Jun 24, 2010

Removed the Footprints and Peep widgets following some directions from the board here... Now when I go into the widget menu, I have 2 entries. One is "0.0dip" and the other "false". Footprints was "0.0dip", as I removed that last night, and now "false" from removing Peep.

My apologies for all the questions lately but after removing those widgets I no longer use from my EVO I've noticed that when long pressing on a screen and selecting widgets the menu shows those widgets tht were there as this:ff000000, #ffccccc, 0.0dip, 100.0dip, 200, 300, false, etc. My questions is how do I clean up this menu so it no longer shows the non existant widget? A factory reset or wipe?

I have no idea how to get rid of this stupid widget if not long holding on it, but I just keep getting this error and then all the home screens have to reload.

(adb push flash_image /data)(adb push mtd0.img /dat. Both go through fine, but when I type: (adb shell) and press enter my next line of code starts w/ :(~#) upon my typing (chmod 777 /data/flash_image) I get: (~#) again. Quick question: 1. Is the (~# ) correct and if not how do I get past it to enter the remaining code? 2. Do I just continue to type the remaining code after the (~#)? 3. After rebooting, what volume do I type the (fastboot devices after? C: or C:sdkools? I obviously don't know much, if anything, about using the command window.

General :: Deleted App Remains On List / Can't Uninstall Further

Jul 12, 2013

I have been messing with System Cleanup moving apps into system partition, etc. There was a glitch and now there's a 0-byte app that is physically removed (no files left as far as I can see) but still present on the app list. I can neither uninstall it further nor reinstall it (says can't install into the specified directory or something to the effect).

Is there a way to ULTIMATELY remove all traces of a (system) app manually? Is there a database of some sorts in Android where an entry could still be present? I would like to make Android forget it ever had the app in question (much less it was at some point moved to System) and be able to reinstall it as a user app.

Running an old Gingerbread Samsung Gio phone, BTW.

Android :: DropDown Leaves Several Ghost Elements On Screen

Jun 24, 2010

When typing in an AutoCompleteTextView, when the list shrinks because the number of matches goes down, the DropDown leaves several "ghost" elements on the screen. This only seems to happen when an IME is visible, and visually, it appears to be limited to the area that shows the autocomplete suggestions for the input method, so quite possibly it's happening in what is part of the IME's layout. This occurs in 2.0.1, 2.1 and 2.2 emulators, and most likely on devices as well (confirmed at least on Milestone running 2.1- upgrade1). It _does not_ seem to happen in an 1.6 emulator.

General :: HTC Desire S Screen Remains Off When SMS Arrives With Go Locker?

Jun 10, 2013

I started using Go Launcher and Go Locker sometime back on my HTC Desire S (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3).

Previously when a new SMS arrived, the screen would light up and show the message on the locked screen, from where I could send a "Quick reply" without unlocking the phone or going into the SMS app (using Handcent).

After applying Go Launcher and Locker, the screen does not light up when an SMS comes, though the notification sound and the LED blink is still there. So i need to unlock the phone and then reply, if needed.Also previously when listening to audio, when I pushed the Volume up or down button, the screen remained off, but with these apps now the screen lights up when using the Volume buttons.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Update To Android 2.1 Leaves Phone At 1.6

Nov 8, 2010

I followed all the instructions on updating to Android 2.1 and I did not have any error messages in the process. When I boot my X10, I am still at Android 1.6. Worse yet, the backup/restore application does not restore everything. I have to reconfigure my main screens and the worse of it is my Touchdown client needs to be reconfigured for exchange sync and I have to reconfigure it and re-download everything again. How can I diagnose why my android doesn't update? I am using Windows 7 x64. The process looked like it was working, but I see the following in the driverinstaller_install_usbflashdriver.log file:

Android :: Adapter Filtering Via GetView Still Leaves Gray Lines

Sep 23, 2010

My application uses a list of media files on the phone, i.e. images, audio and video. It also allows the user to filter the list via some checkboxes in a menu, so the user can choose to show or hide each type of files. The way I've been doing this is by putting this in the adapter's getView():

// don't show unwanted file types if (cmo.hasType(MediaType.AUDIO_FILE)){
if(!prefs.getBoolean(PREFS_SHOWAUDIO, true)){ return new ViewStub(mContext);;
} }else if(cmo.hasType(MediaType.IMAGE_FILE)){ if(!prefs.getBoolean(PREFS_SHOWIMG, true)){
return new ViewStub(mContext);;
} }else if( cmo.hasType(MediaType.VIDEO_FILE)){ if(!prefs.getBoolean(PREFS_SHOWVIDEO, true)){ return new ViewStub(mContext);; } }

Which is quite effective in the sense that the list doesn't show those elements. However, the ListView still renders a 1px grey line between each View, even if they are ViewStubs, meaning I see a thick gray line whenever a group of consecutive items are filtered away. How can I get rid of those lines? Should I create a new data array, containing only the elements that should show a view?

It seems that when you are done with an app you just have to hit the menu button again.. but this leaves it in memory running.. is there anyway to close the and and just leave it? I did download the Advanced app killer but that seems silly to have to pick from a list of what you want closed.. I see no way to just close the app you are in.. it should be a default option for every app.. I hope I am just not finding it.. and it is there somewhere..

HTC Desire :: Every Installed And Uninstalled Application Leaves Some Files That Fills Up This 150mb?

Jul 16, 2010

As you may all know Desire has nearly 150mb internal memory for applications so I'm doing my best to use it wisely,

My problem occured when I start to install and uninstall many applications just for testing. I've seen that every installed and uninstalled application leaves some files that fills up this 150mb.

At my phone I had, CoPilot live + Several games + Google Earth. Now I've none and but when I try to install CoPilot or Google Earth I'm facing the fact that there is no space left.

I think applications might be leaving installer file behind when applications installed through HTC Sync, this might be the only logical reason.
