So I just got me a G1 earlier this week but my question is this. Even though their website says the max size card you can put in is 8GB I have seen somewhere you can put one in a little bigger, so there for I am wondering what is the biggest memory card that can be put in this thing? I currently use a 2GB one that I had in my former nokia 5310.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if it's just me, but my HTC Magic becomes very laggy after few minutes of use. Cleaning the Market and Navigator's cache and stopping all background tasks with TaskPanel Lite helps, but then after few minutes of use it becomes extremely laggy again. Don't know what to do.
Note: When I clear all the background tasks and cache, TaskPanel indicates that the phone available memory is from 20 -> 24mb (seems to be to few) but after some minutes of use it goes to 3 -> 5 mb of available memory.

According to android information system; the max internal memory is 147mb, I have 14.75 mb (9%) left. This means I have used 132,75mb. According to app brain, I have 69 apps with a total of 140mb. Surely the move to SD built into froyo should move more than 7.25mb? Most of my apps have the feature. I know this is the poorest way of getting apps to SD but surely it should move more than that? I am going to have a go at the noob guide to moving apps to SD later to see if it improves things. I need to do something. I am at a stage now where apps not update. i have to uninstall the old version and then reinstall the new version.

How large can be the database of my Android app? Is there a limit?
For performance reasons, I don't want to store the database on the SD card.
Had my Legend for about a month and a half now and I've started getting 'low phone memory' errors. Looked in the memory lists and it says the only 'biggies' are maps at 4mb each (and there's 4 of them?) and 'HTC mail' at 116mb. I only have my hotmail account, texts, and Gmail and they're all empty. Not really got that many applications installed (4 or 5) and had to remove some just to get the phone to stop reminding me. I've emptied the drafts, trash and cache and it made little to no difference.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm writing game with a large amount of .png pictures. All worked fine. Than I added new activity with WebView and got memory shortage. After that I made some experiment - replace game .png images with ones that just fully filled with some color. As result memory shortage had gone.
But I suppose that Bitmap internally hold each pixel separately so such changes should have no effect. Maybe this because of initial images have alpha channel and my test images have not it?
But actually question is: Will decreasing .png images files sizes make some effect on decreasing usage of VM application heap or not?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.
1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?

Lately, my HTC Magic with Android 1.5 suffering problem of unmounting SD card whenever boot up, or leave running for a while.I'd installed a couple of apps lately, but now, I'm not sure what's wrong with my phone.I don't want to Reset to Factory Settings. View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen my SD card is mounted in my Magic, the CPU usage is very high (90%+), the battery is very warm (34 degrees +) and it drains the battery very quickly (dead in 10 hrs with very min use).
When the SD card is unmounted or removed, the CPU usage drops to 10% or below, the phone is cool and the battery lasts very long.
Does anyone know the reason behind this and how it can be resolved?
I've reformatted the SD card and removed some of the media files not supported by my Magic but still have this issue.

I'm planning of upgrade/replace it with a 8GB card instead. May I know is there any special steps that I'll need to follow in order to switch everything (including existing data + application stored in the card) to the new ones? Is it by just copying all the data from the existing card to the new one will work?
I just upgraded my sd card from the stock 2 Gb to an 8 Gb. Looking at the size from the pc the size reported is correct, just under 8 Gb formatted FAT32. When I look at the a Total Space in the phone it reports just over 7.5 Mb. Anybody know what I did wrong.I did copy the contents of the old card to the pc first, there were no partitions and then copied the data to the new card but the size is being reported incorrectly.
