This appears to be affect multiple brands and models. About a 3-4 days ago it started deleting previous sentences or phrases and only leaving the most recent phrase you spoke minus the last word. Long delays as well. As mentioned, it is affecting multiple phones based on other comments throughout internet. Very frustrating!
Initially I thought it was related to the recent Maps update, but rolled back to older version and no change. Not sure about the recent change for Google Voice to Hangouts, but that seems like a possibility . .
I have a Samsung Galaxy Centura and I'm using Go SMS Pro and SwiftKey.
Starting today, when I try to text using the voice to text feature, every time I start a new sentence, the previous sentence disappears. This has never happened to me before. I tried repeatedly, to the point I was cursing, and now it is also blocking out offensive words also. I went to Language and Input > Google Voice Typing and made sure Block offensive words is not checked.
My text to speech and speech to text does not work in any application. When i tap the microphone icon i get a message "your phone does not have speech recognition ENGINE and recgoinzer not found". I cant not find any apps to redownload this. Any ways to fix it? I am running new sholes 1.0 rom
FIXED... reinstalled the rom and now it came back. go figure
Flashed the XtraSense ROM yesterday (rooted and flashed for the first time yesterday). The speech to text doesn't seem to work in any of the input field except for Google Search box. The mic icon doesn't appear in on the keyboard in the native message app/handcent nor any of the input screens.
going to head over to xda site but thought I'd post here as well.
I rooted my phone (Samsung Galaxy S Showcase i500) the other day and deleted a lot of the stock apk files, the ones that I thought I didn't need .
One of them was Voice Search (and also voice commands, if that matters). Now, my speech or voice to text in my text messaging program is not working. Whenever I press the mic icon, nothing happens. Through searching I think I've determined it's because I deleted the voice search apk?
Whenever I go to the Market to download Google Voice Search, the Market says its already "installed"...but obviously its not?! I've tried downloading the file from other places but when I try to install it says "There is a problem parsing the package."
So Android on my G1 supports Google Maps. There's a TTS library (or gonna be one, I'm not sure). So how would I get more information about the Google Maps app getting the ability to SAY the next road-route instruction to take? That would allow me to drive by myself to a new spot, without having a passenger read the directions to me.
Installed Google translate and it prompted me to install TTS (Text to speech extended) Clicked on it and takes me to market place. However, It says app not found Searched for the add on, on Appbrain...and again, tried to install it on phone but again it says not found.
I would like to be able to say an email or text message to myself or my wife sometimes. When I hold down the input field I get an input choice menu but the only option there is the Android Keyboard.Am I doing it wrong? What am I missing? I would also like to have it read emails to me, and word docs (or just .txt).I have a Kindle but my phone is a little more convenient for something I would rather read in bits and pieces while walking to and fro the car or whatever.
I recently swapped my iPhone 3GS for a Moto G and immediately upgraded it to KitKat. Since then I've been facing a variety of problems. Firstly, my camera would intermittently stop working and give the 'Camera Error' message. This was subsequently fixed by Moto when they released an update.
But another problem has been everpresent right from the start. Over my home WiFi, a number of apps requiring Google Sign in fail to work! These are :
1. Play Store 2. Facebook 3. YouTube 4. Google Search (Bing search works just fine!)
These work just fine when i switch off my WiFi and turn to 3G.
I have done a lot of research and tried a number of supposed fixes that worked for other people. They include :
1. Checking the Date & Time on my device 2. Switching to Airplane mode and back 3. Deleting my Google Account & Signing in again 4. Clearing cache, force stop etc
None of these seem to work. But at times, all of a sudden they start working. But it's completely random cause if I try the next day or something, they revert back to their non-functional state.
My WiFi at home runs on Google DNS servers. I can access these websites through my laptop.
I have a Nexus 4 and recently i updated it to android kit kat, from now my device does not work with wifi, play store, youtube, google+, google now, even some site about google services like google developers. The only thing that i can do is navigate on the browser and nothing more. The interesting is: with my 3g it works fine, on the same wifi connection others android device works fine and in others wifi my nexus works fine as well
I wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS :
In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
And i have created,voice_recognition.xml in layout and made changes too...As given in the code, Arraylist? Should i create arraylist?/and what is simple_list_item_1??should it be created in the layout or is it present in the api?
This isn't particularly something I use, but I noticed today that it doesn't. Is it a 2.1 thing, as it worked on my old hero.Is this build of 2.1 just missing the voice recognition files or something? Any way of getting it working?Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Have now got 2.1 on my Hero hooray but cannot see one feature I was looking forward to which is speech to text.Have installed Voice Search ok along with the synth but my keyboard still doesn't have the mic icon.
I see the option is on my nexus one but I have no idea how to get it? I go to it in teh settings and the option to install the voice data is blacked out for me. I would like to use this feature, does anyone know how to help me?
we have ported android 2.1 on one of our custom board.I was checking Text to speech functionality on it.I click Settings->Text to Speech.it gives n new screen All options other than "Install voice data" is greyed out. When I click on install voice data.it says "The application Pico TTS has stoppped unexpectedly. PLease try again ".Can anyone point me what is the issue or how to install voice data on my board having eclair 2.1.
Is there a good speech to text app for the htc hero at this time? I also read that handcent has this but i downloaded handcent sms (new) and do not see anywhere that will enable me to use the speech to text once I open it to send a message.
How can you read data, i.e. convert simple text strings to voice (speech) in Android? Is there an API where I can do something like this: TextToVoice speaker = new TextToVoice();speaker.Speak("Hello World");
