HTC Incredible :: Phone Memory Is Full Please Delete Some Files
May 5, 2010
I have like 640mbs available for memory, however when I try to check my messages I am getting an error message that my phone memory is full and that I need to delete some files, but I really don't anything on there.
Not had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.
I have tried a lot of custom Roms. I'm on Neat ROM Lite now. Not sure which ROM changed my file access permission settings to cause this problem but I'm not able to delete any files from my external memory card. I was able to delete when I was on stock rom. The other problem is for a few apps I get an error message which says can't install on usb/sd card. I have posted this in another thread some time back but got no response.
This is what my file permission looks like.
I am able to delete when my fone is connected to PC via USB. So I don't think it has anything to do with a faulty sd card.
I'm getting a "Low on Space" Icon but when I check my "SD Card and Phone Storage" it seems I have plenty of space left or am I just reading it wrong? Does "Available Space" not mean, the space I have left to work with? Menu>Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage SD Card Total Space: 7.40GB Available Space: 2.43GB Internal Phone Storage Total Space: 6.60GB Available Space: 6.33GB Phone Memory Total Space: 748 MB Available Space: 626MB
Apologies if this question has already been answered several times. My HTC desires phone memory is almost full. From what I hear I can't store apps from the SD card until 2.2 update is available, is this true? Will you also be able to run apps from the SD card with the update?
I am fairly new to the whole rooting thing but I managed to get my Evo rooted with unrevoked and then loaded Fresh 3.3 on it a week or so later. I did a couple of back ups using titanium back up, one of the stock ROM and one with the fresh ROM. I kept these on the SD card but I think I should move them to my computer b/c they are large files. What should I have done once I installed Fresh 3.3? Is there something on the root of the SD card I should have deleted? I don't have the space to update to the fresh 3.4 right now and would like to get it updated ASAP.
When I click on settings then wallpaper then gallery to change my wallpaper I get a message that says "not enough memory, delete some items." It also does this when I go straight to the gallery. I can't delete any items if I can't open the gallery. What can I do short of a factory reset.
I have had my Desire for about 3 week snow. I absolutely loved it at first but am becoming increasingly frustrated. Main problem is the battery needs charging so often. I have done all the things suggested, dimmed lights, changed wall paper, turned off internet etc., but after playing a few games and making a couple of calls back to the charger it goes.
Now, today I went to send an sms and it says phone is full and won't let me send a text.! What's with that? 3 weeks old and it's full? I'm in shock. I have deleted as many msgs as I can and deleted some apps I don't use but still I can't send a text or open one. I really don't know what I can delete and now think this is going to be an eternal problem. This phone has turned from a huge delight to a huge disappointment for me and I haven't even paid my first bill.
Has any1 been successful in using Astro or any other file manager to move files from the SD Card to the internal Memory located at /EMCC/ ? I've tried a couple times, both moving small amount of files and/or entire folders and got Error messages in Astro. Is this just lack of support or can u really just add files using a Computer to the internal memory?
is there any way of managing/deleting files (eg PDFs that you download) on the SD card from the phone itself ? ie can you do it without connecting to a PC and mounting as disk drive ?Also - just bought a 16gb SD card and it seems like the speed of access/saving photos and transferring music from PC is much slower than with the 4GB card that came with the phone. Is that normal or have i got a dud/fake SD Card ? ( i know - I bought if from ebay - but it was a proper 30,000+ feedback seller of memory cards..)
I'm using the Nexus One right now... and I've been texting for a few weeks and its completely fine. Today, higher, every time someone texts me it says in the notifications "text message memory full (incoming message rejected due to full memory. Please delete old messages...)". However, when I check my phone memory it says there is still 16mb left, and my SD card has 1.3 gb left. I went to "manage Sim card messages" and it says there are no messages on the Sim card. So i deleted some of my threads that had over 200 msgs and nothing happened. Whats up? I mean I thought it could hold infinite number of text messages.
This might just be me being a bit stupid but i've just got myself an x10 and am trying to transfer all my music files from my old handset. They are saved on my SD card an i have put my old SD card into the phone and have found my music files using mediascape... however i don't know how to take them from the SD card an store them on the phones memory so i can put my new&bigger SD card into the phone. Does this make sense?
Sometimes I'm browsing the web and... One more download... And then oops! Another one...Then I realised that those downloads are still in my download list and there's no option to COMPLETELY remove them. Also, where do I clean browser's temporary files?
I uploaded about 50 pictures from iPhoto (using a Mac) just to see what they looked like and then later formatted the Droid's SD card, so the pictures were no longer there.
Now, if I mount the Droid via USB and view the file structure there is a folder named /albumthumbs which contains 50 files, presumably for the 50 pictures a had on the SD card.
To me, these file, unless linking to actual photos stored on the SD card, take up extra space in the phone's memory (not worried about the SD card). I wonder if I can safely delete them (just the files...not the folder)?
