I'd like to start getting my music and pictures etc., on my Wildfire. I've got an 8gb micro-SD card. Question is how does the phone read the card? Do I have to set up folders on the card such as Music, Photos, Videos etc., or do I just pile all my files on the card and the phone then sorts out what's what?
I got my HTC wild fire and i manually put in the apn settings. The android market and everything else works, however when i try to browse sites using the internet browser,it just wouldn't connect and says web page unavailable.
i just got my aria and i still don't know how i can do anything with it except make and receive calls. i know it's a real waste of an expensive piece of equipment. i copy files via usb to my phone and it shows in my computer that the files are in the phone. however, i can't locate the files in the phone itself, no matter.
When I hit the "phone" button on my HTC wildfire it brings up all my contacts on both my SIM card and in the phone memory. Is there anyway that I can see just the SIM card contacts as it shows up all of my contacts twice! When I hit the HTC people button it will just bring up a list of each contact only once, but this takes a few seconds to load.
We have ported android to our hardware. I am facing some issues related to sdcard. Here is the test scenario and issues:
First issue : 1. On hardware, insert the card and copy a file to sdcard using dd command. 2. Remove the card from hardware. 3. Do ls /sdcard. It shows the file present in sdcard. It seems unmount of sdcard device is not happening.
Second issue: 1. Copy a file to sdcard using dd command. 2. Remove the sdcard and check the content of the sdcard from PC. File is not visible. 3. Copy file to sdcard again and then check the content of sdcard from PC. File size is zero bytes. 4. Restart the hardware and copy the file again. File is visible when checked from PC.
Third issue: 1. The content of copied file are not matching with the original source file.
I am developing an application that needs to access data on the sd card. When I run on my development device (an odroid with Android 2.1) I have root access and can construct the path using:
However, when I install this on a phone (2.1) where I do not have root access I get files == null. I assume this is because I do not have the right permissions to read the data from the sd card. I also get files == null when just trying to list files on /sdcard. So the same applies without my constructed path.
Also, this app is not intended to be distributed through the app store and is needs to use data copied separately to the sd card so this is a real use-case. It is too much data to put in res/raw (I have tried, it did not work).
I have also tried adding: <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" />
To the manifest, even though I only want to read the sd card, but it did not help. I have not found a permission type for reading the storage.
I 'm facing problem in opening pdf attachments from yahoo mail / gmail. I have downloded both Adobe Reader and PDF viewer but can't open pdf attachments.. It gives error message 'Unable to pen the file' / 'Error opening the document'.
I have the HTC Hero with cupcake (v1.5) software. I cannot browse the net using my sim card. I have tried changing the settings to use 2G and 3G. This sim card has been used on my previous mobile phone to browse the net with, yet on my sweet little hero it doesn't want to. Is there something I need to do first? (Like root the phone) One thing I have noticed is that when I select market (for example) it comes up wanting me to sign up or log into my gmail account? Is this "normal" behaviour? One other thing I need to add is this phone was bought brand new and it was not tied to a SP contract.
I'm trying to browse my incredible' sd card from my laptop so that I can easily transfer the files on my sd card to my laptop's hard drive.
Has anyone figured out how to do this?
I can connect to the incredible over bluetooth, but when I browse the phone starting from its / directory, the sd card isn't anywhere to be found. I think it should in /mnt, but there is no /mnt listed. Among others, there's:
Does anyone know who to browse the folders of the SD card from the phone itself? I've downloaded an application on my pc in .apk format, moved it over to the SD card and now I'm trying to install the application from the SD card but am unable to search for it on the phone.
I cant copy big compressed (.zip, .rar) to my sd card. The item successfully copied but end with corrupted file (crc). I tried to fix with some software on net. But the is no can fix instead showing no problem. HY5001
Is there an application that will allow you to browse to a folder on your phone/SD care and view the photos inside? If it were on a linux PC I would be installing GThumb, on windows ACDSEE. I have tried Photo Burst. It crashes and I had to reset the phone. I have tried Picture Viewer but the latest version does not pan at all. The only way to do something like this with the stock viewer is to have all your photos in the root of the sdcard in folders or within download. Not really the neatest way of doing this.
I have a Wildfire and tried to find what or where the SD card is to have a look , but cannot find a way to see the SD card ? Is this the only phone you are not aloud to see an SD card on . No file manager.
I got my Wildfire a few days ago and have transferred work files, music etc over onto it along with installing a load of apps. The problem I have is that there is an 8GB memory card with 2.2 gb free and yet it keeps telling me the memory is low (17.31mb on the internal phone storage) and yet it is only giving me the option to uninstall things,. How do I move apps or anything else onto the sd card as I can't find a menu for this.
I've only had my HTC Wildfire a few days but it seems like the phone I've been wishing for. One question though - I'd like to put stuff on the SD card over WiFi - rather than plugging in the lead. Is this possible? I know it can be done as Tune Sync does it - but this maybe an exception. It's on the same network as the Wildfire can get out I just want to be able to see it from my Windows 7 PC.
