I downloaded APK file in my computer and moved it to SD card and I don't know how to install it in my mobile. I don't have application installer in my mobile. So is there anyway of installing it in my mobile by any other ways?
Has anyone installed an external app i.e. from an SD card on there Wildfire. If yes, which app did you use. One way to install an external app is through HTC sync, however considering that sync doesn't work with the Wildfire yet, I need to find another way to do this.
I have cm 7 on my HTC wildlife and I want to reinstall a stock eclair rom.
I have tried the ruu exe files and keep getting error 170 saying my phone isn't connected. I've tried all solutions I could find, phone doesn't even reboot into bootloader wile its running. I have also tried the zip files but when I try to install with clockworkmod recovery it just says installation aborted.
1. Is there anything like a file explorer on the wildfire so that I can browse folders and files on my cell phone? Or do I need to connect it via usb to my computer each time and then select to connect in disk drive mode and use the explorer on the computer to browse the folders on my htc?
2. Talking about the htc sync program, I couldn't connect to the computer via bluetooth and htc sync software. Is there a way to do this or can you only sync using usb cable?
When I hit the "phone" button on my HTC wildfire it brings up all my contacts on both my SIM card and in the phone memory. Is there anyway that I can see just the SIM card contacts as it shows up all of my contacts twice! When I hit the HTC people button it will just bring up a list of each contact only once, but this takes a few seconds to load.
I was wondering if there are any applications for free or cheap international SMS available for android (wildfire). I found a application with the name Free SMS in market but that doesn't work and get disconnected from Internet every time.
I bought myself the HTC Wildfire about a week back. I have a few questions regarding the wallpaper and the lock screen resolution.
The Wildfire screen resolution is 240x320. What should the ideal resolution be for my lock screen and wallpaper images?
When I set a 240x320 image as wallpaper or lock screen it appears very pixelated. However, when using resolutions of 640x480 and above, the wallpaper looks great but the lock screen is still pixelated. Also, when selecting the lock screen image I can't select the whole thing. Parts always get cropped.
Somehow the HTC backgrounds that are present on the phone don't look as pixelated although they are of a lower resolution.
I have a 1 day old wildfire and have an annoying problem with my apps and widgets disappearing from the main screens. The apps and widgets that go are the one I put on it myself. It then replaces them with the one that are on the phone from new.
Hope I haven't missed anything obvious, had wildfire for about a week, all ok.Now suddenly, I can only connect either my laptop or wildfire to wifi, not both at the same time, only started happening a couple of days ago.can anyone help please?
I have an unbranded HTC Wildfire, but it doesn't download any firmware updates. At the moment my software number is 220.127.116.11 and I know that there's an update to 1.25.405.1. But when I want to check for Software updates it says that there are none. What might be the problem?
Is it possible that the phone is still branded but without a sim-lock? Because I get T-Mobile start up screen, but use whole other SIM and there's no T-Mobile in the country i'm from.
what's the best video format to use on the Wildfire? I have successfully used 3GP, but, the quality isn't that good.According to the official HTC website, it supports MP4 and WMV, I tried converting an .avi to MP4 using OJO Soft Total Video converter, transferred it to phone, it shows up in the Gallery, but, when I try to play it, it just displays a static picture and plays the audio. Also, the only way to put it off, is to take the battery out as the phone totally freezes!
Does anyone know a way to get all the birthdays that are listed under people to show on the calendar......i know if i sync to FB i can get all the birthdays from there but only want the people on my contacts birthdays?
I have a nokia bluetooth car kit that supports voice dialing, my ancient nokia 6230i had voice dialing and I miss it on my wildfire. I see from some other threads that this seems to be an issue. Has there been any update on voice dialing on the lastest wildfire or are there any apps that enable voice dialing?
after 2 failed attempts of installing copilot on my wildfire im assuming its not compatible? On their website its not showing the wildfire but i guess thats because the phone is just released.Have sent them an email but while I wait on reply was wondering if anyone on the forum new otherwise? Btw this is my first android and im very much loving my new toy! Screen res is not a problem (previously had N86) although the camera is the only thing im disappointed with.
I am not happy with the sync thingy or it's attempt to use itunes. I wanted to get away from itunes/ Apple altogether.I have had a go at media monkey but it is a long way off filling my needs. But I have found Sony's Media Go.Media Go: Download - Sony Media Software and Services Inc.It is not perfect by a long shot but at least my Wildfire can use the playlists it creates and does a nice job on getting my podcasts in some kind of order.
The thing I miss most from my itunes/iphone setup is play count and ability to manage the correct placement of folders on the wildfire. Please can we have a discussion on your setup on this matter and what you peeps use for your media management.
Just rooted my EVO with the toast root. Seems to have worked fine, was able to make a backup, etc. Now I want to install the Fresh 0.2 ROM but Im stuck. I have downloaded the .zip file to my PC, but now what? How do I actually run the install of the zip file? All the instructions say are to "Download" the ROM zip file...but what do you do after that? Extract or copy it to the SDCard? Through cmd prompt? Need SDK/Java/Eclipse etc in order to install it?
I had the Droid X keyboard installed on my Incredible, but I can't remember how I did it. With the update today, the keyboard is not working, so I uninstalled it. I got an apk file that is supposed to work on 2.2 downloaded onto my SD card, but I don't know what to do next to install the app. It's a zipped file. When I click on it (I'm using Linda File Manager), I get 2 folders. Can someone tell me what I should do next to install this keyboard. I can't live without it. It's so much better than the stock and I can't get used to Swype (which I also installed, but can't remember how).
When i recently installed an app (Launcher Pro) and i wanted to restart my phone to clear everything an restart all the services, so i held down the standby button and selected shutdown.Whilst it was shutting down i was turning the screen on and off (really i dont know what i was doing) and it came up something similar to what i found here but it didn't shutdown just went straight to that screen.Accept it didn't say s-off, (and had a little android robot skating )
Currently own the i7500 (grr) and looking at a new Android handset. The Desire is a bit pricey for me at the mo so looking at the Wildfire.
A few Qs-
-is the screen resolution that bad? (I mainly browse mobile versions of sites btw) -Do most of the main apps work ok? -how is Google Maps on it with the screen? How is navigation? Is it all clear? -Is it looking like getting FroYo? (Looking at T-Mobile).
Applications such as LOOKOUT ANTI VIRUS do work with the wildfire. Most apps may not be available via the Marketplace so you have to download an application called 'APPBRAIN' and 'FAST WEB INSTALLER' (Basically an add on to enable downloading apps via your HTC browser). By installing Appbrain you can download apps which are not available via the marketplace. To install both apps, simply search for them via the marketplace.
Once you are done installing, You can go to Appbrain.com via your computer and log in with your Google mail account and install apps. When you click install, it will send the apps to your phone and will automatically download and install.
The other alternative is to log into appbrain via your HTC wildfire browser and install apps directly to your phone. (DO NOT TRY AND INSTALL APPS VIA THE APPBRAIN APPLICATION ON YOUR HTC BECAUSE IT WILL SIMPLY NOT WORK) Its as simple as that.
Before i purchased my phone i browsed through these forums and a lot of people were claiming apps would not work with the wildfire due to the low res screen, This did put me off a little but i went for it anyway
I have downloaded Lookout Antivirus and it works flawlessly. I have downloaded other applications and they all work.
I 'm facing problem in opening pdf attachments from yahoo mail / gmail. I have downloded both Adobe Reader and PDF viewer but can't open pdf attachments.. It gives error message 'Unable to pen the file' / 'Error opening the document'.
My Girlfriend has the X10 mini Pro but have been having no end of problems which i kept asuring her would be fixed by upgrading to 2.1.
2.1. has come and gone and the problems are still there with even more now added.
My question is which is the best hand set? My thoughts are the wildfire as i have the desire with NONE of the problems my GF is facing. Christmas is coming and i am willing to buy her this phone if it will be worth it.
How reliable is this phone? I know the processor of the Wildfire is only 530 (around) and the sony is 600, would this be noticable? What other diferences are there?
I also know there is no live wallpapers, anything missing from this handset, Can you (digital) zoom in the camera app?
I've foud that the PackageManager.installPackage(...) method was used to do that, but is no longer supported (http://developer.android.com/ sdk/api_diff/4/changes/android.content.pm.PackageManager.html)
