13, 2010If you are using apps2sd, will all apps install on the sdcard by default or can some go into internal storage space? Reason I ask is that I had previously removed ThinkFree Office from my stock ROM for space saving purposes. Now with apps2sd capabilities, I figured i'd reinstall it (from an .apk backup I had) since it would go on the sd card, so I thought. After installing it, it seems like it installed under internal storage space because I lost about 9mb of internal storage, which happens to be the same size as the app itself.

Jul 9, 2010Almost every time I install a custom Rom, the Marketplace won't show all of the apps. The missing apps aren't always paid apps though, just certain ones (both free and paid). The only solution I've found is to go back to the stock Rom.. does anybody have any ideas/suggestions? I've tried searching (this forum and Google) but didn't really find any answers.

I got the velocity rom running and its great but i miss some of the old LG apps, like the digital alarm clock and the rings that came with it. May 16, 2010I recently rooted 2.1update1, I backed up twice with sprecovey...2.1 unrooted, 2.1 rooted. Then downloaded Ti backup and did a full backup of apps. I bought ROM manager and downloaded p3droid 1ghz kernal and flashed it. I know it probably worked but I ended up restoring to the back up that ROM manager made just before flashing p3droid kernal. How can I restore my settings and apps after I flash a ROM? Is there a way to add p3driod to over clock without overiding my apps?Didn't want to get in too deep without finding out first. I read for weeks before I rooted, Im ready for the quick answer. Im considering CM or Nexbeast...not sure. I really don't mind the rooted droid OS, but id like to use wireless tether and over clock a little. If I flash to a new rom can I redownload TI backup and have it restore all my apps from my SD? I also have sprecovery backups on my PC, but that wont help because they were created on stock 2.1 rooted.

Sep 26, 2010I have been told by one of my customers that my app (and some others) no longer works on his phone since he got an OTA for2.1-update. a bit of a Google about and it sounds like yes - my customer and my app are not alone. Has any-one else encountered this - is it Verizon's fault or has my app got some obscure bug? The icon has changed from the normal group text icon to a generic android icon, and instead of being called group text, the name that shows up in my app menu is "com.smallbould". When I click on the icon, every time I get an immediate message saying that Andriod Home has to be force closed. I never even make it to the group text main screen... nothing from group text loads, period. I can uninstall the app and then reinstall it from Android market and everything goes back to normal... the icon and the app name go back to normal and the app loads and works without a problem. But as soon as I power down the phone, the app reverts to the generic icon and becomes totally non functional again. For what its worth, Fandango and History Eraser also have this problem after 2.1-update1. All of these apps worked flawlessly before the update. My phone is an LG Ally from Verizon.
