KitKat 4.4 :: Enable / Disable Sound To Alert That Notification Came In?
May 27, 2014
My definition/expectation of a 'notification' is a graphic/text message with the option to enable/disable a sound to alert me that the notification came in per app.
I want to:
1- enable/disable graphic/text per app
2- enable/disable sound per app
For #1, it looks like I have to go Setting>App Manager>All>Uncheck 'show notifications'. But, apparently that will disable everything...ie, no graphic/text or sound. I've tried lock screen and notification apps without luck so far......
Whenever I get a text message Handcent plays a song from my MP3's. Even though I have set it to use a simple notification. The song plays all the way through too, the only way I can silence it is to turn off my ringer volume. But then I have no ringer.
I have a sound clip that I want to use as my sms alert. I have placed it on the sd card under Audio/Notifications and I can play the sound file OK but when i go to the settings of the sms app (Handcent SMS) and choose Notification Setting and then Select Ringtone, it does not display the sound file. I have stored on the card, just the built-in ones, How do I make the app use the stored sound file.
Is it possible to programmatically disable and enable the led indicator light on an Android device? I am not referring to just turning it on and off as in a notification. I did not see anything in the api that would do so. I am guessing this is hardware specific if it is possible at all.
Is it possible to disable the notification sound that plays when I connect my phone to my PC? I tried upchucking SD card notifications, but thats not it. It is really annoying to have to hear that loud sound when I am in the office. Thanks
I have a rooted Sanyo Zio running Android 2.2, kernel 188.8.131.52-perf, on Ting's service (a recently opened Sprint affiliate). Every so often, particularly when in poor reception, I receive notifications along the lines of:
These don't bother me much, as Ting just came out of beta and is working on ironing problems out. However, these error codes are accompanied by an annoying chirp tone, which I want to disable. I've dug through the /system/media/audio folders looking for it, and can't find it. Where this particular notification sound is, so I can kill it?
I have a Galaxy Note 10 2014 and recently updated to Android 4.4.2. I have installed Dash Clock but in order to get it working the instructions say I have to Enable Widgets under Settings - Security. However when I go to Settings - Security I don't see the option to Enable Widgets.I verified Android version in About Device.
how to disable the missed call alert that shows in the notification bar? When I get a missed call I do not want to be notified of it in the notification bar. If not does any one know how to disable the notification bar all together?
Anyone know how I can disable the sound/alert made when the Samsung Fascinate loses its phone network connection? I get little to no reception at my house and thus the phone is always beeping that it has lost reception, then gained it then lost it again - it drives me crazy. Usually I have to resort to muting the phone altogether but then I forget to unmute in the morning when I leave the house. I called Samsung and they said to try to turn off the emergency call option saying it was some workaround. It was already off on my phone and didn't help. I've looked all over the sounds etc. settings to no avail?
For those of you looking to either Enable JIT or Disable JIT on a ROM that has JIT built in (or you've manually flashed it) and decided you wanted to remove it. I had a little trouble searching so I figured I'd post it with a simple logical subject line for future searching.
In the /System Directory you need to fine the file called: build.prop then edit the line: dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit to say: dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:fast and revsere it to enable it back (fast to jit)
You can do this a few ways. 1. Use a file explorer on your phone (such as ES File Explorer) or Root Explorer find the direcotry /system make sure the drive is R/W (read/write). Open the file, build.prop, then scroll down to the bottom of the file and it should be within the bottom 5 lines and do as stated above.
2. Use adb commands, connect phone via USB. adb remount abd pull /system/build.prop build.prop On your PC find this in your c:"androidsdkdirecotryhere" ools and edit with your favorite text editor. then save the file, and go back to your cmd window and type adb remount abd pull /system/build.prop build.prop
I used onKeyDown function in the activity.....but when back button button is clicked it first cancels the dialog box and goes to our activity...I want both either both activity and dialog box closed when clicking the back button or disable the back button when the dialog box is shown...
Looking for some help, just got my SGS a few days ago and m having trouble setting a sound as my text message alert. I have downloaded a few soundboards and want to use one of them....i press and hold the sound i want and set as my default notification.....i then go into settings and choose the relevant sound but everytime i get a text I'm still getting the stupid t-mobile msg sound.
Right now my phone makes the same sound whether I get a email or a text message. Can I make one have a different sound than the other? If so please tell me in detail how. I only see one notification sound area.
I am looking for the default sound files from the Incredible. Specifically, I am looking to the "doot" sound when you press the volume slider. Does anyone have this sound file? It is not located with the alarms, notification, or ringtones. Also, as an added bonus, I am looking for the notification sound from SportsTap as well.
I got my Incredible almost two weeks ago and haven't modified it in any way other than switching to LauncherPro instead of Sense. I've seen these buttons (highlighted in red in the screenshots) in various places; Used for selection of a single item or as "enabled" or "disabled", they just don't look right. Especially in Astrid, they don't look like they do in the screenshots from the market. what are these buttons called (they're not radio buttons or checkboxes, so I'm assuming they have a name)? Does this happen to anyone else?
So I have been searching for an easy way to enable and disable my pin lock. For example while at work I want it pin locked but as soon as I get in my car I would like to turn off the pin lock... going into the settings gets cumbersome and just looking for a way to save a few seconds.
How to disable the back button when the alert box is on the screen I used onKeyDown function in the activity.....but when back button button is clicked it first cancels the dialog box and goes to our activity...I want both either both activity and dialog box closed when clicking the back button or disable the back button when the dialog box is shown...
how to disable the low battery alert audio? I have disabled the popup, but I would like to also disable the audio. I tried deleting the lowbattery.ogg file in the root media file, but then it just played a different audio file for the low battery. I am on a rooted Nexus 5 running 4.4.2
Is there any way to turn off all sounds except for one incoming number? I like to have my phone completely off by when my ex wife has our son, I'd like to keep it on just for if she calls. Is this possible?
I want to change the alert sounds for various events: email notification, SMS, power status, Google Talk, etc. I can change the alert sound via Settings->Sound & display->Notification ringtone, but the sound is identical for all the various notifications which seems ridiculous. Is there an app or widget which allows me to assign different notification sounds to different events?
