HTC Incredible :: Stop Slacker From Running?Nov 13, 2010
I just received the latest ota. Is there a way to stop slacker from running all the time other than manually pushing stop through the applications tab?

I just installed the 2.2 update on my Incredible. Don't know if it's me but it seems a tad bit slower than the last OS. I'm also noticing on my Advance Task Killer that I have Skype, Amazon MP3, Slacker, Kik, and other applications open most of the time without even touching the apps. Also pressing KILL all applications does not do the job! I gotta hold the application and press force stop myself.
Also earlier today I noticed I got incoming and missed calls from people in my phonebook, but when checking my call logs, it doesnt show their name it just the number and thats it.
So if anyone else is experiencing this please or has a solution to this please reply back.
Once upon a time I accidently thought backup assistant would be useful and set it up. Now ever since setting it up it runs in the background like an annoying pest. I have cleared the cache as online recommendations have mentioned, but Backup Assistant STILL runs in the background and restarts if forced to quit.I'm now rooted and have the Clockwork recovery mod on my phone....what can I do now to permenantly banish "Backup Assistant" from running? I've heard of people deleting it but then having problems with syncing FCing. So I'm just looking to slam the door in its face.View 2 Replies View Related
This doesn't always happen but when it does, Slacker stops playing after every 2 or so songs. I get a message box that reads "Warning! Unable to find active data or WiFi connection. Would you like to quit the application?" and gives me Yes or No options. Clicking No returns me to the Stations list where selecting any station returns me to the one previously playing and starts the next song when I hit Play.View 4 Replies View Related
Last night I noticed that there is an update to Slacker, so I downloaded it to my Incredible. Opened it to see if there were any visible differences, went to a station and played a song for 2 seconds, selected quit via the menu, and then "shutdown slacker" at the end. This morning I open up Spare Parts, check the battery history/partial wake usage, and Slacker is at the top, bar all the way to the right.View 12 Replies View Related
In the short time that I've used Slacker radio, my phone has rebooted itself twice. At the time I was on Wifi and was skipping a lot of songs. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a software or hardware issue?View 5 Replies View Related

Is there a way I can test if there are any other activities in my app still alive? I am looking to stop a service in an onDestroy method, but only want to do this if there are no other activities from my app still alive on the stack.
I have the call stop the service in the main activity's onDestroy() method. This works perfect EXCEPT that if a user launches my app, then launches a few activities in my app, then hits the home screen and RELAUNCHES my app, they will subvert my order and the main activity will now be above other activities of my app. From this state, if they hit the back button and 'back out' of my home screen they will trigger the onDestroy() method and kill the service even though there are other activities open on the stack. I want to avoid this by stopping the service ONLY if I am sure there are no other activities of mine open on the stack.
I'm sure some folks already know this but for those that don't. You find out what apps are running in the background by going into settings, applications and running services. You can stop whatever apps you want.View 2 Replies View Related
I am having a problem with this app. I may use it in the future, so I don't want to delete it. But it keeps randomly popping up. When I go into my running applications, 8 out of 10 times it is running. I shut it down, and it keeps popping back up. How can I stop it from running on its own? I only want it to run if I manually click on it. Went into application settings and can find nothing to toggle it off with. This happens on a bunch of applications, but Amazon MP3 is the most frequent.View 1 Replies View Related
I was wondering if I can somehow permanently get rid of some running services that start up on my phone? I'm speaking specifically to the motorola widget ones such as social networking and news that are running even when i haven't signed up for them.View 7 Replies View Related

I've noticed the GPS icon at the top of the screen even when I'm not in a GPS app. It's definitely affecting my battery life. I've rebooted the phone a few times. I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.View 11 Replies View Related

I have tried the task killer and that does not seem to stop the applications running. I find that everytime I open and application it I can not close it down it just runs in the background. I have tried force stop and that does not work so what is the answer? The more apps you have running the more it kills the battery life. Apple have released one for the iphone so I can not see it being a big problem to have one for the X10 users or I am missing a trick somewhere?View 1 Replies View Related

But if I go back to the 'advanced task killer' few minutes after closing all the apps, I see all the apps are running again. How to programmatically stop a long-running query?
The long-running step is, for example, the first call to Cursor.moveToFirst(). This can sometimes take up to 30 seconds so I would like the user to be able to cancel.
However, how should this be done? I've tried closing the Cursor (in another thread) but all that happens is that the close() call takes as long as moveToFirst() and then terminates with the exception:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: attempt to acquire a reference on a close SQLiteClosable

I have the kill app program, but that doesn't work automatically. The best way is to kill the unnecessary apps that load when the phone starts and persistently load themselves at intervals. Is there a way or an apk to download to select the apps that we allow to auto-run? ok so I do know that due to the amazing OTA from sprint and HTC, that our streaming services such as pandora and slacker pretty much sucks when it comes to listening to it. I have however noticed that when using both slacker and pandora it seems to take quite a bit longer. Usually it loads the whole song in a matter of seconds but now it pretty much streams it live and if you loose sig within a whole second or two it stops. Thus resulting in using more battery. Is this because of the format change or something like that?View 6 Replies View Related
I've been using Slacker Radio (version 2.0.84) quite happily for the past couple months on the Moto Droid (OS version 2.1).
Over the last month, I've had at least 4 times when the radio starts blasting while the phone is in the charger in the middle of the night. The last two times, it seems to have happened at 3:25 or 3:26 am. The other times it went crazy it may have been the same time.
Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps has a fix?
Coming from a Blackberry Storm, I had Slacker Radio and it was one of the first apps I downloaded on my new Eris yesterday. However, I am finding that the ability to cache radio stations to your media card is missing from the features of the Android app. The cache was extremely useful as it wouldn't force the data connection and thus helped to conserve battery life.
Is there an alternative app for radio that will cache stations or do I need to hit up the Slacker team to get an update to the Android App?
So I used to be able to have google navigation running, pandora or slacker in the background playing music, and even take a call or two all at the same time.
When navigation spoke some directions, the music would halt just for the time being then play right away once directions were done.
NOW, however, I'm guessing due to the froyo update - if I have pandora playing and navigation running, directions comign up halts the music as before, but instead of resumign automatically, I have to manually go back into pandora and hit play again. Even worse, in slacker, it will pause the music, but when it "resumes" it does so by skipping to the next song!
Has anyone experienced this change or does anyone know what I can do to get things back to normal (except remove froyo if even possible). I like the other changes froyo brought other than this one.
I love slacker on my wife's blackberry but it keeps freezing up on my moment. does anyone else have that problem? if so and no fix I hope 2.0 will fix it. Also has anyone heard when 2.0 will come out for android?View 6 Replies View Related
I just downloaded Slacker 1.0.375 (I think) and have found a huge sound quality issue...
I'm currently using Shure SE310 earbuds on multiple devices and have noticed no issues with their quality... I also use Pandora (on my droid) with no quality issues... So I know it is neither the earbuds or the 3.5mm headphone jack on my droid...
What I notice with Slacker is that the bass, probably 50%-75% of the time, comes through with a lot of distortion / crackling... It is apparent at all volume levels that the music is actually audible and varies across all music genres...
When using a home replacment like Helix, Home++, etc. does the android home still run in the background and reduce performance? I had a lot of stuff on my stock home but just switched to Helix so how do i stop/disable stock home if it is running?View 1 Replies View Related
I know other Hero users are having the same problem, and so far Slacker support has not fixed. One the screen sleeps it will finish the current song but not play a next song until you unlock the screen. I even have an app that keeps the screen from locking but allows it to go black and that causes the same issue. Anyone have a suggestion? This makes it where I can only use Slacker with the screen on which make the app almost worthless.View 1 Replies View Related
Pandora on my phone sucks. It skips and clicks and jams up all the time. I've even force closed, then un-installed, then re-installed it, and I still have the same problems. My brother has a Droid and he says he uses Slacker all the time on his phone so I decided to try it.. It works PERFECTLY! No more skips and horrible noises while I try to listen to the radio on my phone and it works in the same concept as Pandora.
I just wanted to share this with anyone that has the same issues that I have with Pandora and really would like to be able to listen to the radio on their Moment. BTW, i thought that it would use a lot of battery, but it really doesn't seem to. I also got a little cable on ebay that has two male ends like a headphone jack. I plug one end into the headphone hole on my phone and the other end into the "aux" hole in my truck, and it works GREAT through my truck's stereo system.
I just got my Droid but I frequently use Pandora and Last.FM on my computer at work. Last.FM - Seems like the service has a better list of artists than Pandora so i switched to it on my PC recently. On Android the service is the same but as an app it tends to be open in the background all the time and suffers from not being able to pause (like the PC version). The scrobbling could be nice for some users and it links to the android player. Sound Quality seems excellent, best of the three so far. Pandora - Haven't gotten to use it too much because it takes so long to load my station. Sound Quality seemed fine with my limited use.
Slacker Radio - Has the most music options of the three and seems likes the best application. It has plenty of options like keeping the screen from freezing while plugged in and on wifi without having to change your phone settings. Had to stop listening from poor sound quality though! Sound Quality started ok but a bassy boom and click started appearing after a few songs, forced to switch to Last.FM.
When I get a call, email, text message..etc.. my phone will make a noise once.. and then the LED will flash green. HOWEVER.. if I don't notice it.. it seems after a few minutes the LED stop blinking green. I often leave my phone on my night stand.. step out of the room for awhile.. come back.. look at the phone and the LED is not blinking.. but when I wake up the phone I show a missed call, new email, new text, etc. Is this how it is supposed to work? should the green LED keep flashing until I check the phone?View 23 Replies View Related

I have searched for this but can't seem to find an answer anywhere on the forums. I have a custom ringtone as my notification sound, and it is about 10 seconds long. However, when I receive a notification while I'm doing something else, or heck even if I receive it while just looking at my phone, I want to be able to hit a button and make the noise stop! I realize I have an email, text, whatever, so now I want the .mp3/sound to stop and not continue to play the duration of the clip!View 6 Replies View Related
